Germany is an important international partner for Armenia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin, reports Armenpress. Germany is the first commercial partner for Armenia among the EU member states and the 2nd in the world.
“This fact already records the unique relations Armenia and Germany have. Our relations are quire dynamically developing if we take into account the fact that Mrs. Chancellor was in Armenia just few months ago, and now my visit is taking place. I am happy that during this period important developments have taken place in Armenia which showed that the democratic developments in Armenia are irreversible. It’s worth to note that our EU partners and Germany have not put an issue of geopolitical choice before us in the context of these reforms, which means that the agenda of our reforms can be completely carried out with the support of the EU and, of course, also Germany”, the Armenian PM said.
Pashinyan stated that during the meeting with Chancellor Merkel they attached specific importance to the Armenia-Germany economic cooperation. “A number of important programs with the investment of the German capital are being implemented in Armenia. We hope that the German investments will inevitably increase in Armenia”, the PM said.
Pashinyan and Merkel also touched upon key issues of regional and international agenda. “I am happy to state that we have mutual perception on these issues. Of course, peace and stability in our region are very important, but ensuring peace and stability must be as a result of the multilateral efforts”, he said, adding that in this context they also discussed the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement.
