Ankara has long supported economically and militarily the Islamic state. The evidence today is undeniable.
In Afghanistan, the Taliban had the hidden support of Pakistan, Syria and Iraq, Daech was that of Turkey. In both cases, one of the main allies of the coalition formed to fight the Islamist plays and played a double game. The proof of foul play led by Ankara was brought there several months during the famous raid conducted by special forces US against Abu Sayyaf in Syria in May.
Abu Sayyaf, who was killed during the raid, was one of the main leaders of the Islamic State and somehow his finance minister. The documents found during the operation clearly show that he was in direct contact with Turkish officials said the Guardian . Abu Sayyaf had particular responsibility for Daech sale on the black market oil and gas revenues which accounted for up to $ 10 million per day .
The documents and computer hard drives seized during the raid reveal so “clear” and “undeniable” the links between Turkey and Daech and this could have profound consequences for relations between Ankara and its Western allies. This probably explains the decision finally taken by Turkey to launch attacks against Daech although its military intervention is primarily directed against Kurdish … struggling against Daech. “The Turks have not changed state of mind, it is simply a reaction to American pressure and other” says a diplomat in the Guardian .
“The turkey has created a monster”
NATO member, Turkey is accused for years by the experts, the Kurds and even the US Vice President Joe Biden , in what was seen as a diplomatic gaffe alotrs, doing nothing to prevent the supply of arms and volunteer fighter Daech through its Syrian border.
But the complicity and collaboration has reached much higher levels imagined before. In November 2014, a veteran of Daech explained that the Islamic State regarded Turkey as an ally . “Commanders of Daech told us to have nothing to fear because cooperation was complete with Turkish … Daech considered the Turkish army as his ally especially when it came to attack Kurdish in Syria.”
Turkey has thus trapped itself. This is what was explained by a Western diplomat at the Wall Street Journal earlier this year : “Turkey has created a monster and does not know how to get rid of.”
