YEREVAN. – Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan met with Russia’s Vlaimir Putin on Tuesday within the framework of his working visit to Moscow.
President Sargsyan expressed gratitude for an invitation, noting there are many issues to be discussed in order to make decisions referring to bilateral relations and deepening of integration processes.
“Armenia-Russian relations are built on the centuries-old friendly relationship between our nations,” the Armenian leader said. President Sargsyan is confident that every generation of Armenians and Russians must contribute to the history of relations between the nations.
Calling development of relations with Russia “an absolute priority”, President Sargsyan said there are problems which must be solved to raise relations to a new level. “And this is reason why I came to Moscow,” Sargsyan emphasized.
Welcoming his counterpart, Vladimir Putin said he is happy that the states are intensively developing contacts in almost all areas and noted frequent contacts between the parliaments and government structures.
“The states registered more than 23-perecnet growth in trade turnover. Russia remains Armenia’s first trade and economic partner, and this trend continues,” Putin said.
