Russia turns out to be Azerbaijan’s number one weapons supplier providing over half of the country’s armament, the latest report by the Stockholm International Peace and Research Institute (SIPRI) suggests.
According to the 2018 Yearbook, the country received 51% of its weaponry from Azerbaijan, 43% – from Israel and 2.8% – from Turkey in the reporting period.
The armament supply showed an overall increase in the Middle East, whereas in other regions, the dynamics was essentially negative.
The document reveals that the world’s major arms importers were Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Israel, Qatar and Iraq.
