ALEPPO. – The Armenian districts of Aleppo, Syria, were actively bombed in the last two days, and this is linked to the German Bundestag’s passing of the resolution on the recognition of Armenian Genocide.
Rev. Haroutune Selimian, Head of the Armenian Evangelical Community of Aleppo, on Saturday told the aforementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
“The shelling on the Armenian districts in Aleppo have become more active, the town is very tense, intense shelling on the Armenian districts took place two days ago, which we believe is a result of the resolution which the Bundestag adopted,” he said. “Four Armenians were killed, which was a big loss for us; we also have dozens of wounded. In addition, seven to eight buildings were completely demolished.
“All of these are attacks committed by Turks. The place where there are Turkish militants is very close to the [primarily Armenian-populated] Nor Kiugh [(New Village, in Armenian)] district of Aleppo. With this step, they [i.e. the Turks] attempted to once again hurt the Armenian people.”
