An Irish newspaper Irish Times reader sent a letter that was published Saturday, June 4, 2016, demanding recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
Sir, – On 2 June, the German parliament has overwhelmingly recognized the massacre until 1½ million Armenians by the Ottoman Turkish government between 1915 and 1922 as genocide. More than 20 countries have officially recognized the genocide, but Ireland has not yet done. It is now time for the Dáil Éireann [lower house] and the government to recognize the Armenian genocide. – Yours, etc,
Edward Horgan,
Castletroy,
Limerick.
