GERMANY Steinmeier defends the resolution on the Armenian Genocide in the Bundestag, despite pressure from Ankara

steinmeier defend genocide German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier today defended its intention to move the resolution of the Bundestag (lower house), recognizing as genocide the mass killings of Armenians by the Ottoman Empire and has attracted strong criticism of Turkey.

“What happened there over a hundred years is not an obstacle for now it is addressed,” said the head of the German Foreign Minister at a meeting with foreign media, regarding the text to be submitted to Parliament next Thursday.
