The annual dinner of the CFC took place on January 29 (the anniversary of the French law recognizing the Armenian Genocide: 2001) in the presence of guests of honor: Ms. Christiane Taubira, Attorney General, Bernard-Henri Lévy, philosopher, Charles Aznavour, ambassador of Armenia, Viguen Tchitetchian, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia; VIPs of the state of religion, the press and associations.
320 guests were informed of programs that preside over the centenary commemorations of the Armenian Genocide: “2015: One hundred years of genocide.”
Co-Chair of the CCAF, Mourad Papazian has sought to denounce the denial, saying “it is no longer possible to accept that these facts are denied” calling “the return of great men,” such as have was Jean-Jaurès, Francis Pressenssé, Georges Clemenceau, France Anataole! “In the back of the great voices, the return of France itself! Courage in politics! ”
Like many French-Armenian, Mourad Papazian wants to believe in “the promise and commitment of the President of the French Republic in which we trust, as reaffirmed in Turkey that the project would pass.” He added during his speech “We urge President Holland make every effort so that in 2015 Turkey makes the gesture that the whole world is waiting for recognizing genocide in 1915”
Ara Toranian, Co-Chair of the CFC, has gone back in time, back when “refugees arrived in rags” were not without causing some negative reactions, recalling a certain October 21, 1923, Senator-Mayor Flaissières declared in Le Petit Provençal “Marseille public wants the government to strictly prohibit the entry of French ports these immigrants …” Toranian continues thanking France and these voices are so high to defend this lamentable flock “of Armenians who have become” model citizens “. But this denial, he said, “it has forced this community to live without happiness, abandoned to the vultures of denial.” In turn, he mentioned names like Jean-Paul Sartre, Pierre Vidal-Naquet, Emmanuel Levinas, Alain Finkielkraut, Michel Onfray. And of course Serge Klarsfeld and Bernard-Henri Levy, who supported and still support the Armenian cause. Bernard Henri-Levy received on this occasion, the Medal of Courage CFC, hands Ara Toranian and Mourad Papazian.
