YEREVAN. – A new center for Chinese studies opened in Yerevan State University of Languages after Bryusov.
The opening ceremony was attended by the head of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia, chairman of the university board Hovhannes Hovsepyan, and representatives of the Chinese company Global Group International Holdings Limited of Suite that supported the opening of the center.
Representative of the company Mr. Sen said Chinese people consider Armenia a friendly country and respect its culture and history. Armenia is one of the four oldest countries in the world, the first country to officially adopt Christianity, an ancient bridge between Europe and Asia, and an important part of the Great Silk Road, he added.
Since 2009, the university has been hosting the Institute of Confucius that was involved in studying of Chinese language and culture. The Centre was established under an agreement between the university and China’s State Department for the dissemination of Chinese language abroad.
