A former prime minister of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) has congratulated the Armenians in Artsakh, Armenia and the Armenian Diaspora on the 31st anniversary of the country’s revival.
In a message on Facebook, Arayik Harutyunyan, now the leader of the Free Fatherland party, recalls the landmark victory in the liberation struggle as a “great historic moment obliging each and every one to discharge the duty of creating a prosperous fatherland with honor”.
He also expresses regret that 31 years after the war, Azerbaijan has not abandoned its belligerent rhetoric, persisting in the policy of aggression. ”This ‘neither-peace-nor-war situation’ we have been eye-witnessing since the [early days] of the Artsakh movement and victory in the [liberation] war should never cast a shadow on our predecessors’ achievements. We won the campaign, and it is now an accomplished fact. So its future is, from now on, to form part of the struggle and victory of the generations to come.
”I congratulate all of us on Artsakh’s revival [anniversary]. I am confident that the achievement we had over the past years will be justifiable thanks to our efforts to create a Strong, Developed and United Fatherland,” reads the Harutyunyan’s status.
