DAMASCUS. – An Armenian was killed Sunday in Downtown Damascus, Syria, as a result of a mortar attack.
Syrian-Armenian community representative, Damascus resident Nazaret Elmadjian told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
He informed that the name of the Armenian that was killed was Shavarsh Gartatsoghian.
In Elmadjian’s words, two streets were shelled by mortar, and residential districts, schools and churches sustained damages.
“The Greek Church of the Holy Cross was destroyed as a result of the mortar attack,” Nazaret Elmadjian added.
