Minister of High Technology Industries Hakob Arshakyan on Friday received Vardan Sirmakesh, a Swiss-Armenian businessmen and entrepreneur who pursues plans to assist in the country’s military-industrial development by importing cutting edge and accurate machine-tools.
Thanking the minister for the reception, the businessmen shared hislnowledge and awareness of the country’s progress in the HighTech sector, praising the Armenian specialists’ high qualities and potential. He unveiled his plan to launch a new project in the country to develop mechanical engineering in addition to the technological sector.
Highly appreciating the initiative as an important contribution to Armenia’s development , Minister Arshakyan expressed his willingness to offer his maximum support to its implementation.
Noting that Armenia had highly developed industries in the Soviet period, as well as a qualified and knowledgeable workforce, he said that there are useful projects also now to apply to the military industries. Arshakyan praised the businessman’s proposal as a valuable tool promising a future progress.
He also briefed Sirmakesh on the Armenian government’s approaches in the IT sector, and the existing priorities and projects. The minister addressed, in particular, the construction of an engineering city, elaborating on the vision to incorporate new ideas into his plan (from research projects to manufacturing processes) by creating a friendly climate for engineering companies.
According to a press release by the Ministry of High Technologies, the sides also agreed on plans to arrange a meeting with the specialists invited to work on the assigned projects.
