Liana Gyurjyan of Armenia won the vice world champion’s title in the 2019 Youth Weightlifting Championship (YWC) in Las Vegas.
The young female athlete won silver with a total result of 208kg (92+116), the National Olympic Committee’s website reports. Turkey’s Dilara Narin was named a champion after lifting 225kg (96+129). The third prize went to Bella Paredes (Ecuador) who lifted a total of 200kg (90+110).
The championship was organized by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF)
In a male tournament on March 12, Garik Karapetyan won the youth world deputy champion’s title. Gevorg Ghahramanyan, another Armenian athlete, won bronze.
The national team left for the United States under the leadership of the coaches Gevorg Davtyan and Vigen Khachatryan.
