Armenian Men’s Weightlifting Team won the first medals at the European Championships. Armenpress reports that weightlifters scored 89 kg in the European Weightlifting Championships in Batumi.
Davit Hovhannisyan, who represents Armenia, lifted all the exercises in the snatch and eventually scored 165 kg. Hovhannisyan took the third place in this tournament, winning the bronze medal. Another representative of Armenia Hakob Mkrtchyan took the 4th place in the snatch with a result of 164 kg. In the snatch, Hakob Mkrtchyan made two draws, first lifting 201kg, then gaining 207kg gold medal, and Hovhannisyan – 195kg. Hakob Mkrtchyan became the European champion in the 371 kg bout and David Hovhannisyan won the bronze medal in the European Championship with a result of 360 kg.
On April 12, Tatev Hakobyan (87kg) starts with the women’s team at 18:00 by Yerevan time. On April 13, on the last day of the competition, heavyweights will compete for medals. Arpine Dalalyan will compete with Arsen Martirosyan and Samvel Gasparyan (9:00, Yerevan time) and Simon Martirosyan (109 kg) at 12:00 (Yerevan time) ) and heavyweights Gor Minasyan and Ruben Alexanyan (18:00 Yerevan time).
