Turkish police close Gezi Park again ahead of iftar planned by Anti-Capitalist Muslims and BDP deputies
Turkish riot police surround anti-government protestors during a demonstration in Istanbul’s Gezi Park on July 28. The demonstration was part of “traveling,” anti-capitalist iftar meals that are being organized in a different public space each evening during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Police forces blocked entry to Istanbul’s Gezi Park before cordoning off Taksim Square in an attempt to restrict access to a group that had gathered at the entrance to the park. AFP photo
