Georgian Armenians, particularly Armenians of Javakhk, connected great hopes with the Georgian Dream party, the first political force in the history of post-Soviet Georgia that visited Javakhk on the eve of the election day as part of its election campaign, raised the problems faced by the region and gave clear promises, MP, head of Javakhk union Shirak Torosyan told a news conference in Yerevan.
“Currently, there is the following situation in Javakhk: violence has stopped, there is no atmosphere of fear, people can communicate freely and they are not afraid to talk about politics,” Torosyan said.
“I think it is important that during his official visit to Yerevan Bidzina Ivanishvili confirmed his promises concerning Georgian Armenians and announced that all promises should be kept,” Torosyan said.
According to him, the initiatives of leader of Georgian Dream party and Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili are sharply criticized by President Mikheil Saakashvili. One of such initiatives is Ivanishvili’s statement on the necessity to solve the issue of Abkhazian railway, Torosyan noted.
“Thus it was proved that Mikheil Saakashvili’s regional policy pays tribute to Turkey-Azerbaijan tandem,” he stressed.
