YEREVAN. – American Armenian rock musician and songwriter Serj Tankian, who is the co-founder and lead vocalist of renowned System of a Down band, arrived in Yerevan Wednesday.
He has arrived along with Armenian-American film director Eric Nazarian, and is going to be an observer during the upcoming parliamentary elections in the country.
Earlier, Canadian Armenian actress Arsinée Khanjian, noted that her husband, Canadian Armenian film director Atom Egoyan, and Serj Tankian would arrive in Armenia in late March.
“We will conduct observation mission during the parliamentary elections. Besides Tankian, Nazarian, Yegoyan and me, many people have responded to us and will be in Armenia on April 2,” she said.
A group of renowned Diaspora Armenians launched the Justice Within Armenia initiative, which aims to contribute to the democratic changes in Armenia. The initiative intends to train Diaspora Armenian observers, who will arrive in Armenia to observe the election process.
