Everything must be done to move from conflict to peaceful coexistence, MEP Petras Aushtrevicius, one of the authors of the European Parliament resolution on the release of Armenian prisoners of war, noted on Thursday.
During his speech in the European Parliament, he noted that the release of prisoners of war, hostages, and other detainees is the way forward. “One of the consequences of the conflict is the deployment of the so-called Russian peacekeepers to Nagorno Karabakh which arises other security concerns,” he noted.
“The EU was the passive observer of the conflict. It did not use its influence to prevent it. The EU must initiate and actively participate in the peace process,” he added.
