YEREVAN. – The political field of Armenia will become more active starting from mid-January 2017.
MP of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Sukias Avetisyan, said the aforementioned at a press-conference Saturday.
In his words, the Law “On Political Parties” is aimed at liberalizing the establishment of political parties in Armenia. “The people will themselves decide which political force to follow. The political field shouldn’t be turned into a place for fun,” Avetisyan noted.
Under the new edition of the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On Political Parties,” a political party shall be established upon the initiative of citizens at the founding congress with a quorum of no less than 100 people. The program and Charter of the party are also adopted at the congress. At the time of state registration, the party shall have no less than 1000 founders, who represent Yerevan and no less than 1/3 of the provinces. According to the same geographical distribution, a party shall have subdivisions in other places.
