YEREVAN. – Iran considers Armenia as the only country of the Eurasian Economic Union that can become a good platform for the exports of Iranian goods to EEU member states, Iranian First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri said during a business forum in Yerevan.
He added that this will create an opportunity for the Iranian entrepreneurs to produce part of the goods in Iran and another part in Armenia to be exported to the Eurasian Union member states.
Armenia and Iran have historical past and a wide range of political relations, Jahangiri said.
“Armenians of Iran together with the Iranian nation aspire for country’s progress. They are a link between two nations. There is high level political interaction, and there are no obstacles to the development. But I cannot express satisfaction in relation to trade and economic relations. We have to solve this problem,” Vice President said.
Speaking about North South Road Corridor and Armenia-Iran railway, the Iranian official stressed that these projects may have regional significance, and Iran is ready to implement them.
Mr. Jahangiri noted importance of the memorandums on cooperation, including a treaty on preferential prices, for the development of trade and economic ties. He added a committee has to be formed to tackle the problem.
