A former secretary of the National Secruity Council (NSC), Armen Gevorgyan, who also held the post of Armenia’s vice prime minister, is facing charges over graft and misappropriation of illegally acquired property.
The court is now considering his detention, Erik Aleksanyan, a defense lawyer in the criminal case, told Tert.am.
In August 2018, law enforcement authorities charged Gevorgyan with obstructing the administration of criminal justice.
Chief of the Special Investigative Service Sasun Khachatryan said earlier that he had exerted pressure upon a member of the Constitutional Court in an effort to hamper the decision-making in an appeal disputing the legitimacy of the 2008 presidential election.
