The Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory after V. Hambartsumyan has been declared a regional astronomical center by a decision of the International Astronomical Union, the Information and Analytical Center of Armenia’s National Academy of Sciences (NAS) said.
The observatory was also included in the interstate program on innovation cooperation of CIS states.
During a meeting of NAS Presidium today on July 1, a decision was made to draft a strategy program and reform the management system of the Byurakan observatory, considering its new status.
