The Berlin court has ruled that Spiegel and Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk public TV and Radio Company have been banned to spread groundless claims on Armenia’s ambassador to Armenia Ashot Smbatyan.
As reported by Armenpress, the court ruling states that the defendant, namely, Spiegel’s publisher, represented by Executive Director Thomas Hass and Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk Public Television and Radio Director, Carolla Ville, “is forbidden to be literal or meaningful on the plaintiff (or) disseminate and / or claim and / or distribute it. ”
For each case of breach of discipline, the court establishes a disciplinary sanction of up to EUR 250,000 or a disciplinary detention for up to 6 months.
Because of the urgency, the case was examined without the oral procedure.
Armenian Ambassador to Germany Ashot Smbatyan presented RAUE LLP petition office in the court.
According to a German study of the Spiegel magazine and Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk Public TV and Radio Company, German Federal Police has been investigating about arrests of Armenian mafia members for about three years, suspecting about Armenian Ambassador to Germany Ashot Smbatyan.
Ashot Smbatyan denied his involvement with the group and qualified this charge as absurd.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia noted that it is in touch with the German authorities to clarify the credibility of these allegations in the press.
