The husband of an Azerbaijani DJ has agreed to hand over £4 million of suspected dirty money after the couple were accused by officials of profiting from the proceeds of corruption.
Suleyman Javadov, who lives in London, will surrender the cash to the National Crime Agency after admitting that it came into the country illegally.
Officials had alleged that it was generated as part of a vast global network of shell companies dubbed the “Azerbaijan laundromat”, with some of it said to have been used to pay for models to fly by private jet to Ibiza club nights.
Javadov’s father is a former deputy energy minister in Azerbaijan. His wife is Izzat Khanim Javadova, known on Ibiza as DJ Mikaela Jav.
