Over 100,000 Iranian tourists visited Armenia in 2013 announced Mekhak Apresyan, head of a department of the Ministry of the Armenian economy in charge of tourism.
Mekhak Apresyan told reporters after talks with an Iranian delegation headed by Seyyed Mohammad Kazim Holdi-Nasab, a senior Iranian organization of tourism and cultural heritage.
According to official figures, the record number of Iranian tourists visiting Armenia was registered in 2008 with 134,000 people. The decrease in this number was largely caused by the devaluation of the Iranian national currency, the rial, in recent years due to Western sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
According to Seyyed Mohammad Kazim Holdi-Nasab, in 2013 some 5400 citizens of Armenia visited Iran as tourists.
