The reports from Syria arouse concern, Armenia’s Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan stated in Parliament, on Wednesday, in response to a question raised by Tachat Vardapetyan, an MP of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).
Terrorists groups are shelling settlements, with the Armenian-populated Nor Ghyugh being one of the targets.
“We have registered four persons killed over the weeks – a mother and a son, an old woman and a 14-year-old child. In any case, our emergency, diplomatic and spiritual structures are working. Schools and churches are operating, seeking to organize the community’s life,” Ms Hakobyan said.
Syria Armenians leaving for Europe are most active in the local Armenian communities. In Sweden they have opened an Armenian church, whereas the local Armenian community has not been able to for years.
