Burhan Kuzu, head of the parliamentary Constitutional Reconciliation Commission and a deputy from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party), has stated that Germany had a hand in the Gezi Park protests intending to harm Turkey’s rapid economic development and to prevent construction of İstanbul’s third airport, slated to be the world’s largest.
Kuzu noted that Germany’s Frankfurt Airport will have a lower capacity than İstanbul’s third airport when it is completed. “Germany and its agents have conducted serious interference in the Gezi incidents. I’m not afraid to speak out on this. The same scenarios continue to be played out in other countries. They don’t want a developed Turkey,” Kuzu told the press in the northwestern province of Edirne on Sunday.
