Azerbaijani and Israeli Defense Ministers Zakir Hasanov and Benny Gantz discussed the prospects of military-technical cooperation between Baku and Tel Aviv during a telephone conversation,

In the course of the conversation the sides exchanged views on the prospects of bilateral military-technical cooperation, Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said.

Gantz noted that Azerbaijani-Israeli relations are based on friendship and mutual trust and expressed gratitude for the decision to open Azerbaijani Embassy in Tel Aviv.

We should have two ways: a process of normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, including the issues related to the Armenian minority in Azerbaijan, Karabakh, from the perspective of rights and security,” President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated this.

“Yesterday I had a telephone conversation with the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. We also talked about that. We clearly understand that there should be two ways, they should not be mixed together. However, Armenia’s statements are very contradictory.

They say that they recognize our territory and sovereignty. They not only say it, but also sign it in Prague and Sochi. It means the sovereignty of our entire territory. We all understand what sovereignty is. At the same time, they want to include issues related to the Armenian minority in Azerbaijan in the peace agreement. It will not happen,” Aliyev emphasized.

The prime minister is not good-natured

Nikol Pashinyan, the not-so-good Prime Minister of Armenia, was once an active opposition figure who brought himself to power. And even if we put aside the instigation of a war in order to get rid of the “burden of Artsakh” and suffering a defeat in it, today we have to say goodbye to our life during the previous era. Just as the people of the country that became independent after the dissolution of the Soviet state wished for their previous life. Of course, it is sad to hear such a comparison, let alone to do it, but it is impossible to escape from reality. People who follow news sources other than public television can recall many phenomena that should have changed for the better, but either stayed the same or got worse. During the previous era, for example, representatives of not only the ruling republican parties, but even the opposition parties could win in the local elections.

Today it is not even theoretically possible, because in such cases, either the winning candidates who are not from the political party end up in prisons, or everything is done to annul the election and appoint a new one. And the election of local self-governing bodies, or in our case, the council of elders, is the universal right of residents of any settlement. By universal, I mean the right to vote for a person who is a resident of the given settlement, but who is not a citizen of the country.

Let’s move on to foreign policy, which is already one of the main functions of the state. Nikol Pashinyan, who holds the position of RA Prime Minister, was a scourge not only in terms of war (we decided not to consider that), but also diplomatically. In Prague, he agreed to the American version of the so-called peace treaty with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and then he agreed to the Russian one in Moscow. Not forgetting to say that he agreed with the Russian one for a long time, which, of course, was a lie. And the lie is its food, material or spiritual. Then he meets Michel again in Tunis within the framework of the Francafonia and again it turns out that he agrees with the Prague Agreement.

Soon the President of the Russian Federation Vl. Putin will come to Yerevan, and again that person will agree to the Russian version. As far as I understand, it seems that he is playing with the West and the Russian Federation, without realizing that he is not the person to play with the powerful people of the world. And one day he will see that this game ended with another war and a bigger defeat. Unfortunately for us, but not in his terms. As a confirmation of this, I should mention the fact that his English teacher, who was appointed the RA ambassador to the USA, demonstratively goes and sits next to the Ukrainian ambassador in one of the meetings in Washington. If Armenia, not to mention Artsakh, was not dependent on Russia, its English teacher could afford to sit next to whoever she wanted. Even the devil. By the way, at one time he himself criticized the former for appointing unprofessional people as ambassadors.

On November 17, the Armenian America, Assembly organized an event honoring Nancy Pelosi in Washington, to which, among others, Oksana Markarova, the ambassador of Ukraine to Washington, was invited.

According to “Hraparak” community reports, Armenian Ambassador to the USA Lilit Makunts, who is considered one of Nikol Pashinyan’s close people, went to the beginning of the event and demonstratively sat next to the Ukrainian Ambassador, moreover, at the end of the event, she started organizing a photo session with Ambassador Markarova. This delicate moment did not escape the attention of those present and formed the opinion that the ambassador who enjoys the confidence of the Prime Minister of Armenia, whom the CP members consider to be the best ambassador, openly supports Ukraine in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, despite the fact that the official Yerevan tried to appear impartial before this moment and regularly expressed his loyalty to Russia as his main ally.

Of course, the American side was satisfied, but those present did not understand whether such behavior was another manifestation of the ambassador’s unprofessional activity or the expression of the official position of the Armenian leader, but it is a fact that Makunts’ behavior became the subject of discussions.

I haven’t had a chance to read the book “The Ottomans: Khans, Caesars, and Caliphs” by American historian and London School of Economics professor, Marc David Baer.

The Ottoman Empire was far from being a favored state. And it is at least an insult to the people under the Ottoman yoke to try to beautify the empire as if it were a paradise of multiculturalism and tolerance of different religions.

In a place where the Islamisation, especially of children, the abduction of Christian women and their confinement in the sultan’s harems as well as the persecution of Christians were part of the policy of the Ottoman sultans. If indeed the Ottoman sultans were tolerant of the free exercise by the subject peoples of their religious duties, why did the Treaty of Saint Stephen which was concluded on March 3, 1878, recognise Russia as the protector of all the Orthodox subjects of the sultan!

Greeks, Armenians and other minorities of the empire suffer the brutality and massacres unleashed by the government forces, while at the same time using the unbridled mobs.

The two reforming sultanic decrees that were issued primarily served the interests of the Ottoman Empire and little of its subjects.

The first imperial decree, known as the Hati Sherif of Gülhane, was issued in November 1839 by the Sultan at a time when the Ottoman Empire needed the support of European powers to face its dangerous rival, the Egyptian Muhammad Ali, and prevent the dissolution of it.

And the second decree, the famous Hati Humayun, which was supposed to bring about the necessary reforms to improve the living conditions of the enslaved peoples, was issued by Sultan Abdul Mejid I, in February 1856, after intense pressure on the Sublime Gate by France and Great Britain.

The sultan thus bought the Great Powers’ respect for the territorial integrity of the empire with the groundbreaking reform. However, the assumption of power by the absolutist Abdul Hamid II, who involved the Sublime Porte in a war with Russia (1877-1878), suspended the process of reforms and reinstated the absolutist regime.

An Azerbaijani delegation led by Defence Industry Minister Madat Guliyev is taking part in the 11th International Defense Exhibition IDEAS 2022 in Karachi, Pakistan.

The Azerbaijani minister got acquainted with the stands at the international defense exhibition, including visiting the stand of Turkey’s Defence Industry Committee, Azernews reported.

Madat Guliyev also held a meeting with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Defense Production Muhammad Israr Tareen, during which they discussed issues of mutual interest and prospects for military-technical cooperation.

Muhammad Israr Tareen welcomed Guliyev at IDEAS 2022 and said that Pakistan and Azerbaijan enjoy “cordial and brotherly relations”.

Emphasizing the significance of cooperation between the two countries, he stated that there are opportunities to improve mutual cooperation in defense production.

The federal minister also assured Pakistan’s wholehearted support for the sovereignty and defense of Azerbaijan.

The event, which will last from November 15-18, is attended by over 300 delegations from over 57 countries.

On June 9, 2022, Pakistan and Azerbaijan marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. There is a special political bond between Pakistan and Azerbaijan that transcends their geographical distance, according to Azernews.

Since Azerbaijan’s independence, various events have been held to discuss how to boost multifaceted cooperation, as well as trade between Azerbaijan and Pakistan. The two fraternal nations enjoy strategic partnership relations.

During the Azerbaijani invasion of the indigenously Armenian Nagorno-Karabakh in 2020, Pakistan was among the first countries voicing political support for Azerbaijan. Pakistan also supports Azerbaijan in legitimizing occupation efforts over the historically Armenian territory.
