Ankara supporting anti-Damascus terrorists: Syria UN envoy

The Syrian ambassador to the UN has accused Turkey of aiding terrorist groups operating against the Damascus government.

In a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Wednesday, Bashar Ja’afari also called on the UN to take action to bring an end to the Ankara government’s crimes against Syrian refugees living in Turkey.

Ja’afari said armed terrorist groups, with members from over 100 countries, are being provided with funding, weapons, logistical and materiel support “by states and regimes from the region and beyond” in their war against Syria.

“During the crisis, Turkish interference in Syria’s internal affairs took many forms, including direct involvement of the regime of [Turkish President Recep Tayyip] Erdogan, the Turkish armed forces in offensive military operations in support of terrorists,” he noted.

The diplomat said the Turkish forces “have also provided covering fire for the terrorists’ movements inside Syrian territory or along the Syrian-Turkish border, in order to facilitate the infiltration of terrorist mercenaries from Turkish territory into Syrian territory.”

He urged the UN “to take a firm stand” to “put an end to these violations and crimes” committed by Ankara against Syria as well as Syrian refugees in Turkey, accusing Erdogan of dreaming “of reviving the Ottoman colonial legacy.”

Elsewhere in his comments, Ja’afari described Ankara’s recent downing of a Russian fighter jet on the Syrian soil as “a stab in the back of the heroes who are combating the terrorism” perpetrated by the Takfiri Daesh terrorist group.

On November 24, Turkey downed a Russian Su-24M Fencer aircraft, claiming that the fighter jet had repeatedly violated the Turkish airspace.

Moscow, however, dismissed Ankara’s claims, stressing that the plane was brought down in Syria’s airspace, where Russia has been conducting operations against Takfiri terrorists since September 30 upon a request by the Damascus government.

In his letter, Ja’afari also denounced Turkey’s allegations regarding the incident as a futile attempt to cover up the involvement of the Erdogan administration in the smuggling of Syrian oil by Daesh into Turkey and the smuggling of arms to terrorists in Syria.

Earlier this month, Russia released photos showing columns of tanker trucks purportedly loading oil at Daesh-controlled installations in Syria and Iraq before entering neighboring Turkey.

Turkish terrorist fleeing Syria for Turkey has doubled: Army

December 27, 2015 By administrator

3c1f953f-0021-4019-8dfe-ca1761e3b4f3The number of foreign-backed terrorists withdrawing from Syria toward the Turkish border has doubled in the wake of the recent achievements made by Syrian forces.

Syrian Army spokesman Brigadier General Ali Mayhoub said Saturday that the Syrian army, in cooperation with popular defense groups, has made fresh gains in the fight against Takfiri terrorists in many areas including the capital city, Damascus, Dara’a, Suwayda, Latakia, Aleppo, Hama, and Homs.

Also on Saturday, the Syrian air force destroyed a convoy of vehicles belonging to the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front in the village of al-Hbeit, on the border between Idlib and Hama provinces.

Meanwhile, army units discovered a 200-meter-long tunnel between Housh al-Farah and Housh Nasri in Douma Farms area, located east of Damascus, where the Takfiri Daesh terrorists are active, Syria’s official news agency, SANA, reported.

The tunnel was reportedly used for the transfer of weapons and the movement of the militants.

The army also said it had destroyed command positions of militants in the countryside of Hama and Idlib provinces over the past 24 hours.

A command position of the so-called Ahrar al-Sham terrorist group was ruined in Hama, while the air force also destroyed a command position of the al-Nusra Front and other Takfiri groups in an area located east of the town of Latamna. They also destroyed a command position in Ma’ar Kibba village, north of Hama.

The Syrian army has recently carried out a number of successful operations to recapture areas under the control of terrorists. The military gains have been expedited since Russia, acting on an official request of Damascus, began an aerial campaign against terrorist positions in Syria on September 30.

Russian Warplanes Hit 1,093 Terrorist Targets in Syria Over Past 6 Days

December 23, 2015 By administrator

10297398011Russian warplanes have conducted 302 sorties and hit 1,093 terrorist targets in Syria over the past six days, the Russian Defense Ministry said Wednesday.

“Jets from the Russian air group in the Syrian Arab Republic have conducted 302 sorties and hit 1,093 targets in the provinces of Idlib, Aleppo, Deir ez-Zor, Hama and Homs from December 18 to December 23,” Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.

Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said that Russian jets destroyed a terrorist training camp in the Syrian province of Idlib hosting fighters from Turkey and CIS states.

“Russian Su-34 bombers destroyed a major terrorist training camp in the Idlib province. A large group of experienced instructors from neighboring states had been stationed in the camp. Information about this camp, where the majority of terrorists arriving from Turkey were citizens of CIS countries, was received from representatives of the Syrian patriotic opposition about a week ago.”

Moreover, the Russian Defense Ministry spokesman said that Su-34 aircraft have destroyed two oil storage facilities and dozens of fuel pumps in the Deir ez-Zor province.

A Russian Su-24 bomber launched an attack on Daesh military equipment in the Syrian province of Homs, destroying six off-road vehicles equipped with heavy machine guns and three militants’ trucks.

“Russia’s Su-24 bomber conducted airstrikes against a concentration of Daesh military equipment in the Homs province.”

A Su-34 jet also destroyed a Ahrar ash-Sham militant group’s command post in the Aleppo province, Konashenkov said.

Russia Crushes More Than 600 Terrorist Targets in 3 Days – Defense Ministry

December 8, 2015 By administrator

Bombing SyriaAs part of Moscow’s anti-terror campaign, Russian warplanes have carried out 300 sorties against targets in Syria over the last three days.

“We carried out more than 300 combat missions in Syria in the past three days, hitting over 600 various targets,” Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu told Putin.

One video released by the Defense Department shows the massive airstrikes carried out by Long-range bombers.

Shoigu also said that the air force is strictly implementing Supreme Command’s order to carry out combat missions in Syria alongside fighter jets, according to RIA Novosti.

The missions were carried out by Tu-22 long-range bombers and strike aircraft from the Russia air group.

The Russian military has also, for the first time, launched cruise missiles against terrorist targets in Syria from a submarine in the Mediterranean.

“We launched Kalibr cruise missiles from the Rostov-on-Don submarine in the Mediterranean Sea,” Shoigu said, adding that the missiles were launched from a submerged position.

The Defense Minister also added that both Israel and the United States were informed about Russia’s missile strikes in advance.

“I can confirm for you that we did get the notification of the airstrikes that were conducted by the Russians,” US Defense Department Press Secretary Peter Cook confirmed, speaking to reporters on Tuesday.

Moscow has conducted airstrikes against Daesh in Syria since September 30, acting at the request of the legitimate government of Bashar al-Assad. Russian warships stationed in the Caspian Sea have also launched successful cruise missile strikes against the terrorist group.

Syria-Update: Russian Air Force kills several terrorist leaders in Syria over past week – Defense Ministry

December 4, 2015 By administrator

5661b8f2c4618865118b45a5Several terrorist leaders have been killed in Russian airstrikes in Syria over the past week, the Defense Ministry said.

In Latakia province, a dugout with the leader of a large terror group named Abu Abdu and several other field commanders has been destroyed, General-Major Igor Konashenkov, a Defense Ministry spokesman, told a media briefing on Friday.

“Also during the week, several [terrorist] leaders were eliminated near the village of el-Latamna in Hama province,” he added.

Illegal oil trade by the terrorists was also targeted by the Russian Air Force, with Konashenkov speaking of “12 oil pump stations, eight oil fields and refineries, and over 170 oil tanker trucks” being destroyed over the past seven days.

“Over the past week, between November 26 and December 4, Russian aircraft have performed 431 sorties from the Khmeimim airbase [in Syria’s Latakia province] and carried out 1,458 pinpoint airstrikes against terrorist facilities in the provinces of Aleppo, Idlib, Latakia, Hama, Homs, Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa,” he said.

According to Konashenkov, terrorist command centers, strongholds, militant training camps and arms depots were targeted.

“I want to emphasize that all our bomber and attack planes received cover from Su-30 [fighter jets],” he stressed.

The measure was implemented after the downing of a Russian Su-24 bomber by the Turkish Air Force on November 24.

Konashenkov urged the US-led coalition to share any intelligence it has on the illegal oil trade by Islamic State.

“Most of the drones of the so-called coalition are carrying out surveillance over the areas of [IS] oil production and along the Syrian-Turkish border, which is the main smuggling route for oil,” he said.

“It seems obvious that our colleagues, who perform such large-scale video monitoring in these areas – if they had such a desire – could have shared with the public the information on what’s happening on the Syrian-Turkish border and on the volumes and destination of the oil smuggled by the terrorists,” Konashenkov added.

Earlier this week, the Defense Ministry presented maps and satellite images that it says prove that Turkey is the main destination of smuggled oil, accusing the country’s leadership, including President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, of financial ties with terrorists.

Konashenkov also spoke of the heavy losses suffered by the terrorists in Syria as a result of Russian airstrikes.

“According to the information confirmed through various channels, the militants are suffering serious losses, are demoralized and are trying to leave their positions,” he said.

The Russian Air Force has been conducting daily airstrikes against Islamic State, al-Nusra Front and other terror groups since September 30 at the request of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

‘Turkey Main Sponsor of Terrorists in Syria’ – Lebanese Politician

December 4, 2015 By administrator

1030846881Turkey is the main sponsor of terrorist groups in Syria. The international community should start fighting terrorism with pressuring the Turkish government that it abandons its support for terrorism.

The fight against international terrorism should start with pressuring Turkey, now the main sponsor for militants groups in Syria, leader of the Lebanese orthodox party Masarik Roderick Khoury said.

“Turkey is the first and main power which funds and supplies weapons to terrorist groups. We believe the fight against terrorism should begin with pressuring Turkey. Now Turkey is the main sponsor of terrorism in the region,” Khoury said at a press conference in Moscow.

“The name of the real leader of the terrorists is Tayyip Erdogan [Turkish President]. The others like Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi [Daesh/ISIL leader] and al-Qaeda are just his servants. Al-Nusra Front also carries out orders from Turkey,” he pointed out.

According to him, there is real evidence to the allegations. Khoury said that after the city of Kassab, near Latakia, was liberated from terrorists Turkish ambulance vehicles, clothes and weapons were found there.

Khoury added that when the terrorists take Syrian or Lebanese hostages they only can be released after negotiations with Turkey.

Russia bombed the Turkmen terrorists who attacked Kessab

November 24, 2015 By administrator

arton119012-480x442The Russian aviation bombed the Turkmen area Bayırbucak.

Turkmen terrorists started fleeing to Turkey.

These same terrorists who attacked the Armenian village of Kessab a year ago.

Very quickly the Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said, “We have given instructions to protect our Turkmen brothers Bayırbucak”.

He severely condemned the operations carried out by the Syrian regime against civilians Bayirbucak the Turkmen region in north-western Syria.

“All night we discussed the situation with our military leaders, those of Intelligence and our diplomacy,” he said.

“In recent days, incessant attacks are carried out in the region Bayirbucak in Syria, especially against our Turkmen brothers, he continued. These attacks show once again the degree of barbarity of the regime in Damascus. They specifically target civilians. “

Ahmet Davutoglu also confirmed that Russian aircraft are involved in these operations.

“The Russian Ambassador in Ankara was summoned to the Ministry for Russian aircraft strikes on the Turkmen villages. We told him that the strikes have no connection with the fight against Daesh and they target civilians Turkmen villages. We asked that these operations cease immediately. “Said Turkish Prime Minister.

“We had the necessary discussions with the Russian authorities so that these strikes, which their aviation takes part, either immediately arrested. The supposed fight against Daesh can not be done by bombing civilians near our borders. Those involved in these killings will be responsible if a new flow of refugees would arrive in Turkey, “he said.

“We oppose any attack against civilians. We are against any attack that lead to new flows of refugees at our borders. And Bayirbucak of Turkmen living there for centuries are also our brothers like all Syrians. That is why we condemn these barbaric attacks and invite the world to do the same. No one can justify the killings of our brothers Turkmen, Kurds and Arabs under the guise of fighting against terrorism, “he has yet explained.

“We recall once again the Syrian regime, we will respond appropriately to any attack against civilians near our border, they are Turkmen, Kurds and Arabs, he has yet launched. So far, 40 Turkmen civilians were wounded. We also had a meeting with the Russian authorities to express our concerns about it, “Davutoglu warned.

Maya Arakon: Turkey cannot condemn terror attacks beyond its borders while feeding ISIL internally

November 22, 2015 By administrator

Maya Arakon (Photo: Today’s Zaman, Mehmet Yaman)

Yes, there is support for ISIL in Turkey but there are expectations from the West from Turkey, too, right?

Turkish leaders cannot condemn terror attacks outside the country while feeding ISIL militants internally. Turkey has made a mistake — thinking that the world does not see this hypocrisy is foolish. Turkey will have to choose its line regarding ISIL internally and externally. However, we have not seen such a will in that direction. Turkish leaders do not even refer to ISIL as ISIL, as the world does, but uses other words to refer to ISIL, including Daesh [the arabic acronym for ISIL] and the DH. Psychologists can explain this better but using different names to refer to the same thing is usually done to complicate and confuse. We lost young people in the Suruç and Ankara attacks and Turkish officials called it a “cocktail attack” committed by ISIL and the PKK. I’ve been studying terrorsim for 20 years and I have not heard such a term as “cocktail terrorism.” Turkey’s first priority should have been a fight against ISIL and not a fight against the PKK because apparently ISIL is more dangerous than the PKK and most certainly poses imminent danger.

With renewed commitment to act against ISIL alongside the United States, do you think Turkey can still insist on acting against the pro-Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD)?

It still does. In domestic politics, this is the card played out all the time but we will see how much Turkey can be insistent on this line. In the international arena, coming against the PYD is laughable as it is the PYD that is the main fighting force against ISIL in Syria.

Turkish terrorist are fleeing syria to Turkey under name Turkmen for protection

November 22, 2015 By administrator

Screen Shot 2015-10-05 at 8.13.28 AMNearly 1,500 so called Turkmens from villages in northern Syria have fled to the Turkish border amid an offensive targeting their area, the governor of the Turkish border province Hatay has said.

Army forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad have been carrying out attacks on opposition groups in a rural area of Latakia, which is inhabited by Turkmens, in a military operation supported by Russian forces. Turkey’s government has condemned the attacks, summoning the Russian ambassador in Ankara to protest Russian military support for the Syrian offensive.

Speaking after a meeting with representatives of Syrian Turkmen groups in the Yayladağ district on Saturday evening, Governor Ercan Topaca said measures have been taken to meet humanitarian needs of the Turkmens, including tents, blankets and food. Turkish authorities have already provided 575 tents, 4,200 blankets and 20,000 cans of food and will begin serving hot meals as of Sunday, he said.

He said the Turkmens will be let into Turkey if such a need arises, with the authorities currently working on providing the infrastructure on the Turkish side of the border for a possible entry of the Turkmens.

11 Daesh-linked terrorists killed in Russia’s North Caucusus

November 22, 2015 By administrator

Daesh terrorist caucususEleven militants affiliated to the Takfiri Daesh terrorist group have been killed by security forces in Russia’s North Caucasus region.

“According to preliminary information, 11 bandits have been neutralized,” Russia’s national anti-terrorism committee said in a statement cited by TASS news agency on Sunday.

“All of them were participants in an armed gang whose members swore loyalty to IS,” added the statement, using another acronym for Daesh.

The militants, who were cornered in a forest area outside the city of Nalchik in the Kabardino-Balkaria region, had launched an attack against the security forces, according to the anti-terrorism committee.

Earlier this month, Russia announced that its security forces had killed the leader of a Daesh-linked group of militants in the Kabardino-Balkaria region in North Caucusus.

The North Caucasus militants had previously been united together under a local so-called Caucasus Emirate militant organization; however, they are now joining Daesh, which declared in June that it had established a franchise there.

An estimated 5,000 to 7,000 militants hailing former Soviet countries have joined Daesh, which is mainly operating in Syria and Iraq, according to Russian President Vladamir Putin.

The Daesh Takfiri group in Syria has been the target of an aerial campaign by Russia.

The terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the bombing of a Russian passenger jet last month, which killed all the 224 people on board. Russia has since intensified its attacks against Daesh in Syria.

Daesh is also responsible for the November 13 attacks in the French capital of Paris, as well as twin bombings in the Lebanese capital a day earlier.
