Azeris terrorist attack Armenian team as Karabakh athlete scores victory (video)

May 14, 2016 By administrator

212266A scandalous incident occurred during the Open European Kung fu Championship, currently underway in Ukraine’s Lviv, Ermenihaber.am reports.

As a Karabakh sportsman, Davit Petrosyan was about to score victory against his Azerbaijani rival, the latter’s cornerman attempted to beat the Armenian athlete. Also joining the provocation was the Azeri trainer who hit Petrosyan from the back. The Azerbaijani trainer and sportsmen then attacked the members of the Armenian national team with clubs.

The Azerbaijani team seemed to have planned the attack, having brought the clubs to the tournament in advance. In their hysteria, the Azeris even hit the President of the European Kung Fu Federation, Nikolay Matulyovsky, who tried to defend the Karabakh athlete.

Police officers intervened in the turmoil and brawl and disciplined the Azeri provokers.

The Azerbaijani team was ultimately disqualified.

The attacked Karabakh sportsman is the brother of soldier Marat Petrosyan who destroyed 5 tanks and 1 infantry fighting vehicle during the 4-day war in early April.

In another fight, Armenian sportsman Ashot Harutyunyan defeated another member of Azerbaijan’s team.

Istanbul the Hub of Terrorism: US warns of ‘credible threats’ to tourist areas in Istanbul, Antalya

April 9, 2016 By administrator

n_97562_1The United States embassy in Turkey on April 9 warned American citizens of “credible threats” to tourist areas in Istanbul and the Mediterranean resort city of Antalya, a day after Israel warned of “imminent risks” of attacks.

“The U.S. Mission in Turkey would like to inform U.S. citizens that there are credible threats to tourist areas, in particular to public squares and docks in Istanbul and Antalya,” read the emergency travel warning published on its official website.

On April 8, Israel reissued and accentuated a warning to its citizens to avoid Turkey over the “immediate risks” of attacks, weeks after three Israelis were killed in an Istanbul suicide bombing.

“Following a situational assessment, we are reiterating and sharpening the high level of threat in Turkey,” the counter terrorism bureau said.

Its warning came hours after the Turkish foreign ministry announced “progress towards finalizing the agreement” on restoring ties with Israel, a day after both sides held talks in London.

“There are immediate risks of attacks being carried out in the country, and we stress the threat applies to all tourism sites in Turkey,” Israel’s counter terrorism bureau said in a statement.

It called on all Israelis to avoid visiting Turkey and urged Israeli tourists there to leave “as soon as possible,” defining the threat as level 2 — “concrete and high” — the same as in its previous warning from March 28.

Three Israelis and an Iranian were killed and 39 people wounded when a man blew himself up on Istanbul’s Istiklal Avenue, a famous shopping street in the heart of Turkey’s largest city, on March 19.

Turkey said the bomber had links to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), and on April 5 Israel’s defense ministry said he had most likely targeted the Israelis deliberately.

Russian Warplanes Strike Almost 200 Terrorist Targets in Syria in Two Days

February 24, 2016 By administrator

Sukhoi_Su_34_Fullback_SyriaRussian jets carried out 187 airstrikes on terrorist targets in Syria in the course of 62 sorties during the past two days, the Russian Defense Ministry spokesman said Wednesday. Areas where warring sides agreed to cease hostilities and start negotiations were not targeted, he emphasized.

The Russian Aerospace Forces continue to attack militant groups in Syria which are not included in the cessation of hostilities agreement and are designated as terrorist organizations by the UN, Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said.

“During the past two days, 187 targets in the provinces of Hama, Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor, Aleppo and Homs were struck in the course of 62 sorties.”

A Su-34 bomber destroyed over 10 strongholds and neutralized more than 50 militants in the Hama province, he elaborated.

“The intensity of Russian airstrikes in Syria fell significantly in the past two days, especially in areas where local authorities and armed groups have agreed to cease hostilities and start negotiations. We are not targeting those areas at all,” Konashenkov said.

The spokesman emphasized that airstrikes are conducted only against militant groups designated as terrorist organization by the United Nations.

“The agreement between Russia and the US [on cessation of hostilities in Syria] does not apply to Daesh, al-Nusra Front and other militants, designated as terrorist organizations by the UN Security Council.”

On Monday, US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced that an agreement on cessation of hostilities between the Syrian government of President Bashar Assad and the armed opposition factions had been reached. The agreement will come into force on February 27.

Russia has been fighting terrorists in Syria since September 30 at President Assad’s request.

EUROPEAN UNION The PKK must be removed from the EU list of terrorist organizations – Call MEPs

February 20, 2016 By administrator

arton122394-480x90Marie-Christine VERGIAT, European MP has launched an appeal to member states to remove the PKK from the terrorist list and received the support of over 100 MEPs. Here is the call and the list of signatories:

The PKK must be removed from the EU list of terrorist organizations

Call more than 100 European parliamentarians to Member States

The prospect of achieving a peaceful and democratic solution to the Kurdish question in Turkey is threatened. The violence intensifies and pose a serious risk to the stability of Turkey and the region. In Turkey, we are facing more and more to an explosion of violence that puts the idea of a peace process and weakens the fight against Daech.

Already, the European Union through the voice of its High Representative but also the European Council, the UN and the US have launched appeals for peace in Turkey.

In this context, there is evidence that the PKK’s inclusion on this list is therefore opposed to the establishment of peace, dialogue and negotiations. It aids in the name of the fight against terrorism, violations of human rights, allows the restriction of thought and press freedoms.

The Kurds are an important component of the political struggles in the Middle East and a peaceful solution to the Kurdish conflict is not possible without negotiations with the PKK, which were accepted by the former Prime Minister and current President Erdogan. Similarly in Northern Ireland, a peaceful solution will be possible only by involving all concerned parties.

We parliamentarians undersigned, ask the Council of the European Union that this list be revised and that the PKK removed from the list of EU terrorist organizations.

SYRIA Assad: The main battle in Aleppo aims to cut the road with Turkey

February 13, 2016 By administrator

arton122065-480x325The “main battle” for Aleppo in northern Syria aims to “cut the road” between the province and Turkey, not to take the country’s second city, said Syrian President Bashar Assad .

The importance of this road cut is that it is “the main supply route for terrorists,” he said in an exclusive interview with AFP, his first to a media failure since the month last of the Geneva talks and the launch by its army earlier this month of a major military offensive in the region of Aleppo (north) supported by the bombing of the Russian aviation.

Assad believes there is a risk of a Turkish and Saudi intervention in Syria

Syrian President Bashar Assad said there was a risk of a Turkish and Saudi military intervention in Syria but that his forces would “deal”.

“It’s a possibility that I can not be excluded for the simple reason that (Turkish President Recep Tayyip) Erdogan is someone intolerant of radical, pro-Muslim Brotherhood and lives Ottoman dream (.. .) It is the same for Saudi Arabia. In any case such an action will not be easy for them and we will certainly deal with it, “he said in an exclusive interview with AFP.

Lavrov: Russia won’t forgive Turkey’s “aiding and abetting terrorists”

February 4, 2016 By administrator

f56b31cd04da3e_56b31cd04da79.thumbMoscow will not forgive Turkey’s aiding and abetting terrorists but will stay friendly towards the Turkish people, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with Italy’s Limes magazine, the news agency TASS reports.
Turkey’s denial of observation flight hinders efforts to overcome crisis Russia insists on closing Turkish-Syrian border — FM Syrian Foreign Ministry says Turkish artillery shelled Latakia’s outskirt in Syria Turkey gave no proof of alleged violation of its airspace by Russian warplane — general Russia waiting for explanation from NATO over shelling of Syrian territory from Turkey “We will not forgive this aiding and abetting terrorists,” he said. “But we have never put an equal mark between some of the current ruling establishment that bear direct responsibility for the death of our servicemens in Syria, and our old and reliable friends among the Turkish people.” The Russian top diplomat stressed that anti-terrorism efforts, as well as Syrian settlement are of principal importance for Russia.
“That is why the attack of the Turkish air force on the Russian bomber cannot change our approaches,” he said.
“If Turkey’s provocation was meant to achieve this goal, its inventors have obviously failed.” According to the Russian diplomat, after Turkey’s attack on the Russian Su-24 bomber in November a moment of truth arrived in the fight against terrorism. “Ankara’s move was an unprecedented challenge for the Russian Federation,” Lavrov said. “It is evident that such actions could not but impact the Russian-Turkish relations, and the confidence for Turkey as a partner has been seriously shattered,” Lavrov said.

Russia accuses Turkey of supporting terrorist groups al-Nusra and Ahrar ash-Sham in Syria

January 21, 2016 By administrator

204287Terrorist groups al-Nusra and Ahrar ash-Sham have received serious reinforcements from Turkey in the Syrian province of Aleppo, a spokesperson for the Russian Foreign ministry said Thursday, January 21, Sputnik News reports.

“Unfortunately, in recent days, we noticed that terror groups have intensified their activities ahead of planned intra-Syrian talks,” Maria Zakharova told a weekly press briefing.

Terrorists may use fortifications built by Turkey on its border with Syria as strongholds, the spokeswoman said, adding that Moscow was concerned about increased Turkish military incursions into Syria.

“While all interested sides pin their hopes on the start of a meaningful and inclusive dialogue between the Syrian government and the opposition, some external forces continue helping militants in Syria, including terrorist groups, providing them with arms and ammunition,” she said.

Russia will continue its humanitarian operation in Syria, Zakharova noted, adding that Moscow was surprised over Washington’s claims that it “does not see” Russian humanitarian aid deliveries to the war-torn country.

Turkey: Police detain 12 academics amid accusations by president of ‘terrorist propaganda’

January 15, 2016 By administrator

acd.thumbPolice in the northwestern province of Kocaeli have detained 12 academics that signed a petition to call for an end to military operations in Southeast Anatolia, just days after President Recep Erdoğan slammed the academics for making “terrorist propaganda,” the Hurriyet Daily News reports.

The Kocaeli Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation against 21 academics from Kocaeli University that signed a petition by the “Academics for Peace” initiative. The signatories of the petition, some 1,128 local and international academics and intellectuals, were labelled “poor excuses for intellectuals,” by Erdoğan.

Police raided the academics’ houses early on Jan. 15 and detained 12 who were at their declared addresses at the time. The remaining nine will also be detained, state-run Anadolu Agency said, quoting sources from the police.

According to reports, the academics are being charged with violating the controversial Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code, according to which it is illegal to insult the Turkish nation, the state of the Turkish Republic or the Grand Assembly of Turkey and the state’s judicial institutions. The academics are also accused of “terrorist propaganda.”

The investigation and the detentions come soon after Turkey’s president slammed the petition’s signatories, arguing the human rights violations in the southeast are being committed by outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants and not the Turkish state.

“Despite all of these facts, this crowd, which calls itself academics, accuses the state through a statement. Not only this, they also invite foreigners to monitor developments. This is the mentality of colonialism,” he said. Likening today’s situation with the Turkish War of Independence, Erdoğan said the country was again facing “treason” from “so-called intellectuals.”

“Hey, you so-called intellectuals! You are not enlightened persons, you are in the dark. You are nothing like intellectuals. You are ignorant and dark, not even knowing about the east or the southeast. We know these places just like we know our home addresses,” he said, reiterating his position that Turkey’s problem is “not a Kurdish one, but one of terror.”
