Israeli jets hit Syria army position in Hama Province, kill 2 soldiers

September 7, 2017 By administrator

At least two Syrian soldiers have been killed after Israeli fighter jets targeted an army position in the west-central province of Hama, in yet another act of aggression against the Arab country

“Israeli warplanes at 2:42 a.m. today fired a number of missiles from Lebanese air space, targeting one of our military positions near Masyaf, which led to material damage and the deaths of two members of the site,” the army said in a statement on Thursday.

The statement further warned against the “dangerous repercussions of this aggressive action to the security and stability of the region.”

“This aggression comes in a desperate attempt to raise the collapsed morale of the ISIS (Daesh) terrorists after the sweeping victories achieved by the Syrian Arab Army against terrorism at more than one front, and it affirms the direct support provided by the Israeli entity to the ISIS and other terrorist organizations,” it added.

Masyaf is located approximately 60 kilometers east of the coastal city of Tartus, where Russia holds a naval base.

Earlier media reports said the Israeli military had struck a scientific research facility in Masyaf.

Citing pro-government activists, Al-Masdar News, a pan-Arab news and commentary website, said Thursday that Israeli warplanes targeted the Scientific Studies and Research Center (SSRC) in Masyaf in Hama.

Meanwhile the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said two facilities were hit, a scientific research center and a nearby military base. It said the Israeli assault also wounded five people.

“Many explosions were heard in the area after the air raid,” said the group’s head, Rami Abdulrahman, adding that some of the blasts may have been secondary explosions from a missile storage facility being hit.

Israeli officials have not immediately commented on the reports.

Over the past years, the Israeli military has carried out sporadic attacks against various targets across Syria in what Damascus views as an attempt to boost the Takfiri terror groups that have been taking heavy blows from the Syrian army and allied forces on the battle ground.

The latest Israeli strike comes just days after the Syrian army, backed by popular defense groups and Russia airpower, managed to break the years-long siege imposed by the Daesh terror group on the eastern city of Dayr al-Zawr.

Cyprus: Russian jets granted use of Greek Cypriot airbase if in ‘difficult situation’

December 9, 2015 By administrator

n_92318_1Greek Cypriot President Nikos Anastasiades has said Russian fighter jets in Syria could use military bases and other airports in Greek Cyprus if caught in a “difficult situation.”

In Athens for a three-way talk with Greece, Egypt and Cyprus, Anastasiades said Russian warplanes and ships could take on supplies from the country and use its military airbase or other airports in case of need.

“In critical situations, Russian ships or aircrafts are allowed to take supplies. This is not with an aim to [facilitate] attacks but as aid,” said Anastasiades on Dec. 9.

“If Russian warplanes are in a difficult situation they can use the Andreas Papandreou military base or the other airports,” he added.

Anastasiades said the deal reached with Russia was to provide the same conveniences Greek Cyprus provides to Germany and France.

Two days before Anastasiades’ remarks, Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides said there was a “dialogue between the governments of Cyprus and Russia on the matter of facilities for humanitarian and emergency purposes,” which would allow Russian warplanes carrying out strikes in support of Syria’s president to use its airports in case of emergencies.

Cyprus was obliged by law to offer similar facilities to other countries in emergency situations, particularly when lives are at risk, Kasoulides said, citing their arrangement with France.

“International law requires that help is given in an emergency situation and there is agreement. With Moscow there is a legal drafting process for an agreement also,” he added.

French jets drop 20 bombs in massive anti-ISIS raid in Syria

November 15, 2015 By administrator

5648fd10c3618859268b4597France has carried out a massive airstrike on an Islamic State stronghold in Raqqa, Syria. It struck dozen’s of targets including a command and control center, training camp and munitions warehouse, the country’s defense ministry announced.

Twelve French aircraft, including 10 fighter jets, took part in the country’s biggest air raid in Syria, the statement from the defense ministry read.

The strike, coordinated with the United States, was carried out simultaneously from Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.

“The first target destroyed was used by Daesh (a derogatory Arabic acronym for IS) as a command post, jihadist recruitment center and arms and munitions depot. The second held a terrorist training camp,” a ministry statement said, adding that in total some 20 bombs were dropped in the raid.

Following the wave of terror in Paris, US intelligence services have expanded their data sharing with France and have begun providing “targeting packages” on Islamic State position, the Wall Street Journal reported earlier on Sunday.

The allies have agreed on “concrete steps the US and French militaries should take to further intensify our close cooperation in prosecuting a sustained campaign” against IS, Pentagon press secretary Peter Cook said in a statement, following a phone call between US Secretary of Defense Ash Carter and the French Minister of Defense Jean-Yves Le Drian.

Damascus, Aleppo, Hama, Russian Jets Destroy 49 Terrorist Targets in Syria

October 19, 2015 By administrator

1028700872The Russian Air Force has conducted 33 sorties hitting 49 ISIL targets in the Syria’s provinces of Idlib, Latakia, Damascus, Aleppo, Hama, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday.

Russian strikes in Syria destroyed 2 terrorist command centers, 3 arms depots, 2 underground bunkers, 32 fighting positions in alpine terraine, 9 fortified firing positions and a plant producing firing platforms and reactive warheads, the Russian Defense Ministry’s spokesman said.

Russian Su-24 Fencer bomber has destroyed a command center of Nusra Front terrorist group in Syria’s Idlib, Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said.
“During aerial reconnaissance in the Idlib province, Russian drones uncovered one of the command centers of Jabhat al-Nusra [Nusra Front] group. As a result of using an aerial bomb, the terrorists’ command center and two cargo vehicles carrying ZU-23 missile launchers next to it were destroyed.”

Two Russian Su-25 jets have destroyed a major ISIL training camp in the Latakia province.
“Near Duwayr al-Akrad, Latakia province, two Su-25 attack aircraft conducted two successive strikes with high-explosive bombs on a large ISIL training camp detected by means of Russian reconnaissance. The strikes caused the complete destruction of the camp and all the training facilities.”

In the Aleppo province, Russian combat aircraft hit an ISIL plant, which was producing home-made missiles. The plant also produced platforms to launch ramps and rockets against positions of the Syrian Armed Forces and populated areas.

“Su-25 strike in the province of Aleppo destroyed a plant producing home-made rockets. As a result of a direct strike by an aerial bomb and the detonation of explosives, the facility was completely destroyed.”
Russian bombers have destroyed Islamic State terrorists’ underground reconnaissance facilities in the province of Hama.
“In the Hama province, a Su-34 bomber launched guided aerial bombs on hidden underground reconnaissance facilities with a network of exits into different parts of a populous area,” Konashenkov said.
According to Konashenkov, the Islamic State is fleeing the Damascus region following Russian airstrikes.
“Pinpoint strikes by Russian jets in the province of Damascus have crucially changed the operational situation in this region. ISIL militants are suffering a severe lack of ammunition and are leaving their positions en masse.”
“Last night, reconnaissance means registered retreating of several large detachments, about 100-man-strong each, in direction of Marj al-Sultan,” he added.
Since September 30, Russia has been delivering airstrikes on Islamic State positions in Syria at the request of the country’s President, Bashar al-Assad.
