Bomb blast wounds 17 in southeastern Turkey, at housing complex for judges and prosecutors

February 18, 2017 By administrator

The bombing took place in the garden of a housing complex for judges and prosecutors in the market town of Viranşehir, about 50 kilometers north of the Syrian border, on Friday night.

The official Anadolu Agency quoted Viranşehir Governor Gungor Azim Tuna as saying that the huge explosion killed a three-year-old child of a court clerk and injured at least 17 others. He further said that the car used in the bombing was reportedly parked near the housing complex by an approximately 20-year-old person.

“The terrorist attack was carried out by detonating the bomb-laden car via remote control. The housing complex was severely damaged,” Tuna said, adding that the wounded were not in critical condition and had been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Bomb kills dozens in Azaz on Turkish border

At least 43 people have been killed in a car bomb blast in the rebel-held Syrian town of Azaz, near the Turkish border, BBC reported.
According to the source, the explosion occurred outside a courthouse in the town, some just 7km (four miles) from the Turkish frontier.

Azaz has recently been targeted by so-called Islamic State (IS). The latest blast comes amid a nationwide ceasefire – brokered by Russia and Turkey. It has been mainly observed, despite some violations.
No group has yet said it carried out the bombing, which according to some reports may have killed as many as 60 people and injured many more, according to the source.

The activist group Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said six rebels were among the dead, with the rest believed to be civilians.

Bomb blast rocks central Bangkok, 16 killed

August 17, 2015 By administrator

bnk.thumbA bomb has exploded outside a Hindu shrine in central Bangkok, killing at least 16 people and wounding scores more, police say.

“The death toll is now 16,” police spokesman Prawut Thavornsiri said on Monday, while an emergency medical centre said more than 80 people were injured in the massive blast.

A “significant portion” of the casualties were foreigners, he said.

The explosion took place at the Rajprasong intersection, which was the center of many contentious political demonstrations in recent years. The intersection is located in a central Bangkok district popular among tourists for the Erawan Hindu Shrine. The shrine is located on a main road through Bangkok’s commercial hub and is surrounded by three major shopping malls.

“Our initial findings are it is a bomb inside the shrine,” Thailand’s police chief Chakthip Chijinda told Channel 9 television.

Over 80 people are also said to have been injured in the blast. The death toll is likely to increase with many seriously injured and undergoing emergency procedures.
