Pashinyan Falsely Blames Armenia’s Problems On the Trauma from the Genocide of 1915

April 29, 2024 By administrator

By Harut Sassounian,

With each passing day, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s statements contradicting Armenia’s national interests are getting increasingly alarming

Pashinyan started by denigrating Mt. Ararat, the preeminent Armenian symbol. He then mocked Armenia’s coat of arms, questioning why there is a lion on it, claiming that there are no lions in Armenia. With this statement, Pashinyan made three factual errors:

1) He did not seem to realize that the lion symbolizes courage and strength. It has nothing to do with whether there are lions in Armenia or not;

2) There are over a dozen countries that have a lion on their coat of arms without having a single lion in their countries;

3) He is also incorrect that there are no lions in Armenia. A well-known oligarch has had several lions in his Yerevan mansion for many years.

The Prime Minister then made abusive remarks about Armenia’s national anthem using the excuse that it contains the word “enemy.” There are several other countries that have the word enemy in their national anthems.

Pashinyan went on to complain that what is now called “Army of Armenians” (Hayots Panag) should be “Armenia’s Army” (Hayastani Panag), and that textbooks on the “History of Armenians” (Hayots Badmoutyoun) should be called “Armenia’s History” (Hayastani Badmoutyoun). He also wants to distance today’s Armenia from its past by contrasting “Real Armenia” with “Historical Armenia.” He then suggested, in line with Pres. Aliyev’s demand, that Armenia adopt a new constitution deleting the references to Artsakh and the Armenian Genocide.

Last week, I wrote about one of Pashinyan’s top lieutenants’ incredible suggestion to make a list of all 1.5 million victims of the Armenian Genocide. This is an indirect way of questioning the veracity of the Armenian Genocide.

All of these statements indicate that Pashinyan is retreating from Armenia’s and Armenians’ nationalistic stands to appease Azerbaijan and Turkey.

To make matters worse, on April 24, 2024, the Prime Minister issued a statement full of confusing words which reflect his unstable mental state. He referred to the Armenian Genocide as Meds Yeghern (Great Crime) 11 times and only four times as Genocide. Meds Yeghern is a term that Armenians used until the 1940’s to describe the Genocide before the term genocide was coined by Raphael Lemkin. Since then, the proper and legal term that should be used is Genocide or Tseghasbanoutyoun, in Armenian.

It does not come as a surprise that Pashinyan, in his April 24 statement, once again obfuscated the meaning of the term genocide thus continuing his attempts to downplay Armenian national symbols and terminology.

Pashinyan complained that due to the Meds Yeghern, Armenia often deals with other countries in a state of trauma or shock: “for this reason, sometimes we cannot correctly distinguish the realities and factors, historical processes and predictable horizons. Maybe this is also the reason why we get new shocks, reliving the trauma of the Armenian Genocide as a legacy and as a tradition.”

By making such a statement, Pashinyan is blaming the trauma from the Genocide of 1915 for his incompetent decisions and mismanagement of the State. While it is true that there is such a thing as transgenerational trauma, I would advise the Prime Minister to look at his own inability to rule rather than the trauma from the Genocide.

Pashinyan then surprisingly suggested that Armenians “stop searching for a homeland, because we have found that homeland, our Promised Land, where milk and honey flow.”

It appears that Pashinyan has lost all perceptions of reality! He is describing Armenia with its existential problems as “the Promised Land where milk and honey flow!” More likely, he and his family are the ones living a luxurious life at the Armenian taxpayers’ expense.

The only people who were pleased with Pashinyan’s April 24 message are the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey, Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan. An indication of that pleasure was the crowd of Turks gathered on April 24 in front of the Turkish Embassy in Washington, D.C., chanting: “Pashinyan, Pashinyan, Pashinyan,” in the faces of Armenian protesters.

The President of Turkey, as he has done on every April 24 ever since 2014, issued a statement trying to fool the international community that he is acknowledging the Armenian Genocide. He actually lumped together Armenians and Turks and everyone else “who passed away or were martyred as a consequence of armed conflicts, rebellions, gang violence and terrorist acts” during “World War I.” He thus misrepresented the Armenian victims of genocide as war casualties. He described “the 1915 events” not as genocide, but a “tragedy in which both sides suffered casualties.”

In a direct message to Pashinyan, Erdogan stated that “Türkiye’s ties with Armenia … appear to depend on Yerevan’s stance on the issue [of genocide]… A new order is being established in the region, and it is time to set aside baseless claims. It is time to move forward with realities on the ground. It is better than moving forward with fabrications, tales.” This sounds very similar to what Pashinyan is trying to do. Erdogan made the intent of his message more obvious when he said: “Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan understands this [reality].” As a final dig, Erdogan stated: “I hope Armenia escapes from the darkness it was condemned to, thanks to its diaspora, and chooses the path of new beginnings.”

The true meaning of Erdogan’s words was revealed when the Istanbul Governor’s Office once again banned the commemoration of the Armenian Genocide on April 24. Actions speak louder than words!

“The police say that they did not detain me. What was it, if not to bring him into custody? Deputy Artur Khachatryan

Today, the police took Artur Khachatryan, deputy of the National Assembly “Hazdan” faction, to the Hrazdan police station from the Yerevan-Hrazdan highway. The deputy participated in the protest when the citizens blocked the highway.

In a conversation with “Hetki”, Artur Khachatryan said that he was already released. According to Khachatryan, taking him to the Police Department was not legal, as he is a member of parliament.

“They took him to Hrazdan police department using force. We went up to the third floor, then they escorted us down from the third floor, we went out, and after waiting for about an hour, we met with the head of the department. The police say at the police station that they did not detain me, but how will they explain that by using force, they entered the car against my will and brought me to the police station? What was it, if not to bring it into custody?” Khachatryan asks.

The deputy says that they will give a legal process to what happened in order to understand the grounds for bringing him into custody. Artur Khachatryan was released without any explanation.

According to him, a clash started after he spoke with someone in civilian clothes at the end of the action, who, according to the deputy, was a representative of law enforcement bodies and, according to his information, was the police chief of Kotayk region. After a tense conversation, a stampede started at the initiative of the given person, after which the MP was taken to the Police Department. “I said, ‘How do you propose that the citizens express their complaint?’, he said, ‘don’t ask me that question,’ and I said, ‘bring the person who has the answer to that question,'” says Artur Khachatryan.

Artur Khachatryan is currently at the Hrazdan police station because, according to him, two citizens’ cars were taken into custody on the charge that there is an enforcement proceeding. “Now we are trying to get the copies of those documents, that these cars are under the proceedings of the State Security Agency,” he said.

It should be noted that 17 people were arrested and transferred to different police departments today, April 26, during protests held in different parts of the Republic. The citizens were detained on suspicion of Article 182 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (Failure to comply with a legal request of the Police). “Hetkin” was informed about this by the Department of Public Communication and Information of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

It should be noted that citizens continue to hold protests in various parts of the Republic, in particular, the Armenia-Georgia interstate highway is closed in the Noyemberyan section, the highway remains closed in the Kirantsi section as well. Today, a protest action was also held in a number of Yerevan streets, Yerevan-Echmiadzin, Yerevan-Hrazdan highways.

Let’s remind that on April 19, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement that on the same day, the eighth meeting of the Committee on the Demarcation of the State Border and Border Security between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State Committee on the Demarcation of the State Border between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia was held: Under the chairmanship of RA Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafaev.

According to that report, at the initial stage of the demarcation process, the parties have preliminarily agreed on separate sections of the border, directly Baghanis (RA) – Baghanis Ayrum (AR), Voskepar (AR) – Ashagh Askipara (AR), Kirants (AR) – Kheirumli (AR) and Berkaber. (RA) – between the settlements of Kyzyl Hajil (AR) in order to conform to the legally justified inter-republic border that existed at the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union.

After this announcement, protests started in Tavush marz and then in different parts of the Republic. Citizens’ concern is that after these areas come under the control of Azerbaijan, the border will pass near the village of Kirants and the main road.

“SQUARE”. WE FELL INTO THE HANDS OF TRAITORS AND REALIZED THAT WE HAVE ONE MOTHER – THE CHURCH

April 25, 2024 By administrator

The interlocutor of “Hraparak” is Tovmas Arakelyan, youth bearer of Tavush Diocese, blogger.

  • As much as the authorities are trying to discredit the Armenian Apostolic Church, it is obvious that the church’s role in society has increased even more today. It has become active, it has come to the fore, the clergy is speaking, they are next to the people. People place their hopes on the church and church members. What causes this?
  • According to me, the role of the church has not increased, but people’s attention has come to the church. There is a common thing among our people: when they get sick, they turn to doctors, then to fortune-tellers, then to charlatans, they spend money calling for help from all kinds of false and correct anti-scientific circles, and finally they come to the church. Today we are on the same path, just nationwide. This is a nationwide issue. We have fallen into the hands of various charlatans and traitors and like a prodigal son we have understood that our country has one mother and that is the church. The motherland has one mother, the mother church, and there is no need to look for salvation elsewhere. Only in this way can we return the truth, getting rid of lies and falsehood. The Church is not doing anything artificial today, it is doing what it has done for millennia.
  • Doesn’t official propaganda hinder and constrain the church and its members?
  • It doesn’t bother us because we have great immunity. The church is able to stand firm in the face of it all. The church characterizes its class as a congregation, we are a congregation, if you notice, all the ministers of the church – Saint Mikael, Saint Bagrat, Saint Arshak, they are all very united, they are in the same ideological lines. Today, when clergymen are targeted, they know that they are not being targeted, but the idea, but we are not alone in our ideology, because our ideology is the ideology of the Armenian Apostolic Church. No one can target Christ and Christ’s church. Who are they now against, the church of Christ?
  • And how would you characterize today’s activity of the church? At least during the newly independent history, the apostolic church did not fight against handing over to the country. There was no occasion. And today… some say that churchmen have become involved in politics. What description would you give?
  • It is our millennial work – to preach the truth, to keep the truth alive against lies. All this is not new for us. We have a patristic, biblical heritage, and the church’s struggle has always been against lies. Now, what face, image and name the lie is standing in front of us is not important anymore. The satellite of lies is the devil. The same devil that the church has always fought against. The difference is that today there is the Internet, the latest technologies, but what Elder Ghevond did, His Holiness Bagrat does, what Father Khrimyan did, His Holiness does today, I don’t see any difference. The church also shows that one can be independent. What attacks there were by the Russian Empire, the USSR, the Persian and Muslim caliphates, but the Armenian Apostolic Church remained independent with its own agenda, having normal relations with the Orthodox and Catholic Churches, not going to extremes.
  • What do you think, will the public trust the church to the end, will the church be able to unite the public? Will there be a result?
  • People are always unpredictable, you have to fight and not give up. The Tavush world, as declared by His Holiness Bagrat, is a world of hope. It is necessary to live and fight in the world of hope. We are children of hope. If we have the patience of hope – many have hope but not patience – everything will be fine.

ARMENIAN GENOCIDE DENIER NIKOL PASHINIAN, ANDRANIK KOCHARYAN

April 25, 2024 By administrator

On April 24, the 109th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, people’s thoughts and prayers always go to the martyrs of the genocide, to the year 1915, to the unquenchable fire of Tsitsernakaberd, to those fateful and difficult times that give reason to think about our current reality and forces to draw parallels with the past, to understand what situation we are in now. And it was impossible not to remember the statement made by Andranik Kocharyan, one of the representatives of the ruling political majority of Armenia, about turning the martyrs of the Armenian Genocide into “listing material”, which was presented as one of the goals of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to be implemented in the near future.

We would like to tell two parables in this regard, addressing Nikol Pashinyan, Andranik Kocharyan and all those whose brains have the ability to “extract” such “genius” thoughts. So the first parable. There is a woman in a village. He agrees with the neighbors to lend and borrow milk, so that he can see the preparation of oil and cheese for the winter. However, this woman’s cow is not a good milker, and every time she lends the milk to neighbors, she mixes water with the milk. It happens that one day the wife dies. When he stands in front of the judgment, at the gates of the kingdom, he rejoices that he was considered righteous by God, and wherever he is, God will make him worthy of the kingdom of heaven. Archangel Gabriel appears. The woman rejoices and says that she is happy that God will grant her the kingdom. The Archangel smiles mysteriously and answers that yes, he will enter the kingdom, but there is one condition. He takes a bowl, pours a bucket of milk and a bucket of water into it, mixes it and says: “God’s verdict is this: as soon as you can separate milk and water, you will enter the kingdom.”

Here is the second parable, which is a real historical incident. It is said that when Churchill was discussing the issue of the anti-Hitler coalition with Stalin, he said that the Pope was also joining that coalition. Stalin responds with a smile, how many divisions does the Pope have? Churchill does not answer. Then the Pope of that time learns about this story and does not react in any way. Years pass. When Stalin dies in 1953, and it is reported to Rome, he says: “Hey, now he will know how many divisions of troops we, as the Church of Christ, have in the other world.”

Why did we present these parables? We are all mortal, and maybe the author of my verses will say goodbye to this world and stand before God sooner than Nikol Pashinyan or Andranik Kocharyan, but the important thing is what “baggage” we will stand before God with at that moment. At that time, nothing will help us anymore, and, God forbid, if at the end of the deeds we have done, God will judge us in such a way that we will end up in the status of a woman who mixed water with milk or Stalin who doubts the power of the Church of Christ.

US State Department report: Human rights organizations report an increase in police abuse in Armenia

In 2023, the local NGO community noted an increased number of reports of police abuse, including in police stations, which, unlike prisons and police detention facilities, were not subject to public monitoring. This is stated in the 2023 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices: Armenia annual report of the US Department of State.

“On July 3, more than 30 NGOs issued a statement noting “unprecedented violence and instances of torture in police departments and other law enforcement agencies” in recent months, characterizing the violence as becoming systemic and revealing what they viewed as ineffective police and judicial reforms. The organizations noted that violence against attorneys was unprecedented and that additional cases indicated a growing trend of police impunity. They stated the government’s failure to promptly investigate reports and bring perpetrators to justice resulted in impunity and decreased public trust in the law enforcement system. According to the July 25 report by the Helsinki Citizens Assembly Vanadzor on monitoring of police reform, there were 199 reports of human rights violation by police during 2022, a 20 percent increase compared with 2021 and 54 percent increase compared with 2019,” the aforesaid report noted.

“Criminal justice bodies continued to rely on confessions and information obtained during questioning to secure convictions. According to human rights lawyers, procedural safeguards against mistreatment during police questioning, such as inadmissibility of evidence obtained through force or procedural violations, were insufficient, as was a video surveillance system that was installed in only a few police stations and had not yet been used in police mistreatment cases. According to human rights lawyers, while many cases occurred in Yerevan, the situation in regional police stations was worse,” added the US State Department report.

Russia Seizes Over 650,000 Acres Of Farmland And Other Assets From Company With Ties To ‘Unfriendly’ Country

April 11, 2024 By administrator

Kevin Vandenboss,

In a significant escalation of its retaliatory measures against “unfriendly” states amid heightened geopolitical tensions, Russia has seized assets of the agricultural holdings company AgroTerra Group. The move, announced on April 8, 2024, has sent shockwaves through the agricultural sector and raised concerns over food security and international trade relations.

President Vladimir Putin’s decree places Dutch-registered firms AgroTerra Investments B.V. and AgroTerra Holdings B.V. under the “temporary management” of Rosimushchestvo, Russia’s federal property management agency. This action follows a series of similar asset seizures targeting Western companies, including multinational brewer Carlsberg and dairy giant Danone, which have sought to divest their Russian operations in response to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

AgroTerra, founded in 2008, is a major player in the agricultural industry, specializing in the production and supply of commodities such as soybeans, wheat and sugar beet. The company is recognized as one of the top 20 largest owners of agricultural land in Russia, with a cultivated area of approximately 265,000 hectares (654,829 acres).

The decree’s impact on AgroTerra’s operations remains uncertain. A spokesperson for the company stated, “As of now, the Company has not yet received any further details regarding the decree on the transfer of shares within the authorized capital of the AgroTerra Group to the temporary management of Rosimushchestvo.” Despite the lack of clarity, the company has assured that it is continuing its operations as usual, with a primary focus on the ongoing sowing campaign.

This seizure is part of a broader trend of Russia targeting foreign-owned assets in retaliation for sanctions and other measures taken against Russian companies abroad. In April 2023, Putin signed an executive order allowing Russia to take over real estate, securities, property rights and other assets from foreign companies with ties to “unfriendly countries.”

The implications of these actions extend beyond the affected companies and their shareholders. They pose a threat to the global agricultural supply chain, potentially disrupting food production and exports. Furthermore, the move could exacerbate tensions between Russia and Western countries, further complicating efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine and stabilize international relations.

IN THE AMERICAN CITY, 1 POLICE OFFICER PER 500 INHABITANTS; IN ARMENIA – 1 POLICE FOR 60 INHABITANTS

April 11, 2024 By administrator

Garegin Vardanyan

Whether some people like it or not, we have to admit that in the last three decades, Armenians have created the most monstrous police force in the world. During this so-called “independent” period, a part of the people in the country, with a population of about 3.5 million, emigrated, and the rest were condemned to a hellish life. The economy built during the Soviet regime, left as a legacy from those years, was almost wholly destroyed; factories and enterprises were looted, machine tools and equipment were destroyed, and everything was wasted, and today, the warring country is left almost defenseless against the age-old enemy. The condition of the army is the most deplorable. Many of the participants of the war, especially the more famous officers, are arrested and imprisoned, and their services are treated with contempt and ridicule. But the condition of ordinary soldiers is much more difficult. In the front line, the trenches are in the spirit of the 80s of the last century, the dugouts are mostly underground and dilapidated or literally in the open air. And here, the country’s police is flourishing day by day.

In terms of political science, the country has become an open, deep, heavy police state. The real owner of the country is the self-satisfied policeman who loyally serves the authorities. My senior friend from Yerevan tells. “It was in 1992-93. the soviet had just collapsed, it was half-starved: there was no gas or electricity, there were no traffic lights and no policemen on the streets. Those who bought a few liters of gasoline drove a car, gave way to each other at the intersections, and we lived in harmony and peace like that. When the authorities got comfortable in their seats, Vano, the police chief at that time, said to the policemen: why are you sitting idly in your seats, go out into the street, turn on the traffic lights, fine the drivers, judge, intimidate, if you have to go to jail, but bring money. It started from that day, and as it went on, the Armenian policeman became more and more “insolent”, “disgusted”, became fat, became an unpunished beast and began to persecute Armenians, citizens, ravage and empty the country.

The fact that during rallies and marches they chant “the police is ours” is a lie and fabrication. The Armenian policeman has always belonged to the authorities of the day. They have always served the country’s presidents and rulers. The police were and are the main support of the former presidents and the current main Armenian patriot. The nail in the current system is the policeman.

My friend Ara Harutyunyan, an American-based scientist and political scientist, tells. “The city where I live officially has a population of 240 thousand and 477 policemen. One policeman for every 500 inhabitants, and that’s in the case of people living in the city being heavily armed. In 25 years, I have not come across a single fight, argument or trouble, even though there are a lot of murders. Today’s Armenia has about 30,000 policemen for 2 million. In other words, one policeman for 60 people, 8 times more armed than the American one. The area of our city is about 1.5 times larger than Yerevan (well, the houses are one-story). During peak hours, there is a flow of 3 rows of cars on each side of the streets (probably they are working in the city from the neighboring regions), in that sense it is not much different from Washington… With the money generated from the taxes of actual Armenian citizens, Nikol supports your friend or neighbor’s militia 8 times more than the norm and the average. 5 times more pay.” And here, the neighboring Georgia stood up by disarming its own police officer. With the first steps, Saakashvili did just that: he deprived the policeman of his leverage. But yes, “ours is different”.

AZERBAIJAN PRESS QUOTES NIKOL PASHINIAN VERBALLY

April 11, 2024 By administrator

Nikol Pashinyan and members of the ruling “Civil Contract” party in general often become the heroes of the Azerbaijani media thanks to the “jewels” of their thoughts. Before 2018, the Armenian people often compared Baku’s dictator Ilham with a sheep, a gorilla that escaped from the forest, ridiculed and made jokes. Now the situation has changed: Azerbaijani mass media are writing mocking materials about Pashinyan, inventing songs: “Noldu Pashinyan”. And they watch with a magnifying glass what Nikol Pashinyan says, how poor he has become and became their “ambassador”, how he convinces his people to give Azerbaijan what it wants, not to attack us, etc.

They pay particular attention to the statements made by Nikol Pashinyan from the country’s number one podium and during government meetings. Even language slips and errors become the topic of Azerbaijani press publications. For example, when Pashinyan announced in the National Assembly on April 10, “What is Azeri should be under the control of Azerbaijan, what is Armenian should be under the control of Azerbaijan”, obviously missing it, then he asked, surprised by the reaction of the hall. “What did I say?” even this statement appeared in the Azerbaijani press.

Haqqin.az was so impressed by the leap of thought of Nikol Pashinyan that Azeri websites spread the video and made fun of the RA Prime Minister.

Almost all the statements of the leader of Armenia find a place in the Azerbaijani press as exceptional truth. Referring to Nikol Pashinyan’s statement, Haqqin.az writes:

“Armenia is not against starting the demarcation process from the four villages of the Tavush region, which were captured by Armenia during the first Karabakh war. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this in the parliament,” writes the Azerbaijani website, complaining that Armenia is left alone and Russia is left out of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.

“CSTO observers will be present in Armenia as peacekeepers, not as allies,” Pashinyan said.

Armenian Church Leader Condemn Pashinyan’s “Defeatist” Policy Towards Azerbaijan

April 9, 2024 By administrator

Bishops and diocesan primates of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Armenia have accused the Pashinyan government of pursuing a “defeatist” foreign policy vis-à-vis Azerbaijan.

The church leaders, in a statement today, point to the Armenian government’s readiness to return several villages in the country’s Tavush Province to Azerbaijan.

They say Pashinyan’s government is giving in to threats made by Baku regarding these villages.

The Armenian prime minister, last month, said Armenia risks a new war with Azerbaijan if it doesn’t return the four villages it’s held since the early 1990s.

“With this defeatist approach, with successive painful territorial concessions, in fact, Azerbaijan’s false claims and reprehensible ambitions regarding the territories of Armenia are legitimized by the international community,” the clerics write.

They describe the Pashinyan government’s policy of creating an “era of peace” based on unilateral concessions as a pipe dream rife with danger.
