Three servicemen of the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) Defense Army have been injured in intensive Azerbaijani ceasefire violations reported since Friday morning.

The heavy shellings saw the adversary shoot fire from firearms and heavy launchers (122-mm howitzer D-30 аnd 85 mm divisional gun D-44 ), and mortars and grenade launchers of different calibers.
The affected servicemen have been identified as Robert N Gasparyan (48), Hambardzum J Harutyunyan (20) and Vahe G Badalyan (19). All the three have received fragmentary injuries.

Armenian Servicemen awarded for thwarting Azerbaijani February 26 infiltration attempt

March 16, 2017 By administrator

Defense Minister of the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh Republic) Colonel General Levon Mnatsakanyan toured number of military units in the southeastern direction of the Artsakh Defense Army and handed presidential awards to servicemen who had neutralized the Azerbaijani infiltration attempt on February 25.

Commending the awardees for the excellent service and congratulating on the honor received from the Commander-in-Chief, the Army commander called for keeping vigilance high and staying ready to prevent the adversary’s provocations.

To remind, on the night of 25 February, at around 03:00 and 04:00, the Azerbaijani forces made attack attempts at the southeastern (Martuni) and eastern (Akna) directions of the Line of Contact between the Nagorno Karabakh Republic (NKR) and Azerbaijan by using respective demining equipment and special measures.

As the NKR Defense Ministry reports in a released statement, the NKR frontline units timely detected the advancement of the Azerbaijani forces in both directions due to video devices and repelled them to their positions causing losses. Due to the countermeasures taken by the Armenian forces, the adversary suffered casualties and has wounded. Several bodies were left in the neutral zone.

‘We’re Here to the End’: Russian Servicemen in Syria Speak to French TV

October 23, 2015 By administrator

1028982274The off-duty life of Russian servicemen in Syria seems to be of such interest to journalists that they are resorting to all kinds of tricks in order to get a story; one French TV crew, for example, left their camera running while casually chatting to Russian officers outside their air base in Latakia, and here is what they learnt.

Russian speaking journalists working for France 24 ran into Russian servicemen in the port of Latakia. The TV crew claimed the servicemen were “military instructors sent by Moscow to train Syrians.”
Even though the officers asked them to switch off their camera and take no pictures, the crew left the camera running.
When asked how long they think they will stay in Syria, the servicemen replied:
“We’ll take a pass on that one. We can just tell you that we’ve been here since the beginning and will be here until the end. In fact, we don’t know ourselves when we’ll be leaving…But at least it will be over soon…” (the crew translated it as “but we hope it will be over soon” and then added sub-titles on their own initiative: “since the air force is doing a good job.”)
When apparently asked to comment on the Syrian army, the officers said:
“You know, they [presumably the Syrians] have got everything: tanks and equipment…it is just such a mindset, the mentality is kind of like, more or less, Chechnya – [everything] is being bought and sold.”
The crew translated it as “it is a bit like the war in Chechnya…the guys sell everything on to the enemy.”
“Take Ossetia for example (the crew translated it as “You remember the war in Ossetia?”) It is the same generals who were in control there, the same 58th army, they…have been sent here, and they are in control of armed operations here.”
The servicemen however noted that the Syrians are really grateful for Russia’s intervention.
“I’m really happy that Russians are helping us! They are the only ones who are truly honest with us. When they say they will do something, they do it,” one of the Syrians in a military uniform told the crew.
As proof, the TV crew took a shot of a city market which is now selling underwear emblazoned with the Russian two-headed eagle emblem.

YEREVAN. – A Turk was among the servicemen of Azerbaijani special subdivision that was neutralized by the military units of Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army, a source told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

According to a source, one of the killed was an instructor from Turkey.

As reported earlier, the adversary violated the ceasefire on the Line of Contact between the Karabakh-Azerbaijani opposing forces more than 80 times, between late Thursday night and early Friday morning.

During this time, around 4,500 shots were fired in the direction of Armenian military positions, and by way of mine throwers and other weaponry.

In addition, the adversary made use of the ZIK -23-2 weapon in the northerly (Shahumyan Region) direction. The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Defense Army vanguard forces took appropriate action to neutralize this weapon. As a result, at least three Azerbaijani soldiers and the aforementioned weapon were rendered ineffective.
