Armenia Police clarifies Nikol Pashinyan incident in Rome

January 30, 2018 By administrator

The Italian Police raided Armenian lawmaker Nikol Pashinyan’s hotel room in Rome.

Pashmina said they had come to arrest him on the basis of an arrest warrant issued by the Armenian authorities back in 2008.

The Armenian Police said in a statement that the Interpol National Central Bureau in Armenia (NCB) had asked Interpol’s General Secretariat to lift the arrest warrant after Pashinyan surrendered himself to law-enforcement bodies in 2009. The Secretariat had, in turn, notified all member states.

Pope was at first told in Rome the term genocide was offensive

June 27, 2016 By administrator

Pope turkey 400Pope Francis on Sunday, June 26 said that he knew no word to describe the annihilation of Armenians other than “genocide” until he was elected as the head of the Roman Catholic Church.

On his way back from a three-day-visit to Armenia, the pope was asked about his U-turn decision to pronounce the term genocide during a reception with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, RIA reports.

“When referring to the destruction of the Armenian people, we used the term genocide in Argentina and installed a khachkar at the Buenos Aires Cathedral to commemorate the Armenian Genocide,” Francis said.

“Arriving in Rome, I heard the expression “the great evil” and was told that the term genocide was offensive. But I have always cited the three major genocides of the 20th century: The Armenian Genocide, that of Hitler and Stalin’s genocide.”

“When I was preparing for the holy mass last year (on April 12 when Francis commemorated the centennial of the Armenian Genocide – PAN), I found out that Saint John Paul II had earlier used that word and decided to cite him,” the pontiff said.

“It was not greeted well, with Turkey denouncing my decision and recalling its ambassador to the Vatican who, however, returned several months later.”

“I hadn’t initially included that word in my speech during a visit to the country, by after hearing the tone of the Armenian President’s speech, it would sound very strange if I did not repeat what I said a year ago,” he added.

Francis spent three days in Armenia from June 24 to June 26.

Rome’s Police spokesman: Saudi embassy helped Erdoğan’s son to escape the police custody; using a forged Saudi passport and disguised as an Arab diplomat

According to Rai News 24, Italian police spokesman Lt. Colonel Domenico Grimaldi accused the Saudi legation in Rome of facilitating the escape of Bilal Erdoğan who was detained for money laundering allegations. Bilal Erdoğan’s short detention in Rome and later escape are the latest in a series of scandals hitting President Erdoğan’s family.

“Mafia activities continue to plague our judicial system and the Polizia di Stato is blamed for this humiliating security lapse in Rome airport. We also found that a notorious mafia gang active in Calabria and Sicily was hired by members in the Saudi embassy and they managed to release Mr.  Erdoğan from Regina Coeli Prison,” police spokesman Lt. Colonel Grimaldi told AFP.

They moved Bilal Erdoğan to Excelsior Hotel, added Lt. Colonel Grimaldi, and Erdoğan was caught on cameras leaving the Hotel, donned traditional Arab dress and adroitly disguised as a Saudi diplomat; Bilal passed the security check holding a fake Saudi diplomatic passport and we believe, he couldn’t have escaped without the connivance of a number of police officers in Leonardo da Vinci Airport.

Saudi and Turkish regimes try to expand their intelligence cooperation and harmonize efforts to overthrow the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
