Armenia has the 15th Rio Paralympic Games with 2 sports

armenian-paralympicArmenia participates with 2 athletes at the 15th Paralympics which the opening ceremony was held Wednesday, September 7 at the Olympic stadium in Rio (Brazil). The delegations-including the Armenia-marched on stage in Rio applause from the audience.

Until September 18, 4342 Sports 161 nations will take part in these competitions in 22 sports.

Both sportsmen representing Armenia are swimmer Margarita Hovakimyan (21) and weightlifter Greta Vardanyan (30 years). They had also taken part in the Paralympic Games in London (2012). Greta Vardanyan will enter the women’s weightlifting 55kg competition Saturday, September 10. Margarita Hovakimyan will take part in turn to swim 50m freestyle contest September 10 and 100m breaststroke September 11.

The coach of the women’s Olympic team of water polo victorious United States to Rio Olympics is an American of Armenian descent, Adam Krikorian (42). In his final team won over Italy on the 12-5 score. Russia is ranked 3rd. Unfortunately a drama touched Adam Krikorian. Two days before the final of the Olympics brother, Blake Krikorian was killed in a car accident. The American swimmers have dedicated their gold medal to their coach Adam Krikorian appreciated by the team for its professional and human qualities.

OJ Rio today the last 4 Armenian athletes compete in freestyle

4-armenian-athletesYesterday Armenia had no representative in the competitions of the 13th day of the 31st Rio Olympics. Today August 19 at the 14th day, the last 4 athletes from Armenia to the Olympics in Rio will compete in freestyle wrestling competitions. We closely monitor David Safaryan could win a medal, like the other three Armenian wrestlers.

The last 4 Armenian sportsmen in the wrestling competitions are Karnig Mnatsakanyan (57 kg), David Safaryan (65 kg), Georgi Ketoev (97 kg) and Levan Berianidze (125 kg).

With 4 -1 gold medals and 3 silver-Armenia was ranked 36th last in the table of Rio Olympics medals. Performance already quite exceptional, with Armenia that was before Georgia, Azerbaijan -and its billions of dollars invested in the purchase of foreign athletes wearing the colors azéries- and Turkey also purchased abroad sport in hopes of medals …

4 Armenian athletes to perform during the first day of Rio Olympics 2016

Armenian-olympicArmenian athletes begin their competition in the 31st Olympic Games today, August 6.
ANOC press service informs that on the first competition day, boxer Artur Hovhannisyan (49kg), judoka Hovhannes Davtyan and gymnasts Harutyun Merdinyan and Artur Davtyan are staring the struggle.
Hovhannes Davtyan was to compete at 11:00 local time, Artur Hovhannisyan – at 11:30 and the gymnasts – at 14:30.
To remind, 33 athletes in 8 sports will represent Armenia at the Olympics:
