November 5, 2016 By administrator

armenian-women-and-manArmenian President Serzh Sargsyan today addressed a conference entitled “Armenia-25; The World and Women” organized by the Women’s Council of the Republican Party of Armenia.

Sargsyan, who also serves as president of the party, told conference participants that the ruling Republic Party was “a conservative party that wants to preserve and strengthen our traditional family that has always been the invincible guarantor of the Armenian people’s historic existence.”

Sargsyan continued that the woman in Armenian history has always occupied her firm and steadfast place.

“Motherhood, the place and role of the mother in the Armenian family, has always been regarded as a source of life and the holiest of holies,” Sargsyan said.

The Armenian president said that the role and contribution of women is equally important in society.

“We are proud of the achievements of Armenia’s women in all sectors of life, from culture to education and the army, from business to the health field,” Sargsyan said.

The Armenian president, summarizing his party’s firm principle regarding women in society, noted: “Our society is comprised of established women and men. A woman, a successful woman, must always be represented alongside a successful man. We encourage this. It’s our principled position.”

This penguin swims 5,000 miles every year for reunion with the man who saved his life

October 21, 2016 By administrator

penguin-and-manJoao cleaned the oil off the penguin’s feathers and fed him a daily diet of fish to build his strength. He named him Dindim.

After a week, he tried to release the penguin back into the sea. But, the bird wouldn’t leave. ‘He stayed with me for 11 months and then, just after he changed his coat with new feathers, he disappeared,’ Joao recalls.

And, just a few months later, Dindim was back. He spotted the fisherman on the beach one day and followed him home.

For the past five years, Dindim has spent eight months of the year with Joao and is believed to spend the rest of the time breeding off the coast of Argentina and Chile.

It’s thought he swims up to 5,000 miles each year to be reunited with the man who saved his life.

‘I love the penguin like it’s my own child and I believe the penguin loves me,’ Joao told Globo TV. ‘No one else is allowed to touch him. He pecks them if they do. He lays on my lap, lets me give him showers, allows me to feed him sardines and to pick him up.

‘Everyone said he wouldn’t return but he has been coming back to visit me for the past four years. He arrives in June and leaves to go home in February and every year he becomes more affectionate as he appears even happier to see me.’

Biologist Professor Krajewski, who interviewed the fisherman for Globo TV, told The Independent: ‘I have never seen anything like this before. I think the penguin believes Joao is part of his family and probably a penguin as well.

‘When he sees him he wags his tail like a dog and honks with delight.

And, just like that, the world seems a kinder place again.

    David Millward, US Correspondent
20-year-old Turkish man is expected to appear in court on Monday on charges of killing five people at a Macy’s department store in Washington state, as the FBI said they were not ruling out an act of terrorism.

Arcan Cetin from Oak Harbor, Washington, offered no resistance when he was arrested on Saturday night, saying nothing and appearing to be in a “zombie-like” state, police said.

On Friday night he had entered a branch of Macy’s at the Cascade Mall in Burlington, just over 65 miles north of Seattle, and opened fire at the make-up counter. He killed four women, aged 16 to 95, instantly. A fifth victim, a man who was airlifted away from the scene, died later.

Cetin had a violent past, had been arrested for drunk driving and was recommended by a judge not to be allowed to own a firearm.

Skagit County court records show three domestic-violence assault charges against Cetin, with the victim identified as his stepfather.

Cetin was told by an Island County district court judge on December 29 that he was not to possess a firearm, but the stepfather urged the judge not to impose a no-contact order, which would require him to surrender his gun – saying his stepson was “going through a hard time”.

Cetin’s social media postings gave little hint of extremist tendencies, with his Twitter feed musing over Miley Cyrus, Turkish food, and the computer game Halo.

He also posted childhood photos with his family, and photos from a February 2015 paintballing day.

The previous month he had tweeted: “We win I vote for Hillary Clinton” – his only political reference.

But in April 2015, he had showed a flash of anger, tweeting: “Crazy how when you crack open someone’s shell they’re everything you spent your time running from.”

Marty Baldwin told The Seattle Times he allowed the suspected gunman, who was homeless at the time, to move in with him and his wife.

But Mr Baldwin kicked him out a few months later after learning the younger man was using and selling drugs, he said.

Mr Baldwin said he called 911 on Friday night, after recognising the man he knew as “Frankie” on TV.

Police on Saturday were unable to confirm reports he had yelled a woman’s name before opening fire.

It was unclear whether he knew his victims – Sarai Lara, 16, a cancer survivor and high school sophomore; Belinda Galde, 64, and her mother, 95-year-old Beatrice Dotson, and Shyla Martin, a 52-year-old Macy’s makeup counter employee.

Chuck Eagan, a Boeing maintenance worker, was also killed – shot while helping his wife flee the store.

Following the shooting Cetin was seen walking to a nearby interstate.

The FBI said that while they had no indication the attack was a “terrorism act,” it could not be ruled out.

Lt Mike Hawley, Island County sheriff, said he spotted Cetin from a patrol car on Saturday evening in Oak Harbor and immediately recognised him as the suspect. Lt Hawley said at a news conference they had received information that Cetin was in the area.

“I literally hit my brakes, did a quick turn, I jumped out,” he said. “We both jumped out with our guns, and he just froze.”

Cetin was unarmed and was carrying a satchel with a computer in it.

“He was kind of zombie-like,” said Lt Hawley.

Istanbul the Crime capital of the world: Gay Syrian man mutilated, beheaded

August 4, 2016 By administrator

gay-man-murderedANKARA – Agence France-Presse,

The body of a gay Syrian refugee was found mutilated and beheaded two days after he disappeared in central Istanbul, a local rights group has said.
Muhammed Wisam Sankari went missing on July 23 after leaving his home in the Fatih district, Turkish gay rights group Kaos Gay and Lesbian Cultural Research and Solidarity Association (Kaos GL) reported on Aug. 3.
On July 25 his body was found mutilated and decapitated, the association said.

He arrived in Istanbul a year ago after fleeing Syria’s civil war but wanted to leave Turkey because he feared for his life.

He was threatened by male gangs carrying knives who said they wanted to rape him, friends told Kaos GL.
His body was so mutilated, he was only recognizable from his clothes, one of his friends who went to identify the body, said the rights organization.

“They cut Wisam violently. It was so violent, two knives had broken inside of him. They beheaded him. His upper body was beyond recognition, his internal organs were out. We recognized our friend from his trousers.”

The Syrian had also been kidnapped and raped five months before his death, one of his housemates told the rights organization.

“They took him by car to a forest where they beat and raped him,” the refugee’s housemate, Rayan, said.
He added that they previously had to leave a house because they were gay, Kaos GL said.

Russia’s Putin most powerful man in the world: Forbes

November 4, 2015 By administrator

9465eaff-eccb-4eed-bcef-d6d3e41e806fRussian President Vladimir Putin has been chosen as the world’s most powerful person for the third time in a row by Forbes magazine.

Putin bested US President Barack Obama, who came in third place after German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the most powerful woman in the world, said the American magazine’s seventh annual list of the world’s most powerful people published on Wednesday.

“Putin continues to prove he’s one of the few men in the world powerful enough to do what he wants,” the magazine said.

According to the article, Putin’s domestic approval rating rose to 89 percent, the highest level over the last six years.

Obama became the first incumbent US president not listed in the top two rankings. “As Obama enters the final year of his presidency, it’s clear his influence is shrinking, and it’s a bigger struggle than ever to get things done,” Forbes said.

Out of the 73 people on the 2015 list, Pope Francis was fourth and Chinese President Xi Jinping came in fifth, a two-stage drop from last year.

To compile the list, Forbes took into consideration the candidates’ financial resources, their power in multiple spheres over a large number of people, and if they actively used their power.

British man attacks bus passenger for ‘speaking Turkish’ in London “you’re here for free benefits”

October 20, 2015 By administrator

n_90116_1A British man has been captured on video while verbally attacking a turkish speaking mant in London and throwing his zimmer frame off a bus for “speaking Turkish,” the Daily Mail has reported.

The video shows a man, traveling with a baby, launching a racist verbal attack against a Turkish passenger for talking in Turkish while living in the United Kingdom for “free benefits.”

“You’re talking in a different language but nobody knows what you’re saying,” the assailant can be heard saying.

“Go back to Turkey if you talk that sh*t. Oh no you can’t because sh*t gets blown up in Turkey,” he adds, perhaps referring to the double suicide bombings in Ankara on Oct. 10 that killed at least 102 people.

The attacker threatens the passenger before actually throwing his zimmer frame off the bus while getting off.

“‘That’s why you’re here mate – free benefits and a walker. Well your walker is going to go flying when this bus stops mate,” the clip shows the man saying.

The man then grabs the passenger’s zimmer frame while getting off the bus and throws it away while the rest of the passengers remain seated in silence.

The attacker also appeals to the rest of the passengers by urging them all to “vote UKIP,” referring to the U.K. Independence Party, an anti-EU party that wants strict quotas on immigration.

Turkish Authorities Drag Body of Kurdish Man, HDP Files Complaint

October 8, 2015 By administrator

Turkish Police Atrocity against young Kurd

Turkish Police Atrocity against young Kurd

Images and videos surfaced this past weekend that appeared to show an armored police vehicle dragging the body of a Kurdish man tied by the neck to the back of the vehicle.  Much of the state controlled media in the country quickly questioned the authenticity of the footage, but later said it was likely done as safety precaution. The pro-AKP Aksam daily claimed that dragging bodies was a “routine practice” that is performed across the world as a security precaution, for dead bodies suspected of being booby-trapped.

It was later discovered that the body was of Hacı Lokman Birlik, the brother-in-law of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Member of Parliemant Leyla Birlik. Turkey’s Today’s Zaman newspaper said that Birlik was buried after a funeral on Saturday in the Dicle neighborhood in Sirnak, and that local HDP authorities including Leyla Birlik attended the funeral.

While the circumstances of Birlik’s death are still unclear, the HDP held that Birlik was “executed by police,” as security forces attempted to fill in trenches dug by Sirnak residents who wished to keep police out.

During an interview with HaberTurk TV, Turkey’s Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu reportedly said, “Our interior ministry … will conduct a comprehensive investigation, not into the incident itself, but into the way in which this incident was reflected to the world.”

“It is unacceptable to treat any corpse this way, even if it is a dead terrorist,” Davutoglu was quoted as saying by Reuters.

HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtas tweeted a photo of the incident with a caption vowing not to forget the atrocity that had taken place. “Take a good look at this photo. It was taken in Şırnak the day before yesterday. Nobody should forget this photo, because we will not,” read the caption in Turkish.

On Oct. 7, the HDP said in a written statement that the party’s lawyer had filed a complaint about the incident. The party also began the process of tabling a parliamentary motion condemning the act.

Turkey: Azerbaijani man arrested for kidnapping two Ukrainians in Istanbul

September 22, 2015 By administrator

n_88839_1ISTANBUL – Doğan News Agency

An Azerbaijani man has been arrested after he kidnapped and held for ransom two Ukrainians vacationing in Istanbul.

The perpetrator, identified as Enver S., 46, was arrested in Istanbul on Sept. 21 after relatives of the two Ukrainians, identified as Roman O., 23, and W.B., 45, informed the Consulate General of Ukraine in Istanbul, which later notified the Istanbul Police Department that the two Ukrainians had been kidnapped for a $150,000 ransom.

After launching an investigation into the kidnapping, police officers plotted a set up and asked the Ukrainians’ relatives to meet the perpetrator in the hotel’s lobby to hand over the ransom.

Enver S. was arrested outside the hotel where the relatives of the kidnapped tourists were staying as he attempted to get into their car, which had been offered as a down payment for the ransom.

The police officers then asked the Azerbaijani perpetrator to tell them where he was hiding the two Ukrainians.

Roman O. and W.B. were freed after the police officers raided the locked room where they had been held.

The police officers also seized an automatic-action rifle, a large amount of ammunition, several fake passports and 9,600 Turkish Liras found in the room.

Enver S. was sent to prison after official procedures were completed in the police station.

Kurdistan: Shivan Azad, a Kurdish man who criticized Iraqi Kurdistan govt released on bail

August 24, 2015 By administrator

“People have no money to drink milk, no electricity, no water. People have become annoyed, it’s enough!” Azad said in the video that has gone viral since it was posted on August 3.

ERBIL-Hewler, Kurdistan region ‘Iraq’,— A local man arrested by Erbil police after he criticized Iraq’s Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in a video posted to social media was released on bail Sunday, four days after being taken into custody.

Shivan Azad recorded and posted a cell phone video in which he blamed authorities for water and electricity shortages as well as delayed salaries for government employees.

“People have no money to drink milk, no electricity, no water. People have become annoyed, it’s enough!” Azad said in the video that has gone viral since it was posted on August 3. Report Ekurd

At the time of publishing, the video had over 10,000 views on Facebook.

“I talk on behalf of all people of Kurdistan. I am not afraid of being killed, arrested or executed,” he said.

NRT correspondent in Erbil, Omed Chomani said Azad was released on a three million dinar ($2,617) bail.

Azad spoke to NRT immediately after his release Sunday and said he does not regret posting the video, but that he also was not intending to incite violence or protests.

“I am free to say and express whatever,” he said. “I don’t mean to encourage people to go out on the streets and violate or annoy people. I am from Kurdistan and I want Kurdistan to be free and progressive.”

Erbil’s police directorate issued a statement Saturday saying it rejected allegations that Azad had been abducted and tortured by officers.

Azad said he had not been harmed while in custody.

Soran Omer, head of the Human Rights Committee in the Kurdistan Parliament, said Azad was arrested for expressing his anger towards Kurdish authorities, not for defamation, as police officials stated.

“He was accused of defamation,” Omer said. “Forming a committee to investigate his statements is against the law because he wasn’t at work when he did it.” Azad is a government employee working for the Erbil Civil Defense Directorate.

Omer also said he called on the KRG’s Interior Minister to review Azad’s case.

A number of civil society organizations gathered together in Erbil’s Minaret Park on Saturday to express concern over Azad’s arrest and call on the KRG to release him.

One of the demonstration’s organizers said the group had gathered to push for freedom of speech, which they feel is under threat in the Kurdistan Region.

And while Kurdistan region in the north often promotes itself as safer and more respectful of human rights than the rest of Iraq, it has been sharply criticised by rights groups for infringing on free speech.
