Syria war intensify: Another Iranian General, 7 Other IRGC Members Killed in Syria

October 23, 2015 By administrator

13940718000412_PhotoITEHRAN (FNA)- A top commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) was killed in clashes in Central Syria last night, bringing the number of IRGC casualties in the war-torn country in the last couple of days to 8.

Brigadier General Reza Khavari, the senior commander of IRGC’s Fatemiyoun Division, was martyred in clashes with Takfiri terrorists in the Northern parts of the province of Hama, Central Syria, Thursday night while fulfilling his duty as a military adviser.

A sum of 7 other IRGC members, mostly from Ansar Corps, have been martyred in Syria in the last two days. Amin Karimi, a member of the IRGC’s Ansar Corps, has also been named among those killed in the last couple of days, although his military rank is not known.

IRGC Public Relations Chief General Ramezan Sharif told FNA on Friday evening that the IRGC has boosted the number of its advisors in Syria in recent days following government troops’ striking victories in multiple fronts across the nation.

Ramezan Sharif confirmed the 8 casualties sustained by the IRGC in Syria in the last several days.

Asked why the IRGC casualties in Syria are mostly ranking officers, he said Iran does not have combat troops in Syria and has only sent advisors to help the Muslim nation, who provide counseling services and strategies to the Syrian army commanders in the battlefield and from a very close range to the forefront. He reminded that low-ranking officers are not fit for such a vital job.

Earlier today it was revealed that the bodyguard of Iran’s former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been one of the latest IRGC casualties in in Syria.

Abdollah Baqeri Niyaraki was martyred while fulfilling his duty as military advisor in Syria’s Northern province of Aleppo.

Baqeri Niyaraki was an IRGC commander who served as a bodyguard of former President Ahmadinejad for some time. Niyaraki was a member of IRGC’s Ansar Corps.

His martyrdom came after three other IRGC war veteran commanders were killed during attacks by the ISIL Takfiri terrorists in Syria.

On October 13, two IRGC commanders, providing military counseling services to the Syrian forces in their fight against the Takfiri terrorists, were killed in Southern Syria.

Colonel Farshad Hasounizadeh, the former commander of IRGC’s Saberin Special Brigade, was martyred while fulfilling his duty as military adviser in Syria and fighting the Takfiri terrorists in the Muslim country.

Also, the former commander of IRGC Hazrat Hojjat 1 Brigade Hajj Hamid Mokhtar-band, nicknamed Abu Zahra, was killed in Syria.

Both Hasounizadeh and Mokhtar-band were IRGC war veterans and were martyred in Southern Syria. According to Iran’s military rules, those missed or killed in operation are promoted to a higher rank and that’s why in a few Persian-language sources, Colonel Hasounizadeh has been referred to as a General.

A few days earlier, a top IRGC commander Brigadier General Hossein Hamadani was martyred during an attack by the ISIL Takfiri terrorists in the outskirts of the city of Aleppo.

General Hamadani was in Syria to render military advice to the Syrian army and popular forces in their fight against the ISIL terrorists in the Arab country.

In September 2014, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Gholam Ali Rashid announced that Iran’s military advisors are present in the friendly regional states to provide those nations with necessary military recommendations.

“Some of our commanders are in the field to give military advice to the Iraqi army, Lebanon’s Hezbollah and the Palestinian resistance movement,” Major General Rashid said, addressing a conference attended by a group of senior military commanders in Tehran.

Eighteen people from the same family lost their lives in the twin explosions that hit Ankara on Saturday, having traveled to the Turkish capital from Siirt province to attend a rally organized by pro-Kurdish and leftist activists, the Hürriyet daily reported on Wednesday.

Two blasts within seconds of each other killed 97 people and wounded over 500 on Saturday morning when pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) activists, leftists, labor unions and other civil society groups had gathered in Ankara for a march to protest the deaths of hundreds of civilians since the resumption of the conflict between Turkish security forces and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the country’s mainly Kurdish Southeast.

Speaking to Hürriyet on Tuesday, Hülya Ünal, a family member of the 18 relatives who died, said that three of them had not yet been officially identified. “I’ve been waiting in front of the [Ankara Council of] Forensic Medicine [ATK] morgue for four days. We have lost 18 people in our family. The identification process is still under way for three of my relatives — Filiz Batur, Bedriye Batur and Hasan Baykara. I have waited for 15 relatives in front of this door [of the morgue] and sent them to their hometown [for burial]. I was planning to show them around Ankara because they had never been here before. However, now I’m sending their bodies off [to their hometown].”

Four Turkish soldiers killed, seven wounded in PKK attacks, curfew imposed

October 1, 2015 By administrator

229903Two soldiers were gunned down by Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK)  as they left for work on Thursday in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır, while two others died in clashes between Turkish security forces and PKK terrorists in Mardin’s Nusaybin and Şırnak‘s Beytüşşebap districts on Thursday. Report Zaman

As the PKK-related tension in southeastern Turkey continues to grow with every passing day, Turkey witnessed another series of clashes between the terrorist group and Turkish security forces during which four soldiers were martyred.

In Mardin’s Nusaybin district, one soldier was killed and six others were injured on Thursday morning when members of the PKK opened fire on troops guarding fellow soldiers who were checking a road in the southeastern province of Hakkari. The wounded soldiers were reportedly taken to a military hospital in Mardin by helicopter.

The Mardin Governor’s Office declared a curfew, as of 5 p.m., in the district where the first attack took place in the early hours of the morning. The wounded personnel are not in life-threatening condition, the office added.

According to several media outlets, a group of terrorists fired long-barreled weapons against troops who were guarding other soldiers checking the Mardin-Kızıltepe highway and the troops returned fire.

Two F-16 fighter jets were reportedly dispatched to the area and an operation, supported by drones, an attack helicopter and a reinforcement unit, was launched to find PKK members in the area.

According to the Cihan news agency, one terrorist was “rendered ineffective” in coordinated operations that followed the attack, and the PKK casualties were expected to increase as security operations, backed by Turkish Air Force warplanes, helicopters and drones were still ongoing.

In yet another attack in the city in the afternoon, one soldier was killed and another was wounded injured in Şırnak’s Beytüşşebap district, after PKK terrorists detonated a bomb while a military vehicle was passing late on Thursday. The injured soldier was taken to a nearby hospital and an air operation has been launched in the area to find the assailants.

In addition, two other soldiers were killed by PKK militants in Diyarbakır early on Thursday.

After a suicide bomber carried out an attack in the Suruç district of Şanlıurfa on July 20, killing 33 activists and injuring more than 100 people, PKK-related tension in southeastern Turkey has grown over the past month. Two police officers were shot in the head by PKK members in retaliation for the Suruç terrorist attack on July 22. The violence and PKK-led attacks further escalated when Turkey carried out air strikes against PKK bases in neighboring Iraq.

More than 100 security personnel and hundreds of PKK members have been killed since the collapse of a cease-fire with the PKK in July. The renewed hostilities have left efforts to establish long-term peace in ruins, and have sparked some of the worst recent clashes in a three-decades-long conflict.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said this week that up to 2,000 militants from the PKK have been killed in recent military operations inside Turkey and in northern Iraq.
