Artsakh Nationwide Movement rally continues in Nagorno-Karabakh Video

July 14, 2023 By administrator

The rally of the Nationwide Movement continues in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).

The people, who had assembled at Renaissance Square in the capital Stepanakert early Friday morning, marched to Ivanyan village, where the headquarters of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Artsakh is located. They are going to pitch tents and wait there until they are received by the Russian peacekeepers.

Before this, the participants of the aforesaid rally marched to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Stepanakert office, where they demanded the ICRC to present the whole reality regarding the situation in Artsakh to all international organizations.

The Nationwide Movement started in Artsakh Friday morning.

Thousands of Artsakh residents assembled at Renaissance Square of the capital Stepanakert. Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan also participated in the rally.

Artsakh Minister of State Gurgen Nersisyan on Thursday announced the start of this movement.

Later, former Minister of State Ruben Vardanyan issued a video message and announced that he was joining the movement.

The objective of this movement is to achieve the unblocking of the Lachin corridor, the lifeline of Artsakh, which Azerbaijan has blocked.

Opinion: How Street Protestor Nikol Pashinyan boosted Erdogan’s image in the world giving him a victory at home and respect abroad.

July 13, 2023 By administrator

By Wally Sarkeesian

Turkey’s President Erdogan has been actively working towards revitalizing the Ottoman Empire and engaging in conflicts with neighboring countries like Syria, Egypt, and Iraq. To achieve his ambitions, Erdogan has resorted to recruiting mercenaries in the region.

Some notable individuals recruited include Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, Mohammed Morsi, and Syrian fighters claiming to fight for freedom. Another individual believed to have been recruited due to his violent tendencies is Nikol Pashinyan, who initially gained attention as a street protester. In 2008, Pashinyan orchestrated a significant attack on the Armenian government, resulting in casualties and destruction. Despite initially receiving a seven-year sentence, it was reduced to two years by the former president.

It is believed that Turkey recruited Pashinyan in 2018, taking advantage of his skills as a street activist. This move aimed to instigate a revolution known as the velvet revolution, which is now referred to by most Armenians as the Turkish Revolution. Pashinyan successfully rallied people against the government, eventually gaining power. Two years later, he collaborated with Azerbaijan’s Aliyev to provoke a conflict that would compel Armenia to surrender, thereby granting Turkey the desired victory. Pashinyan consistently warned about the threat of Turkish drones, instilling fear in the Armenian population. Instead of deploying regular armed forces, he recruited inexperienced volunteers aged 18 to 20. This decision led to significant losses, with 5,000 soldiers killed, over 10,000 handicapped, and the loss of two-thirds of the territory.

Despite multiple attempts by Russia to stop the war, Pashinyan refused to halt the conflict and even allowed Azerbaijan to capture the city of Shushi. Many believe this was a planned outcome. Pashinyan then secretly capitulated without consulting the president, parliament, or his foreign affairs minister. However, the Armenian people’s uprising after the war proved insufficient, leading military generals to suspect a conspiracy and demand Pashinyan’s resignation.

Surprisingly, President Erdogan of Turkey orchestrated a campaign of international condemnation against the Armenian military, all while promoting false peace initiatives and infrastructure development. Additionally, they conspired to impede the movement of 120,000 Armenians in Artsakh. Erdogan skillfully exploited the efforts of Pashinyan, the Armenian Prime Minister, to gain popularity and secure victory in the election. As a symbolic gesture, Erdogan invited Pashinyan to his inauguration, where Pashinyan bolstered Erdogan’s image by giving him a standing ovation. This incident further enhanced Erdogan’s standing and allowed him to forge stronger relations with European nations, NATO, and the United States. Ultimately, the intended consequence of Nikol Pashinyan’s collaboration with the enemy bolstered Turkey’s position and detrimentally impacted Armenia’s downfall.

Armenia: The lists of all of us have already been compiled and it will be Pashinyan who will hand them over to Aliyev.

so that we can be arrested and tried in Azerbaijan. Ashot Minasyan

In order to correct the situation in Artsakh, first of all, it is necessary to change the negotiating parties, and in order to change the negotiator, it is necessary for a change of power to take place in Armenia and Artsakh. I understand that solving that problem in Artsakh will be a little more difficult at the moment, because for this a number of legislative changes should be initiated there, and in Armenia it should be done as quickly as possible and without delay. Only in this case will there be a breakthrough during the negotiations,” said the commander of the “Sisakan” detachment Ashot Minasyan (“Ashot Yerkat”) in a conversation with “Pastinfo”.
Until the change of power takes place, even if all Armenians stand up and shout that they do not want what is happening now with our two Armenian states, no positive process will take place, the disaster will reach its final and irreversible destruction, I am sure is Ashot Minasyan.
“Aratsakh earned the vote to exercise its right long ago, 32 years ago. However, in the case of the current authorities, no one will undertake the protection of that right on the international platforms, unless we say that the exact opposite process is taking place now. For a long time, we also understood a simple truth: the so-called current authorities will not leave by their own will. It seems that the numerous attempts of the opposition have not registered significant and decisive results. So what is left to do: enter town after town, village after village, knock on doors from house to house, explain who, in fact, this government is, what does it represent, who does it serve and who? Whose interest is, in fact, served within our country? It is necessary to make people aware that this is already the end for all of us, that we cannot tolerate and allow this anymore, that we must shake ourselves up, stand up, dignify the strength of will that remains in us and do our the decisive step in order not to lose our home, our Motherland, what is ours belongs to us with all kinds of rights. And all this should be started today and from the border settlements,” says the commander.
The disaster is these authorities that have come upon us, not the war or its danger, says Ashot Minasyan and adds: “If they speculated that Armenia holds Artsakh, life and situations have shown us and proved that the reality is exactly the opposite. Artsakh was our fortress, our shield, Artsakh kept and protected Mother Armenia. What did these scoundrels do? They led an entire nation to an artificial defeat and made us and the two Armenian states face such a fact. The soldier won. The soldier, in fact, fought and won, but by leading the nation to an artificial defeat, they solved another problem before them: they humiliated the soldier. The overwhelming majority of the military does not realize and does not understand that those who are called this government will continue to humiliate and humiliate everyone by condemning them, so that they will put all the blame for the unprecedented betrayal they have committed on the military. By the way, that process has already started and will go to the end, no one will be spared, no one will be saved, until the platoon and squad commanders will all be humiliated, they should know this well,” says “Sisakan”. the squad commander.
The speaker notes that if Pashinyan and his owners, the Collective West, get the Russian 102nd military base and the Russian peacekeeping unit to leave the region, then we will no longer have Artsakh as such. “The people will be deported from Artsakh. The big question here is how they will be deported… Will they allow our victorious commanders to leave Artsakh, will they allow the patriotic type to survive in general… at best, they will be tried and arrested and not only to the Armenian people living in Artsakh, but also to the Armenians here, to all those who fought, fought and defended the Motherland and created victories. And I have no doubt that the lists of all of us have already been compiled and it will be Pashinyan who will hand them over to Aliyev so that we can be arrested and tried in Azerbaijan,” says the commander of the “Sisakan” squad.
Since the day of coming to power, the policy towards the Armenian-loving type has been the main and primary program of the current authorities, which they are successfully implementing until now, says Ashot Minasyan. “Starting from the devaluation of everything that instills national and patriotism, up to the glorification of non-existent generals and the awarding of combat crosses and hero’s titles, all this was aimed at bringing the country and the people living there to this level of demoralization and degradation. When to take a simple hill in Tavush in 2020. In July, an idiot was given the title of national hero, and 81 people were given the title of “Knight of the Combat Cross of the First Class”, with this all those who were really awarded that high title in the past 30 years, who were really tens of hundreds of hills for liberation.

Agora, where are you? Every time Nicole addresses people as “dear people”, I cringe that is lying.

July 10, 2023 By administrator

Vakhtang Siradeghyan

Every time Nicole addresses people as “dear people”, I cringe. I don’t know if people understand or not that he is lying. To be beloved means that the speaker is willing to sacrifice himself for the sake of that particular person (or persons).

And that’s why only one or two dozen people can be dear to one person: parents (grandparents), spouse, children, grandchildren (great-grandchildren), and one or two close friends. And the people can be respectable or not respectable. But since the important thing for the person clinging to the position of RA Prime Minister is not sincerity, but manipulating people, then almost everyone is “loved” by him. In the beginning, the masses of people who brought him to power were “lovable”. After the shameful defeat, the guerrilla groups he formed called “Guardians of the Revolution” remained “loved”. In the campaign for the June 2021 election, the people who attended his meetings were “loved” and voted for him. Now it is difficult to say how many people remained “loved”. perhaps the 28 percent who still, to one degree or another, trust him. But this does not prevent him from addressing everyone in the form of “dear people”.

Anyway, Nikol promised direct democracy to his “beloved people” in the spring and summer of 2018. Republic Square should also be the place of its implementation, the agora. Let me remind you, in the polis (city-states) of Ancient Greece, the agora was the people’s meeting, as well as the place of its holding, the commercial square in the center of the city. The reason for making such a promise by Nikol was the imitation of the democracy established by the former. Which was protested by all the conscious people who wanted to live in a real and not an imitation democracy. And the most active of them was the oppositionist Pashinyan, the editor of the opposition daily, a follower of the oppositionist Ter-Petrosyan since the fall of 2007, and an opposition member of the National Assembly since 2012. Said means

Surprisingly, it was done that way at first. for example, the gates blocking the National Assembly Park were removed. A number of other steps were taken that seemed to people to be real reforms. Then it should have turned out that their implementation was a fluke or, if it was serious, something to be done after the fact. And much more serious problems remained unchanged. In the self-proclaimed “bastion of democracy”, for example, the electoral rolls inherited from the past remained unchanged. The pro-Petrosyan opposition, which did not accept the results of the 2008 presidential election, talked about the existence of up to 250 thousand “dead souls”. Nothing was done to actually reform the Electoral Code either. In fact, due to the self-interest of the government, some minor changes were made anyway.

According to the mentioned law, for example, the HayaVote initiative must collect 50,000 signatures in order to present the legislative amendments it authored to the National Assembly for consideration. And if they fail in the National Assembly, then 300,000 signatures must be collected so that they are automatically put to the referendum. One of the Facebook users, Hrayr Kamendatyan compared the number of signatures needed for the referendum. It turns out that the number of signatures required for a referendum in the country described by foreigners as a “shining star of democracy” is 10.71% of the population (we are talking about 300 thousand). Whereas in typical democratic (Western) countries it is between 0.1% and 2.0% (rounded). It is clear that this is a legacy left to Nicole from her exes. But Nikol does not consider himself the founder of Armenian democracy. Therefore, the index required for direct democracy (agora) had to be changed.

I will try to help Nikol in the direction of the approval of the agora in terms of the referendum. Which implies the amendment of the Referendum Law before the completion of the “HayaVote” process. According to the current Electoral Code, overcoming the threshold of 5 percent of those who participated in the election is considered a passing threshold for the National Assembly. 1,278,656 voters took part in the June 20, 2021 National Assembly election, 5 percent of which is 64,070. Having collected the necessary number of signatures to overcome the electoral threshold (it would be 2.5% of eligible citizens), the initiative group should have the right to put the issue to a referendum. Taking into account the fact that the initiating party would have the right to do so if it entered the National Assembly under the name of a party. And the minority in the National Assembly should have the right to do so in case the legislative initiative was rejected three times by the majority. It would show how popular the given legislation is among voters. Which, at the same time, would confirm the existence of real democracy.

Of course, the HayaVote process poses a threat to Nikol’s government. And the government is trying to prevent it by all possible means. Why not try to ease its implementation with the necessary reforms? And I am not naive enough to assume that an extraordinary session of the National Assembly will be held tomorrow and the submitted proposal will be accepted. But I also realize that not doing it will be another evidence that the Republic of Armenia is not a democracy, but the rule of one person under its name. Which tends to turn into total tyranny.

CPJ published a press release, Exposing Azerbaijan Crime Against Journalist

July 7, 2023 By administrator

Alexander Lapshin

On the website of the largest international human rights organization for the protection of journalists, CPJ published a press release about our meeting at the headquarters in New York two weeks ago.

Here I am publishing a short excerpt from the article, and in general, it clearly states that Azerbaijan, which occupies one of the last places in the world in the field of human rights, persecutes not only its own journalists but foreign ones as well. It states that the Baku regime has been found guilty by the European court and the UN of persecution, torture, and attempted murder. I think the world should know of the existence of this fascist education, buried on the banks of the Caspian Sea. And I, for my part, will talk about it everywhere and remind you.

Artsakh ombudsman calls on Armenia officials to stop making statements going against Artsakh interests

July 6, 2023 By administrator

It would be desirable for the representatives of Armenia’s authorities to refrain from statements that interfere with our common cause and the interests of Artsakh and question the right to self-determination.

Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Human Rights Defender (ombudsman) Gegham Stepanyan stated this during Thursday’s Yerevan-Stepanakert videoconference, answering the question about some Armenia government officials and MPs’ statements regarding the recognition of Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan.

According to the ombudsman, these statements are later quoted by international partners.

“In our case, that right is equal to the right to life. Armenia’s public and officials should realize as clearly as possible what is happening, the seriousness of the threat, because an impression is created that it is not fully perceived. The reaction and calmness of Armenia and even the [Armenian] diaspora is incomprehensible to me,” said Stepanyan.

He again called to refrain from statements that go against the interests of Artsakh, adding that, “If they cannot help, at least let them not obstruct.”

Opinion: There are two distinct groups of US ambassadors with differing views on Armenia.

July 3, 2023 By administrator

According to Armenian sources, the abrupt removal of Evans from his position was allegedly due to his vocal support for recognizing the Armenian genocide.

Evans himself revealed during an oral history interview that he had clashed with Daniel Fried, the State Department Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs, who accused him of obstructing the President’s stance on the Armenian Genocide, ultimately leading to his dismissal. Some have suggested that Turkey, a significant US ally in the Middle East, may have exerted pressure on the Department of State to remove Evans based on his personal beliefs and statements.

In our opinion, the current US Ambassador to Armenia appears to lean more favorably towards Azerbaijan. The ambassador has issued a clear and unequivocal statement that reflects the official American position on the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict and the ongoing negotiation process. The US State Department’s stance seems firmly aligned with one side of the issue, making any discussion of potential diplomatic and political pressure the US government could exert on Azerbaijan, such as imposing sanctions, seemingly irrelevant. The Biden administration’s primary focus is to expedite an agreement, which some perceive as rushed, incomprehensible, and unsustainable, in order to present it as a global achievement in peacemaking. However, critics argue that by doing so, the administration may unintentionally enable ethnic cleansing and/or cultural destruction of the indigenous Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh. Some believe that President Biden has room for improvement in handling this complex situation.

Pashinyan’s Ankara Visit Used by Turkish, Officials to Undermine Diaspora Efforts

July 3, 2023 By administrator

By Harut Sassounian

There is a good reason why many Armenians around the world reacted negatively to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s unwise decision to attend Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s inauguration in Ankara on June 3, 2023.
First of all, it was inappropriate for Pashinyan to attend Erdogan’s inauguration, particularly since as recently as in 2020, Turkish drones killed thousands of young Armenian soldiers during the Artsakh War, and Turkey recruited thousands of Islamist terrorists from Syria to fight against Artsakh. Furthermore, the Ottoman Empire committed the Genocide of 1.5 million Armenians which the Turkish government still denies a century later.
Secondly, since the 2020 War, Turkey has been a staunch military, economic and political ally of Azerbaijan. Several times, Erdogan traveled Azerbaijan and Artsakh, including Shushi, making anti-Armenian statements. As recently as June 13, during his visit to Artsakh, Erdogan announced that Turkey will open a consulate in Shushi, which “would be a message to the world and especially to Armenia.” Erdogan made a similar visit on June 15, 2021, during which he and Pres. Aliyev signed a joint Ankara-Baku “Shushi Declaration.” Erdogan declared that Turkey will cooperate with Azerbaijan in “the restoration of Nagorno Karabakh.” Armenia’s Foreign Ministry condemned Erdogan’s and Aliyev’s visit to Shushi, stating that “these provocative actions clearly reveal that Ankara’s and Baku’s statements on normalization of relations with Armenia and the Armenian people are false and misleading,”
Thirdly, Armenia and Turkey have met several times during the past year and a half to open their mutual border “without any preconditions.” The border is still closed which shows Turkey’s unwillingness to open the border, unless Armenia meets certain preconditions like signing “a peace treaty” with Azerbaijan, allowing a “Corridor” to cross Armenia into Nakhichevan, and dismantling the monument in Yerevan in honor of the avengers of the Turkish masterminds of the Armenian Genocide. Turkey immediately banned from its skies Armenian overflights and threatened further action if the monument is not dismantled.
Fourthly, if Pashinyan had knowledgeable advisors, and if he listened to them, they would have suggested to him that it would have been wiser if he had designated another official to represent him at the inauguration in Ankara. Begging for normalized relations with Turkey is not in Armenia’s interest.
Nevertheless, the damage is done and Turkish officials are shrewd enough to take advantage of Pashinyan’s faux pas.
Sinan Kuzum, Turkey’s Consul General in Los Angeles, sent a very clever letter to members of the California State Assembly and Senate on June 6, taking quick advantage of Pashinyan’s June 3 visit to Ankara, to discredit the lobbying efforts of Armenian-American organizations in California.
Here are excerpts from the Turkish letter: “I am writing to you to inform you about positive developments in Turkish-Armenian relations, as I am aware that you are interested in this issue, considering your statements in the past. Last weekend marked a historical moment in modern Turkish-Armenian relations. On June 3rd, the Armenian Prime Minister, Mr. Nikol Pashinyan, attended the inauguration ceremony of the Turkish President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, following his re-election. On the occasion of the Prime Minister’s visit to Ankara, President Erdogan came together with prominent members of the Armenian-Turkish community, including the Armenian Patriarch of Istanbul Sahag II Mashalian. (I enclose herewith a picture taken during this visit where Mr. President is seen with his Armenian counterpart, the Patriarch and other members of the Armenian-Turkish community).”
The Turkish letter continued: “I am bringing this to your attention because I realize that this kind of positive developments are often ignored. Instead, a rhetoric of hatred of my country is prevailing here in Los Angeles and California. Having said that I invite you to consider whether what you are being told by certain groups here in Los Angeles is in line with the reality of the current state of relations between the two countries or not. The Turkish and Armenian governments are making a historic effort to normalize their relations. Please do not turn a blind eye to this effort.”
The Turkish Consul General concluded his letter: “I, therefore, kindly ask you to put these facts into consideration in the future while you are making any statement or taking any decision on Turkish-Armenian issues. This approach would be much more conducive to peace between the Armenian and Turkish people.”
When asked for a reaction, an anonymous high-ranking official in Armenia stated: “Pure opportunism. There is no positive development at all. The negotiations have not yielded any positive results.”
Fortunately, the Turkish Consul General’s letter will have very little effect on California’s legislators. He is just writing this letter to show to his bosses in Ankara that he is doing some work. California legislators are not going to take the snake-tongued words of a foreign diplomat over the wishes of their citizens in California.
We assume that the Turkish Ambassador in Washington has sent a similar letter to members of Congress. Turkish diplomats around the world probably did the same thing in their respective countries.
Armenians cannot blame Turkish diplomats for doing what’s in the best interest of their country, since the Prime Minister of Armenia, Pashinyan, has handed to Turkey this opportunity on a silver platter!

Edgar Ghazaryan, Ararat Mirzoyan can be successful only in cleaning his mother-in-law’s house with a vacuum cleaner.

July 2, 2023 By administrator

Yesterday, the “Hayakve” initiative announced the start of the signature collection. The process of collecting signatures began in the Kentron administrative district building. And although the members of the initiative have 60 days to collect 50,000 signatures, according to our information, they have decided to provide this amount within the first week. Edgar Ghazaryan,

former head of the staff of the CC, and former ambassador, was also at the center district administration. We asked him a few questions. – You also joined the “Hayakve” initiative. Why did the issue of criminalizing calls to recognize Artsakh as part of another state become so relevant today? – Everything is obvious. This problem is so mature that it is difficult not to talk about it. Our country is ruled by a person who violates the legal foundations of our state, namely the Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Armenia and the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia.

Nikol Pashinyan’s theses, approaches and ideas contradict the legislation of the Republic of Armenia, therefore, it is necessary to criminalize the speech that contradicts the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence of our country. It is very symbolic that this initiative is implemented not by the initiative of the opposition deputies, but by a civil initiative. The “Hayakve” initiative was created, which at this stage envisages 50,000 signatures, as a result of which the project will enter the National Assembly for discussion. – Will a government that talks about recognizing the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, a government that does not miss an opportunity to congratulate the president of Turkey and greet the heads of enemy states, allow such a pro-Armenian initiative to be implemented? – These people are not the owners of the power, the people are the owners of the power, so the people decide through whose government and how, what initiative should be implemented. The people who occupy some positions today are just public servants who are obliged to provide quality and efficient services to our society. Obviously, it doesn’t work for them.

“Hayakve” is a set of general ideas that one should not wait for the favor of the so-called authorities, but use the opportunity to throw them out of their positions. – Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan is negotiating with his counterpart in Washington these days, no one is aware of what they are negotiating, at least we don’t know the details. In your opinion, what is Mirzoyan negotiating? – Weeks ago, Nikol Pashinyan in turn announced in Prague that the reason for the failed negotiations is that Ilham Aliyev is not ready to recognize the territorial integrity of Armenia. One of the deputy ministers of foreign affairs also stated that there are no common sides with the Azerbaijani side at the moment. Today there is no talk of negotiations, because there are no successes, and there is no need to expect successes. Expecting diplomatic success from Ararat Mirzoyan is a fantasy. Ararat Mirzoyan may be successful in vacuuming his mother-in-law’s house, but not in diplomacy. He may be successful in choosing metlakh for his new mansion, in choosing kovrolite, which wall should have what color, etc., etc., but that person cannot have any success in diplomacy. They should be kicked out of power by bringing to power people who can make decisions in the interests of the Armenian people and the Armenian states. “Hraparak Daily”
