Armenia Security chief says some groups plotting to ‘neutralize’ PM

June 18, 2018 By administrator

Chief of the National Security Service Artur Vanetsyan said on Monday, June 18 that the NSS has received information that “some groups” are trying “to neutralize us” (the leadership of the National Security Service – Ed.).

The reason, Vanetsyan said, is the Service’s activity and fresh corruption-related findings.

The National Security Service on Sunday, June 17 unveiled video footage of searches conducted in the private house and the summer house belonging to Grigoryan. Besides the large quantities of weapons and ammunition, the SNS has confiscated a vast amount of equipment and food belonging to the army, the assistance collected by school children, the Church and civilians for sending to the Nagorno Karabakh frontline in the days of the Four-Day War in April 2016 – which were used to feed Grigoryan’s animals – as well as vehicles donated to the army.

According to him, they have received similar information concerning “the neutralization” of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Vanetsyan, however, did not provide any details on who might be standing behind the reports or the possible plot.

The Security chief added, however, he doesn’t think anyone would initiate such an attempts against “such a highly respected Prime Minister.”

Kurdish Forces PKK neutralize five Turkish security forces in Nusaybin clashes

April 8, 2016 By administrator

Turkish-security-forces-in-Turkish-Kurdistan-dec-2015-photo-epaISTANBUL,— Kurdish militants killed five members of the Turkish security forces on Thursday in a series of clashes and bomb attacks in a town under a military lockdown in Turkish Kurdistan, the southeast of the country, the Dogan news agency reported.

The Turkish security forces were carrying out an operation in the town of Nusaybin in Mardin province where the government has been waging a blistering offensive against the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

A senior police officer was hit by gunfire and later died, and four other members of the security forces, including a major in the gendarmerie and another senior police officer, died in two separate bomb attacks.

Nusaybin has been under curfew since mid-March for a military operation to push the PKK out of the town, where the authorities say the group has dug trenches and put up barricades.

Hundreds of security forces have been killed in the Kurdish region, while government says thousands of PKK militants have died.

Opposition political parties say between 500 and 1,000 civilians, mostly Kurds, have also perished in the fighting, since the Turkish offensive against the PKK centred in towns and cities in Turkish Kurdistan.

Ankara launched the offensive against the PKK after the collapse in 2015 of a two-year long ceasefire with the group that has been a thorn in its side for three decades.

The renewed conflict has also struck the heart of the country, with two attacks that killed dozens in the capital Ankara claimed by Kurdish rebels, at a time when citizens are already on high alert over bombings by the Islamic State group.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday proposed stripping Turkish citizenship from supporters of Kurdish rebels.

“These people don’t deserve to be our citizens. We are not obliged to carry anyone engaged in the betrayal of their state and their people,” he said.

A day after his comments his Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag said: “Of course we will begin work on this”.

he PKK took up arms in 1984 against the Turkish state, which still denies the constitutional existence of Kurds, to push for greater autonomy for the Kurdish minority who make up around 22.5 million of the country’s 78-million population.

A large Turkey’s Kurdish community openly sympathise with PKK rebels.

The European Union has urged last week Turkey to restart the peace process with the Kurd.

Turkey seeking to neutralize Armenia’s efforts ahead of Armenian Genocide centennial – Hayk Demoyan

December 25, 2014 By administrator

f549bf32b1b8f0_549bf32b1b926.thumbTurkey and its supporters are implementing a policy to neutralize the effect of the Armenian side’s preparations for the centennial of the Armenian Genocide, Hayk Demoyan, Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, told reporters on Thursday.

This policy is implemented in two directions: first, neutralizing the steps by Armenia and the Armenian Diaspora by what is known as “penetration”; secondly, causing domestic disagreements thereby taking control of society.

“Penetration implies organizing simultaneous events in Armenia and in the Armenian Diaspora, involvement of influential people, and an attempt to defy the logic of the centennial of the Armenian Genocide,” Mr Demoyan said.

Turkey is seeking to distort the topic of the Armenian Genocide, trying to find common ground with people it could control in Armenia and in the Armenian Diaspora.

The aim of Turkey’s policy is to speak well of the Turks that saved Armenians, doing so out of context.

“They are seeking to impose this view. However, what actually happened to 1.5 million Armenians is of no importance,” Mr Demoyan said.

He warns Armenian citizens and the Armenian Diaspora against cooperating with any Turkish organization.

“Let them call be a racist, but I clearly state that nine of ten such organizations Turkish special agents. I would like to warn our citizens against succumbing to temptations. Any talks about tolerance or good-neighborly relations are not to the point in this case. Turkey’s ex-FM, and now Turkey’s premier have stated that their aim is to find people in the Armenian Diaspora that would cooperate with them.”

Mr Demoyan described such phenomena as a challenge ahead of the Genocide centennial. “There is undue rivalry. Unless we are able to rid ourselves from that, we won’t succeed; this isn’t sport; we see here who is capable of what,” he said, adding that they understand the necessity of creating tools and raising awareness.

Mr Demoyan cites the example of presentation of a book by Cemal Pasa’s grandson Hasan Cemal, which, he said, fits the aforementioned scenario.
