Turkey conducts military Terrorism airstrikes on Kurdish people in northern Iraq

December 14, 2018 By administrator

The Turkish Armed Forces on Dec. 13 conducted airstrikes in northern Iraq’s Sinjar and Mount Karacak regions, Hurriyet Daily News reports, citing the Defense Ministry.

According to an official statement, the air operation was conducted to “neutralize PKK/KCK/PYD/YPG and other terrorist elements.”

Ankara considers the YPG as the Syrian branch of the PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the EU and the US.

“The operation targeted housing facilities, shelters, caves, tunnels, and storage units used by terrorists that threaten our country, nation, and border security,” the statement said.

In the planning and implementation stages of the operation, the statement continued, Turkey exercised due caution to prevent civilian casualties and damage to civilian property, and to protect the environment.

Fahrettin Altun, Communications Director of Turkish Presidency, said in a Twitter post that a successful air operation targeted Sinjar and Mount Karacak, which are among the “important” centers of terror elements.

“This operation dealt a blow to terror and it was a message to terror supporters,” he added.

Holding parades and completing combat missions ain’t the same, says Armenian army chief on Baku military display

June 29, 2018 By administrator

Azerbaijan’s armament and attempts to pull the Armenian side into an arms race can’t not concern not only Armenia but also the entire international community because it jeopardizes the stability of the entire region, Major general Artak Davtyan – Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces told ARMENPRESS.

“It would be naïve to think that the defense ministry of Armenia is acquiring information about the armaments of the Azerbaijani military arsenal from the parade in Baku. Naturally we are aware of what weapons the adversary has, which types it emphasizes the most, what it is trying to acquire etc. Certainly, Azerbaijan’s armament and the attempt to pull us into this race can’t not concern, moreover not only us but the entire international community, because it jeopardizes the stability of the entire region, moreover in the case of the current Azerbaijani leadership, which is known for its bellicose rhetoric.

I assure our citizens that the Armed Forces of Armenia have sufficient means for the effective implementation of their missions. Moreover: we are taking practical steps to gain qualitative advantage in terms of armaments, also through boosting development of our own military industry. Our society will periodically have the chance to get convinced in this. The above-mentioned issue is under the attention of the state’s military-political leadership and daily supervision. Holding a parade and implementing a military mission are different actions and a bright example of this are the “luxurious” military parades which are held in Baku for more than two decades, and simultaneously tactical and strategic losses,” Artak Davtyan said.

Military officer busted red-handed for embezzlement of technical supplies – NSS

June 21, 2018 By administrator

YEREVAN, JUNE 21, National security service (NSS) agents of the general department of military counter-intelligence have discovered cases of embezzlement in military bases on June 11 and June 12, the NSS said.

The NSS said that commanders of several units of a military base have misappropriated significant amounts of petrol in a period spanning from December 2017 to June 2018.

Investigation revealed that the ranking commander in charge of the storage facility conspired with the command of the base to commit the crime, NSS said.

The ranking officer is suspected in illegally selling the misappropriated petrol to nearby gas stations. He then distributed the money made from the deal between the commanders of the base.

The suspects have been apprehended red handed at the gas station, NSS said.

In another similar investigation, the NSS has revealed that ranking officers of another military base have embezzled technical spare parts meant for military vehicles. They are suspected in illegally selling the equipment.

The investigation continues, NSS said.

RT Report: Russia’s military options to counter US strike in Syria

April 12, 2018 By administrator

With the US and Russia engaged in a public row over the consequences of a possible American attack against Syria, the capabilities that Moscow has to respond to it are a major question.

Washington threatened military action against the Syrian government in response to an alleged chemical weapons attack in Douma, which incidentally happened exactly a year after the first such America raid against Syria. In April 2017, President Donald Trump was apparently satisfied with a largely symbolic pounding of a Syrian airbase with dozens of Tomahawk missiles.

The current situation appears much tenser, with Russia openly threatening to directly oppose an American attack on Syrian soil. Russia’s determination may be questioned, considering its record of not opposing Israeli raids in Syria, but its capabilities to resist the attack are not in dispute.

Russian troops have two primary sites in Syria, the Khmeimim airbase near the northern port city of Latakia, and the naval facility in Tartus in the northern part of the Syrian coast. Both locations are covered by long-range surface-to-air missiles, including S-400 systems deployed near Khmeimim and S-300VM ones defending Tartus. Both systems have a reported range of up to 400km, depending on the missile used, and are considered among the world’s best long-range anti-missile systems currently in service.

Complementing those interceptors are shorter-range systems, including the middle-range Buk-M2 and the short-range Pantsir S1. The systems are meant to project layers upon layers of anti-access/area denial coverage, defending a strategic site from any threat, from small armed drones and low-flying aircraft, to tactical ballistic missiles.

The presumed weak spot of Russian long-range air defense systems is target acquisition, which requires additional radar coverage. In Syria, it is unlikely to be a problem, however, considering Russia’s use of its counterpart to AWACS, the A-50 airborne radar, and reports that its air defenses have been integrated with older Soviet assets used by the Syrian troops.

The US may try to overwhelm the Russian systems with a barrage of missiles, but the efficiency of the strike will still be significantly reduced.

In a limited missile attack scenario, the Russian military may deliver on the threat it made and retaliate against the origin of the missiles – the US guided-missile destroyers and possibly attack submarines currently deployed in the Mediterranean. Attacking them with lethal force would be a major escalation in the conflict, but the Russian military may use a limited response – using airborne electronic warfare equipment to harass the American ships, messing up their target acquisition, geolocation or even AEGIS anti-aircraft systems. The extent of damage this may cause is debatable, but it would certainly make the job of destroying whatever targets the US command has in mind in Syria much more difficult.

Turkey Declares a Military Frontline Against America “Will Trump Act?”

January 22, 2018 By administrator

By Simon A. Waldman

The U.S.-Turkish relationship had endured for over 70 years. But now Turkey wants to muscle the Americans out the Middle East. On a bogus pretext and backed by Russia, Turkey has launched an incursion into Syria – and a proxy war against the U.S.

Ankara’s latest military operation into the Afrin enclave in Syria is yet another example of Turkey’s drift from NATO. It is a de facto proxy war against the United States and part of a broader Turkish…

KRSC Representation in the United States report Alarming Iraqi military buildup near Makhmour

December 18, 2017 By administrator

The Kurdistan Region Security Council (KRSC) is alarmed by significant Iraqi military buildup in the vicinity of Makhmour, south west of Erbil, in preparation for an attack on nearby Peshmerga positions.

Intelligence from the last five days indicates that Iraqi Army, PMU, Federal Police and ERD deployments plan to attack the Gwer-Dibege-Dibis road connecting Mosul to Kirkuk.

Peshmerga forces withdrew from Makhmour in October to the current position to avoid military clashes with Iraqi forces. The KRG calls on the Iraqi Government to stop its provocative advances.

Zimbabwe’s Military, in Apparent Takeover, Says It Has Custody of Mugabe

November 15, 2017 By administrator

HARARE, Zimbabwe — Zimbabwe’s military said early Wednesday that it had taken custody of President Robert Mugabe, the world’s oldest head of state and one of Africa’s longest-serving leaders, in what increasingly appeared to be a military takeover in the southern African nation.

After apparently seizing the state broadcaster, ZBC, two uniformed officers said in a short predawn announcement that “the situation in our country has moved to another level.” While denying that the military had seized power, they said that Mr. Mugabe and his family “are safe and sound, and their security is guaranteed.”

“We are only targeting criminals around him who are committing crimes that are causing social and economic suffering in the country in order to bring them to justice,” said the main speaker, who was identified as Maj. Gen. S. B. Moyo, the army’s chief of staff.
