All the Animals are equal

August 1, 2015 By administrator

By Awat Mawlood,

GetFileAttachmentThe above title derived from George Orwell’s “Animal Farm”
First, this novel is about a political though in the mid-years of the previous century and it talks about having Dictatorship and Revolution and the differences among these two ideas.

Further, this Farm consists of a Farmer (Human) and some Animals. The cruelty of Human power made the animals to think about revolution which means that the farmer is a dictator. So, the animals did the revolution and the leader of the revolution states this statement “All the animals are Equal”. Here, I have capitalized the word “Equal” to give emphasis and show how this word is neglected after the process. At first, all the animals are happy because they have a good leader (Snowball) which makes a better life for them. But, later on the situation changes because of a coup which is done by some of the cruel pigs (another dictator). The leader of this coup is (Napoleon) and he made life of the animals more difficult and put some dictatorial rules and imitates the human power as before exist in the farm. The new power starts to accuse those who are against them, and they made new rules for the sake of the safety of their power. These entire things made the animals (people) to do another revolution to change the power in the farm (society) and they get succeed and created a new power which respects animals. As mentioned that the word Equal is being neglected by the dictatorial power in the farm and they do everything to safe their power even they are ready to destroy their homes (nations) to maintain in power.

George Orwell makes an image of a farm and some animal and Human being to show how the dictatorial systems could destroy the world.

In other words if we compare this novel to the system of power in Iraqi-Kurdistan we see that there are some similarities among them, in case of having a dictatorial system and having no Equality among the people in power and outside the power and in terms having enemy to safe their power.

We all know that Kurds faced many difficulties, such as Dictatorship (Baath) and then they were live in a bad life and they think about a revolution and did. Then the new power which is Kurd is doing the same acts of the previous dictatorial system. Also, the word equality is neglected and here people think about having another revolution. The new power does not have mercy for people even for a small gathering they have questions and they may not allow people to have freedom of speaking and political freedom. We may face another difficulty which is about creating a good power.

There are some similarities between Napoleon the coup leader and Mas’ud Barzani the Iraqi-Kurdistan president in terms of having power. Napoleon makes trade with humans and the rest of the animal do not have right to ask about the benefit of that trade, while Barzani’s sold the oil of Kurdistan and there is no one could say where do u put the benefit of that trade. Another point is about having military power to safe the dictatorial system, Napoleon grew some dogs up to use them in future and did, again Barzani has a special military power which is “Zeravni” that according some sources they are about 5,000 soldier that are ready to sacrifice their life for Barzani in terms of war.

That is why I have compared this novel with the power system in Kurdistan

Women are not equal to men, Turkish president declares

erdogan-womanANKARA, Turkey — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan set off a new controversy on Monday, declaring that women are not equal to men and accusing feminists of not understanding the special status that Islam attributes to mothers.

Addressing a meeting in Istanbul on women and justice, Erdogan said men and women are created differently, that women cannot be expected to undertake the same work as men, and that mothers enjoy a high position that only they can reach.

“You cannot put women and men on an equal footing,” Erdogan said. “It is against nature. They were created differently. Their nature is different. Their constitution is different.”

Erdogan added: “Motherhood is the highest position … You cannot explain this to feminists. They don’t accept motherhood. They have no such concern.”

Lawyer and women’s rights activist Hulya Gulbahar said Erdogan’s comments were in violation of Turkey’s constitution, Turkish laws and international conventions on gender equality and didn’t help efforts to stem high incidences of violence against women in Turkey.

“Such comments by state officials which disregard equality between men and women play an important role in the rise of violence against women,” Gulbahar said. “Such comments aim to make women’s presence in public life — from politics to arts, from science to sports — debatable.”

Erdogan, a devout Muslim, often courts controversy with divisive public comments. He has previously angered women’s groups by stating that women should bear at least three children and by attempting to outlaw abortion and adultery.

He raised eyebrows this month by declaring that Muslims had discovered the Americas before Christopher Columbus.
