Nicos Anastasiades: Armenia and Cyprus are victims of impunity

April 24, 2015 By administrator

cyprus-presidentYEREVAN. – The histories of Armenia and Cyprus are interlinked

The President of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades, stated the aforementioned Friday at the Armenian Genocide Memorial in capital city Yerevan.

“We are here, together with numerous leading figures, to pay tribute, together with the Armenian people, to the memory of the [Armenian Genocide] victims,” Anastasiades said. “Cyprus was among the first to recognize the Genocide.”

He added that the presence of each and everyone at this memorial has the objective of keeping alive the memory of the victims of this tragedy, and sending the message that impunity will not go unpunished.

“Both Armenia and Cyprus are the victims of impunity.

“It is time that historical facts are recognized; this is important also for the normalization of relations with the neighboring country [i.e. Turkey].

“Remembering the Great Calamity, paying tribute to the strength of the survivors is very important, and the whole mankind bears this obligation. We remember and demand!” the Cypriot president specifically noted.
