Osmanlıda 1895 katliamlarını yaşayan bu halklar, Devlette devamlılık esastır ilkesiyle Jön Türklerin baş rolü oynadığı 1909 Klikya katliamından sonra en sistematik katliamları 1915 soykırımı ile yaşamışlardır.

Bu kabus dolu yıllarda , Papaz Matta Hrimo Mardin’e 23 Haziran’da döner. Mardin’de 2. kafilede tutuklananlardan biridir. 1855 Mardin doğumlu olan papaz tutuklandığı sırada 60 yaşlarındaydı.
