The Armenian community in Las Vegas plans to organize a special vigil service in tribute to the victims of the deadly Las Vegas shooting.

“We take such cases very seriously. Here, in Las Vegas, all the members of the Armenian community are on alert,” The Voice of America Armenian service quoted Very Rev. Fr. Sasoon Zumrookhdian at the St. Geragos Armenian Apostolic Church in Las Vegas as saying.

He highlighted that U.S. Armenian Community also shares the common grief, planning to hold a vigil service on Thursday night to offer prayers in memory of the victims.

Zumrookhdian said that according to the initial unconfirmed data there are no Armenians among the victims of the mass shooting. “I am sure there were Armenians in that hotel during the incident, but we are not sure whether they were present at the concert or not,” he noted.

This week all the US flags will remain lowered to half-staff in memory of the victims.

According to the latest data, at least 59 people were killed and 527 injured in Las Vegas Sunday night when a 64-year-old gunman identified as Stephen Paddock opened fire on a music festival crowd from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, for minutes before killing himself.
