Arzumanyan: If Karabakh conflict escalates on Turkey’s initiative, Russia will fully support Armenian army

December 2, 2015 By administrator

f565f19d8cc570_565f19d8cc5ad.thumbRussia-Turkey stand-off poses a great risk not only to the relationship of those two countries, but also to the entire world, especially to Europe and Asia, the head of Armenian parliament’s standing committee on foreign relations , an MP of the faction of the ruling Republican party of Armenia (RPA) Artak Zakaryan said today during discussion at Media Center of Yerevan.

“What derivate effects can Russia-Turkey tensions have? I don’t believe that the derivative effects will impact directly and change the situation related to the Karabakh conflict. By ‘a change in the situation’, I mean a shift from the negotiations to military operations. There can be no changes of a different kind”, Zakaryan noted.

According to him, the situation may change in one case: if as a result of a military clash between Russia and Turkey, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, being aware of his last chance, will take advantage of the emerging situation and ‘tempt his fate and that of the Azerbaijani people”.

Even more problems will arise in the region under such circumstances, Zakaryan added.

MP of the opposition ‘Heritage’ faction, ex-Foreign Minister of Armenia Alexander Arzumanyan said for his part: “The Karabakh conflict settlement process is always in danger if the situation escalates on Russia’s initiative”.

“If the situation escalates on Turkey’s initiative, it means that Russia will fully support the army of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic. In other words, if it is Russia that provokes, then there is a danger, and  if Turkey attempts to escalate the situation, in this case solutions to the issues could be found much more rapidly,” Arzumanyan explained.

Putin ordered the 58th Russian Army Military District of the North Caucasus to be deployed in Armenia

December 2, 2015 By administrator

arton119380-480x320According to information circulating in the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) President Putin signed yesterday morning an order asking the 58th Army Military District of the North Caucasus to deploy immediately regiments “selected” and specialized brigades in military electronic warfare, air defense systems, multiple rocket launchers, anti-tank equipment and artillery forces at the Turkish-Armenian border, a total of nearly 7,000 Russian soldiers currently being state of complete fight.

According to this information, the legal authority for this massive combat deployment is due to the Russian-Armenian agreement on common air defense system signed by President Putin on November 11 and will be finalized this week by Prime Minister Medvedev.

With Armenia becoming an essential part of the Common Strategy of the Russian air defense, military forces of the Russian Federation will now be able to counter threats from Turkey says several anonymous sources.

It is important to note that during this military deployment of the Russian Federation in Armenia, these forces will be protected, like their counterparts operating in Syria, with S-400 (NATO designation SA-21 Growler) mobile systems missiles medium and long term Sol-Air and jamming platforms Krasukha-4 giving them total superiority of air defense on more than 85 per cent of Turkish territory.

Krasukha-4 is a mobile broadband equipment, mounted on the chassis 8 X 8 type BAZ-6910-022, which scrambles the surveillance radars military satellites, ground-based radars and airborne AWACS and those mounted on unmanned aircraft (drone).

The Krasukha-4 is the only system capable of blurring the American spy satellites family Lacrosse / Onyx. These satellites fly in low orbit and equipped with SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) that allows them to penetrate the layer of clouds and the ground or walls of buildings, with a resolution of 20 cm.

The 4-Krasukha equipment is being set up in Syria on the Russian air base Hmeymim (Governorate of Latakia) and creates an invisibility shield to the objects in the air and on the ground with a radius of 300 km. The Krasukha-4 is able to “blind” radars for detecting and guiding anti-aircraft missiles MIM-104 Patriot located on the Turkish border, and also radars Turkish fighter aircraft F-16C off from the Incirlik base and helping to establish a “no fly zone” over Syria.

Kremlin says NATO expansion to east will lead to retaliation from Russia

December 2, 2015 By administrator

f565ef0941dc4f_565ef0941dc89.thumbKremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday that the continuing expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation to the east would lead to retaliatory measures from Russia.

The NATO military alliance on Wednesday invited Montenegro to join its ranks.

Peskov added to journalists that the sanctions that Russia had imposed on Turkey over a downed Russian plane were different from the ones the West had imposed on Russia over the Ukraine crisis, since Russia’s sanctions on Turkey were preventative and concerned the threat of terrorism.

Erdogan Shot Himself in the Foot By Shooting Down the Russian Jet

December 2, 2015 By administrator

harut-sassounian-small2BY HARUT SASSOUNIAN

Leaders around the world have been pandering to Recep Tayyip Erdogan for years, trying to win him over to their side. They flattered the Turkish President so much that the lavish compliments went to his head. As the self-appointed Grand Sultan of the neo-Ottoman Empire, Erdogan started meddling in the internal affairs of neighboring countries, and jailing scores of his own citizens who dared to point out that the Sultan is naked!

The first leader to be duped by Erdogan was Syria’s President Bashar Al-Assad whose ill-considered honeymoon with Turkey turned into an endless nightmare, devastating his country. The next head of state to part ways with the Turkish dictator was President Al-Sisi of Egypt. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has still not fully learned his lesson, carrying on a baffling love-hate relationship with Turkey. Erdogan almost succeeded even in tricking Armenia’s leaders with the deceptive Armenia-Turkey Protocols. Ironically, Armenia’s interests were saved by none other than Erdogan’s junior partner, Pres. Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, who killed the deal with his persistent self-serving objections.

The latest world leader to discover Erdogan’s fiendish nature is Vladimir Putin, after losing a military jet and two Russian airmen to a Turkish attack under the guise that the plane had crossed Turkey’s airspace for 17 seconds!

Within days of this tragic incident, the Russian government took several retaliatory measures that would have a devastating effect on Turkey’s economy:

— Banned the import of Turkish products. Trade between the two countries amounts to a whopping $33 billion annually, making Russia Turkey’s second largest trading partner.

— Refused the entry of Turkish businessmen into Russia. Sixty of them were detained upon their arrival in Moscow last week and sent back to Turkey.

— Lifted the visa-free travel of Turkish citizens to Russia as of January 1.

— Forbade hiring new Turkish workers — currently 200,000 live with their families in Russia — and cancelled multi-billion dollar construction contracts with Turkish firms.

— Ordered Russian travel agencies not to send tourists to Turkey, depriving that country of billions of dollars in income. Since 4.5 million Russians visited Turkey last year, Russia is the second largest source of foreign tourists.

— Imposed higher customs duties on imports from and exports to Turkey.

— Under consideration is the cancellation of three major projects: 1) Selling natural gas to Turkey as Russia supplies over half of that country’s needs; 2) Building Turkey’s first nuclear power plant, worth over $22 billion; and 3) Constructing a multi-billion dollar natural gas pipeline from Russia to Turkey.

Pres. Putin has also taken several military steps since the downing of the Russian jet:

— Boosted the Russian military presence in Syria — on the ground, in the air, and off the Mediterranean coast.

— Bombed pro-Turkish terrorist groups in the region where the Russian jet was hit and two Russian airmen killed.

— Destroyed hundreds of Turkish trucks, some of which were transporting weapons to the rebels in Syria, and others carrying oil bought from ISIS and smuggled into Turkey.

Russia may take additional military measures against Turkey in the near future:

— Arming Kurdish militants in Iraq, Syria, and within Turkey.

— Shooting down Turkish planes and helicopters that cross Syria’s or Armenia’s airspace, in view of such incursions in the past.

On the diplomatic front:

— Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov cancelled his pre-planned trip to Turkey last week.

— Putin refused to take Erdogan’s phone calls and rejected his request for a meeting during their Paris visit.

— The Russian President called off the planned Summit Meeting with Erdogan in St. Petersburg on Dec. 15.

— The Russian Duma (Parliament) is considering a law that would criminalize denial of the Armenian Genocide: 300,000-500,000 Ruble penalty and three-year imprisonment.

— Some Russian politicians have even called for the liberation of Western Armenia from Turkish occupation and the establishment of free Kurdistan with its capital in Diyarbekir!

It appears that Pres. Putin will not easily back down after the treacherous Turkish attack on the Russian jet. He has no choice but to react harshly to show the world that he won’t allow anyone to attack Russians with impunity. Putin described the Turkish action as a “stab in the back from the accomplices of terrorists” and sternly warned of “severe consequences.”

Erdogan has finally bitten more than he can chew! He is foolishly confronting a nuclear power with a leader determined to go to great lengths to teach the arrogant Turkish President a lesson he will not soon forget.

If indeed Sultan Erdogan is counting on NATO to defend his reckless adventure, he is sadly mistaken. He cannot misrepresent the shooting down of a Russian jet as an attack on Turkey, and then seek protection by hiding under NATO’s skirts!

Regrettably, Turkey has become a major liability for NATO. The Turkish President’s irresponsible behavior over a minor incursion risks dragging all NATO members into a larger conflagration. NATO should seriously question the wisdom of harboring a terrorist state in its midst that can trigger yet again a grave international incident with far reaching consequences for the entire world!

Main Illegal Oil Transportation Routes Located on Turkey-Syria Border (Video)

December 2, 2015 By administrator

1031119860Russian Defense Ministry has presented photos of oil delivery convoys at Syria-Turkey border, the head of the Russian General Staff’s operative command said.

The general staff has irrefutable evidence on Turkey’s involvement in illegal oil trade. Moscow has called on Turkey to open access to the places where, according to the retrieved Russian intel, Daesh oil trade centers are located:

“If there is nothing there — then the territories in question should be inspected,” the Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov stressed.

“We have identified three main oil routes,” the head of the Russian General Staff’s operative command Sergei Rudskoy said.

The western route leads to the Turkish ports in the Mediterranean, the northern — to Patma oil refinery, and the eastern — to Cazri transfer point.

The ministry provided photographs of columns of oil fuel tankers on the Turkish-Syrian border. Fuel tankers with oil freely cross the border between Turkey and Iraq, according to Russia’s General Staff.

“Space recoinassance established that after crossing the border tanker trucks move further into Turkey,” Rudskoy said. Then the oil is being delivered to third countries.

The oil from Daesh-controlled areas in Syria is being shipped to third countries for processing after having been transported to Turkey, the head of the Russian General Staff’s operative command noted.

“According to the most modest estimates, the terrorists’ revenues from criminal [oil] business stood at no less than $3 million per day. After our airstrikes, the revenues went down to $1.5 million per day,” Lt. Gen. Sergei Rudskoy told reporters.

1031116340Russian Defense Ministry’s information on Daesh oil trucks in Syria will be made publicly available online.

On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow has evidence that its Su-24 was shot down by Turkish forces on the Syrian border in order to protect oil deliveries from Daesh to Turkey, and that oil from Daesh-controlled fields is being exported to Turkey on an industrial scale.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan vehemently denied the allegations, vowing that if evidence does surface, he will resign from the presidency.

Russian MoD to Reveal New Data on International Fight Against Terrorism

December 1, 2015 By administrator

1031029647Russia’s Defense Ministry has announced it will unveil “new data,” previously unknown to the public, pertaining to “The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the fight against international terrorism.”

Though details of the media briefing, set for Wednesday at 3:00 PM Moscow time, have not been made public, many believe revelations might include evidence of Turkey’s involvement in the illegal sale of oil by Daesh, also known as ISIL/the Islamic State terror group.

Russia adding More and More S-400 Air Defense Systems

December 1, 2015 By administrator

1016764632Syria: The Russian military will receive five new regimental units of S-400 Triumf anti-aircraft missile systems in 2016, according to arms manufacturer Almaz-Antey.

“Thanks to the efficient work of our employees, we are completing most of our government contracts ahead of schedule. According to our plans for 2016, the company will provide Russia’s Ministry of Defense with five regimental units of S-400 surface-to-air missile systems,” the Almaz-Antey press service read, as cited by RIA Novosti.

In 2015 the company already supplied three S-400 regiments to the Russian Armed Forces

The press service also noted that all new S-400 units were successfully tested by the military during live fire exercises in hostile weather conditions and with simulated enemy actively using electronic countermeasures, RIA Novosti adds.

In 2015 the Russian military also received three divisions of Buk-M2 medium-range surface-to-air missile systems.

The S-400 Triumpf (NATO reporting name: SA-21 Growler) medium and long-range anti-aircraft missile system was designed to engage and destroy all existing and future aerial and space attacks, from spy planes to tactical and strategic bombers to ballistic missiles. It employs three different missiles to cover its entire performance envelope.

Is Turkey Waging War on Russia in Crimea, the Caucasus, and Central Asia?

December 1, 2015 By administrator

1031061957What is taking place today is a battle for global dominance, waged by major Western geopolitical players, and what is at stake here is the future of our planet, an anonymous US analyst who goes by the name ‘The Saker’ told Sputnik; as for Daesh, it is simply a weapon, he adds.

During the Paris Climate Change Conference (COP21), Russian President Putin revealed that Moscow has evidence confirming that the Russian Su-24 bomber was shot down by Turkey in order to protect oil deliveries from Daesh (ISIL/ISIS), adding that oil from Daesh-occupied fields has been transferred to Turkey on an industrial scale.

But is it possible that Turkey is selling the stolen oil without Washington’s knowledge? Are the Turkish officials who are responsible for oil smuggling acting alone or are they backed by some influential oil market players?

“US intelligence agencies suffer from many weaknesses, but being unable to track money movements is not one of them,” The Saker, an anonymous top level American military analyst, told Sputnik in an exclusive interview.

“Furthermore, both the USA and Israel have an extensive network for agents in Turkey.  I thus consider it extremely unlikely that anybody in Turkey would be able to move around large sums of money without the US being fully aware of that.  Also, consider that Daesh is a top-priority target for US intelligence agencies and that their immense data collection capabilities are also focused on the Daesh side of the equation,” he emphasized.

“Finally,” The Saker added, “the illegal sale of oil is a minor element in a much more important battle between the USA and the Russia-Iran-Syria alliance and, thus, the US would never allow it to interfere with its bigger objectives.”

The analyst underscored that corruption has long been an integral part of the US “imperial” system.

“Corruption being one key feature of the US Empire, it is normal for the US deep state to allow its local puppets to engage in profitable war profiteering, but only as long as this does not interfere with the global US strategy,” he stressed.

Experts call attention to the fact that the shooting down of the Su-24 could have been Turkish President Erdogan’s “act of revenge,” given the fact that his family has reportedly been involved in Daesh’s oil smuggling business. In his recent interview with Radio Sputnik, Middle East analyst Stanislav Tarasov noted that “Erdogan’s family is directly involved in the incident,” and suggested that “we could soon learn that President Erdogan himself is directly linked to ISIL.”

But was the downing of the Su-24 bomber by the Turkish F-16 fighter a “lone wolf” operation or a preplanned action coordinated by NATO and Washington? If so, what goal does NATO/Washington have in mind?

“The downing of the SU-24 was definitely a major and carefully planned ambush operation which involved a large number of Turkish F-16 [being] constantly held on airborne alert positions.  The notion that the Americans did not know about this all along is ridiculous,” The Saker elaborated.

“Make no mistake, this was an act of war by the USA and NATO, but executed in such a manner as to provide the real culprits some degree of plausible deniability.  The hope was to have Russia over-react and trigger a direct confrontation which could be them blamed on Russia.  You have to keep in mind that the Russian force in Syria is a very small one and that it is vulnerable.  Even with 60+ combat aircraft and S-400s, the Russian force is much smaller than the Turkish air force, which has well over 200 F-16s.  The USA is now using this vulnerability to provoke Russia,” the analyst told Sputnik.

The Saker noted that the Turks themselves had violated the Syrian and, especially, Greek airspace hundreds of times “and not just once for 17 seconds.” In the wake of the incident, Ankara suggested that the alleged intrusion of the Russian Su-24 into Turkish airspace had lasted a mere 17 seconds.

“The very fact that they actually used this “17 seconds” excuse it by itself is a clear provocation, designed to humiliate Russian and trigger an over-reaction.  Thank God Putin and the Kremlin did not take this bait,” The Saker underscored.

Interestingly enough, the incident in Syrian airspace had been preceded by an act of sabotage in Ukraine: on November 20, unidentified saboteurs blew up the main power lines in Ukraine leading into Crimea; Crimean Tatar activists blocked access to fallen lines. Given the close ties between Ankara and Crimean Tatars (Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu is reportedly of Crimean Tatar descent himself), the question arises, whether the two action were connected in any way?

“I have no information showing any links, but what is clear is that Turkey is waging its own mini-war of influence against Russia, not only in Crimea, but also in the Caucasus and Central Asia,” The Saker told Sputnik, commenting on the issue.

“The Turkish ‘deep state’ appears to be ruled by a revanchist imperial ideology every bit as lunatic and dangerous as the Wahhabi ideology of Daesh & Co.  Erdogan apparently wants to re-establish some kind of Grand Ottoman Empire v2 and for him Russia is the biggest obstacle. This is why Turkey is so precious for the USA — it is run by delusional maniacs every bit as dangerous as the Nazis in Kiev or the Wahhabi freaks of Daesh. This is what Russia is confronted by today — a war by the Anglo-Zionist Empire waged by means of various hate-filled regional powers which are used by the USA to destabilize Russia and her allies,” the analyst underscored.

Remarkably, in 2001, then-modest academic Dr. Ahmet Davutoglu published a book entitled “Strategic Depth.” In his book, Davutoglu suggested that Turkey possesses a unique “strategic depth” due to its historical and geographical position. The would-be Turkish prime minister argued that Turkey should simultaneously exercise its influence in the Middle East, the Balkan region, the Caucasus, and Central Asia as well in the Caspian, Mediterranean and Black Sea zones. According to Davutoglu, Turkey should re-establish its role as a global player, not just a regional power. In some sense, Davotoglu viewed the collapse of the Soviet Union as a historic chance for Turkey to expand its influence in the Caucasus region and Central Asia.

And here enters Daesh…

Given the fact that ISIL has been created and fuelled by a number of states and private donors, which geopolitical players are resisting Russia’s attempts to eradicate terrorism in the region and preserve the sovereignty of Syria? Is Russia confronting a bunch of terrorists fed by Saudi and Qatari sheikhs or some well-organized multi-national organizations?

“As for Daesh, it is simply one ‘weapon’ used by the [US] Empire to destroy its opponents.  There is no such thing as ‘terrorism’ by itself, it is always a weapon used by one (or several) state actors,” The Saker explained.

“The sheikhs you mention are just pawns in the hands of the ‘deep state’ which runs the US Anglo-Zionist ‘Empire’ and they themselves only have a local influence.  Thus, the Saudis or the Qatari are major players in Syria, but already at the Middle-Eastern level they are far less powerful than, say, the Turks or the Israelis.  And while they can act as ‘private donors’ and sponsors of this or that faction of Daesh/al-Qaeda, they can only do that as long as the Americans tolerate that.  One could say that the local sheikhs are influential or even powerful puppets, but they still remain fundamentally puppets,” the US military analyst told Sputnik.

However, he claims, this is only the tip of the iceberg; the situation in general is far more serious.

“What is taking place today is a world war between, on one hand, the so-called ‘West’ (the US Empire) and what I call the ‘Resistance’ i.e., Russia, China, the BRICS, the SCO countries, Latin America, etc.  What is at stake here is the future of our planet: it will either be ruled by a single world Hegemon or it will be organized as a multi-polar world.  The events in the Middle East are just one ‘front’ in this worldwide war, and the war in Syria just one “battle” in the Middle Eastern ‘front’,” The Saker concluded.

Russian Su-34 bombers, additionally equipped with air-to-air missiles, have set out on their first mission in Syria, said Igor Klimov, spokesman for the Russian Air Force.

“Today, Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers have made their first sortie equipped not only with high explosive aviation bombs and hollow charge bombs, but also with short- and medium-range air-to-air missiles,” Klimov said.

“The planes are equipped with missiles for defensive purposes,” he added.

The missiles have target-seeking devices and are “capable of hitting air targets within a 60km radius,” he said.

Turkish F-16s shot down a Russian Su-24 bomber operating in Syria on November 24, with Ankara claiming that the warplane had violated Turkish airspace. Moscow has rejected the claims, saying that according to its military intelligence the Su-24 never left Syrian airspace.

On Monday, Turkey’s prime minister said that Ankara will not apologize for the incident.

“No Turkish prime minister or president will apologize … for doing our duty,” Ahmet Davutoglu told reporters after meeting NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels.

In the wake of the downing, President Vladimir Putin on Saturday signed a decree imposing a package of economic sanctions against Turkey. The measures include banning several Turkish organizations and the import of certain goods. Under the sanctions, the visa-free regime for Turkish nationals traveling to Russia will be suspended starting next year. The Russian government has also been tasked with introducing a ban on charter flights between Russia and Turkey and to enhance security control at Russian ports on the Sea of Azov and Black Sea.

Russia has been conducting airstrikes targeting Islamic State militants (IS, former ISIS, ISIL) and other terrorist groups in Syria since September 30. The strikes were launched after a formal request from Damascus. Russian jets have been carrying out sorties from Moscow’s Khmeimim Air Base in Latakia.

On Thursday, Moscow recalled its military representative from Turkey. At the same time Russian Defense Ministry said that all channels of military cooperation with Ankara were suspended including a hotline set up to share information about Russian airstrikes in Syria.

Trucks carrying Turkish exports blocked at Russian border: Association

November 30, 2015 By administrator

DHA file photo

ISTANBUL – Reuters,

Around 1,250 trucks carrying Turkish exports have been blocked from entering Russia and are stranded at border posts awaiting clearance, a senior shipping industry representative told Reuters on Nov. 30.

Six days after NATO-member Turkey shot down a Russian fighter jet in the first known incident of its kind since the Cold War, calls for calm have gone largely unheeded. Ankara refuses to back down and Russia responds with sanctions.

“Russia has not given permission to Turkish trucks for entry or transit passage for the past four days,” Fatih Şener, managing director of Turkey’s International Shippers Association (UND) said in an interview.

“Apart from the trucks waiting at the border posts, it doesn’t allow those that have entered the country but waiting to discharge their load at the customs. This is the case for Romanian, Bulgarian, Kazakh and Moldovan trucks carrying Turkish goods,” he said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said he is waiting for an apology over the downing of an Su-24 warplane along the Turkish-Syrian border, and approved a round of economic sanctions against Ankara.

Trucks are stranded in Ukraine and Georgia for checks, which Şener says now are more thorough than before and that the economic cost of the delay since last week is around $50,000 to $60,000. Furthermore, a total of 800 containers are also waiting for clearance in the Turkish Black Sea port of Samsun and at the Russian port of Novorossiysk.

Around 100 trucks awaiting transit passage at the Russian border are now seeking alternative routes. “Azerbaijan has allowed entry and these trucks will go to Central Asia through this route, which is much more costly,” he said.

Turkey mainly sells food, agricultural products and textiles to Moscow and is also one of the most popular holiday destinations for Russians. Around 50 percent of Turkey’s exports into Russia, which totaled $6 billion last year, go by land.
