Terrorist State of Turkey issues warrant for Kurdish PYD leader Salih Muslim over Ankara bombing

November 22, 2016 By administrator

arrest-warningANKARA, Turkey – Turkey has issued an arrest warrant for Salih Muslim, co-leader of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), for alleged connections to an Ankara bombing last year which killed 28 people.

The state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Tuesday that arrest warrants had been issued for Muslim and 47 others, including some top leaders of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), including Murat Karayilan and Cemil Bayik, both founding members of the group.
Turkey regards PYD as the Syrian wing of the PKK.
February’s bombing targeted military busses during the evening rush hour. The PYD denied involvement after it was accused of the bombing following the attack.

Just days after the attack, another Kurdish group,  the Kurdistan Freedom Hawks (TAK) claimed responsibility, saying it carried out the attack to show its opposition to policies of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The perpetrator, according to TAK, was a 26-year-old Turkish national from the eastern Turkish city of Van.

The then Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, however, named the Ankara bomber as Salih Necar, a Syrian national and member of the Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), the military wing of the PYD.

Turkish Dictator accuses U.S. of creating “pool of blood” with policy on PYD Kurds

February 10, 2016 By administrator

205762Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday, February 10 accused the United States of creating a “pool of blood” in the region by failing to recognize the main Syrian Kurdish organizations as terror groups, AFP reports.

“Hey America… As you have never recognized them (as terror groups) the region has turned into a pool of blood,” Erdogan said in a lacerating attack on US policy, referring to the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) and its People’s Protection Units (YPG) militia.

His remarks escalated a growing row between Washington and key NATO member Turkey over the role of Kurdish fighters in the struggle against jihadists in Syria.

Turkey on Tuesday summoned the US envoy to Ankara in protest after the US State Department spokesman said that Washington did not recognise the PYD as a terror group and would continue to support its operations in Syria.

“Hey America! How many times have we had to tell you?” Erdogan said in his fiery address. “Are you together with us or are you with the PYD and YPG terror groups?”

“Is there a difference between the PKK and the PYD? Is there a difference with the YPG?” asked Erdogan, according to AFP.

“We have written proof! We tell the Americans “it’s a terror group”. But the Americans stand up and say ‘no we don’t see them as terror groups’.”

Syrian Kurdish PYD leader Muslim to meet US officials in Washington, disturb Ankara

November 28, 2014 By administrator

198196_newsdetailSalih Muslim, the head of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) — the main Kurdish group in Syria — will soon meet with US officials in Washington, D.C., Today’s Zaman has learned.

Muslim’s high-level meetings in the US capital will disturb Ankara because Turkey considers the PYD to be an offshoot of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

That Muslim will meet with top US officials is another visible sign of the deepening fault lines between Turkey and the US. The US airdropped weapons, ammunition and other aid in late October to support the PYD, which had been putting up a strong fight against the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in the Syrian town of Kobani. Turkey expressed its displeasure about the airdropped assistance; the PYD maintains links with the PKK, which is classified as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the European Union.

The US has been pushing Turkey to contribute more to the coalition against the terrorist threat of ISIL. With the Kurdish PYD forces in Kobani proving themselves to be one of the groups showing the strongest resistance against the ISIL advance over the past few months, the US has pushed Turkey to help armed Kurdish groups in Syria — but to no avail.

According to Kurdish PYD many Turkish police officers from elite units are said to be fighting with the terrorist group ISIL.

Report TODAYSZAMAN

Officials from the Syrian pro-Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) have claimed that Turkey ignores illegal border crossings conducted by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant 188120_newsdetail(ISIL) in order to attack Syria’s Kurdish-populated Rojava region.

According to Turkish media reports, Abdulsalam Ahmad — co-chairman of the PYD-led People’s Council of Western Kurdistan (PCWK) — has claimed that not only some villages in Rojava but also some Turkish villages close to the Turkey-Syria border are under ISIL’s sway and are used for medical treatment for the group’s militants who attack Rojava.

The clashes with Kurdish groups have increased since ISIL — which now calls itself the Islamic State — seized territories straddling Syria and neighboring Iraq and declared a self-styled Islamic caliphate. Most of the land was seized in June during a push across Iraq.

The PYD executive council member Bashira Darwis said in remarks to media outlets that there are many groups fighting with ISIL against Kurdish militants in Syria and that Turkey ignores the fact that these groups illegally cross through Turkish territory.

He noted that many ISIL members killed in Rojava had Turkish identity cards and further claimed that they are professional fighters with military training. Darwish also said there are fighters from the UK, Germany and many other countries.

In remarks to the Taraf daily, Darwis said that ISIL and other similar groups kill children, the elderly and the unarmed, rather than only combatants. “This is a strategic massacre. The main aim of those groups is to fight against Kurdish people, since none of them are fighting against the [Assad] regime,” she said, adding that many Kurdish people have been forced to flee.

In addition to the claims that Turkey supports ISIL by providing medical treatment to fighters, many police officers from elite units are said to be fighting with the terrorist group.

In addition, some Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) members and sympathizers in Turkey are reported to have crossed into Syria to join the People’s Protection Units (YPG) — a Kurdish militia based in Syria — to support the YPG against ISIL, the Cihan news agency reported on Sunday.

According to the report, when ISIL insurgents attacked the Kurdish-populated Syrian town of Ain al-Arab — known as Kobani in Kurdish and strategically located on the border with Turkey — with heavy weaponry last week, PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan and PKK operatives in the Kandil Mountains in northern Iraq called on Kurds to join the YPG.
