Armenian MP: NATO PA seminar was held amid anti-Armenian hysteria of Azerbaijani delegates

June 20, 2014 By administrator

June 20, 2014 | 17:16

YEREVAN. – Armenian delegate said participation in NATO PA seminar was very important for Armenia.

215506Unless Armenian delegates participated, Azerbaijanis would use an opportunity to distort the truth about regional realities, Koryun Nahapetyan said.

The head of Armenian delegation to NATO PA Koryun Nahapetyan, MP Tevan Poghosyan and analyst Richard Giragosian participated in Rose-Roth seminar that was held in Baku on June 16-18.

Nayapetyan said Armenia attaches importance to cooperation with NATO, but it would be better not to hold PA meetings in a country with lack of democracy.

“It is very difficult to participate in Baku-hosted events, since Azerbaijani side is using every chance to present Armenia as an aggressor. We could not hold dialogue with them, Azerbaijan is definitely not ready for a dialogue,” the MP added.

As to the atmosphere during the seminar, Nahapetyan noted that the seminar was held amid anti-Armenian hysteria of Azerbaijani participants.

“We not only resisted the pressure, but also presented our position. They turned  dialogue into a tense debate, and our attempt to be engaged in a constructive dialogue failed. Other participants acted as observers and did not join the discussions between Armenian and Azerbaijani delegates,” Nahapetyan added.

delegationArmenian to NATO raises problem of Turkey’s involvement in Kessab events

June 9, 2014 By administrator

Armenia’s parliamentary delegation, which participated in a meeting of the Political Committee of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, May 30 to June 1, Turkey Kessabraised the issue of Kessab.

Specifically, the Armenian MPs stated that Turkey, which is a NATO member, not only allowed gunmen to enter Kessab through its territory, but also provided financial aid to them.

“The Turkish representative reacted at once, saying that Turkey’s government had nothing in common with Syria developments and did not sponsor any insurgent groups, which is untrue. Numerous facts prove this [Turkey’s involvement]. Our delegation requested that NATO think of the necessary measures to prevent its member-states from resorting to such steps,” Head of the Armenian delegation Koryun Nahapetyan told reporters on Monday.

Unfortunately, the NATO Parliamentary Assembly did not respond to the Armenian delegation’s request.

Armenian delegation member, Heritage parliamentary group member Tevan Poghosyan said that the 28 NATO member-states share a common feature – not offending partners.

“Unfortunately, it is not the case in the Collective Security Treaty Organization. So we should not expect any of the NATO members to wag their finger at Turkey,” he said.

However, raising the problem was important.

NATO’s new Cold War runs into trouble in Germany

Side Effects of Propaganda

0502_CGPostEdward Bernays once famously promoted the “conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses” through the use of propaganda, which he considered an “important element in democratic society”.[1] Today’s so-called “liberal democracies” are testament to Bernays’ assertion. The “father of public relations” demonstrated early on that propaganda can be used for many different purposes, from selling cars to selling wars. Especially the latter has become the primary task of media in the United States and other NATO countries in recent years. With Iraq still burning, Western media played a decisive role in turning Libya and Syria into failed states as well. The propaganda was never particularly sophisticated. After “Saddam has weapons of mass destruction” came “Gaddafi is killing his own people” and eventually “Assad is like Hitler”. But mainstream media reporting got even worse during the Ukraine crisis and this could have unforeseen consequences for those in power.

In Ukraine bloodthirsty neo-Nazis became peaceful protesters, pro-Russian protesters became FSB agents and black became white. Anti-Russian propaganda is all-pervasive and the Western media narrative about events in Ukraine is more often than not diametrically opposed to the facts on the ground. NATO has been doing its best to provoke a new Cold War and the Obama administration, apparently believing its own spin, wants to pursue “an updated version of the Cold War strategy of containment” towards Russia.[2] This begs the question of what this is all about. Why is Washington determined to take on Russia?

As Pepe Escobar recently pointed out, the proposal of Russian President Vladimir Putin to German business and industry in late 2010 is the key to understanding the new Cold War.[3] In November 2010, Putin presented his vision of an economic community from Lisbon to Vladivostok in an editorial contribution to the German daily Süddeutsche Zeitung, in which he made the case for closer cooperation between the European Union and Russia culminating in “a unified continental market with a capacity worth trillions of euros”. Although the Russian President stressed that his proposal was not aimed at diminishing ties between the EU and its “traditional partners”,[4] Putin’s plan did not go down well with Washington. The United States has always tried to sabotage this kind of cooperation on the continent in favor of strong transatlantic ties in order to preserve its primacy in Eurasia. Up until now, this has worked to some extent but especially Russia’s dominant role in the European energy sector continues to be a thorn in Washington’s side. This issue became again the focus of attention during the Ukraine crisis. When U.S. President Barack Obama met with EU leaders in Brussels a few weeks ago to promote the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), he seized the opportunity to call once more for reducing Europe’s dependence on Russian gas.[5] But American efforts to impede trade and cooperation between the EU and the Russian Federation stand and fall with one European country, which has a very complex relationship with Russia: Germany.

Russian President Putin addressed German business and industry in November 2010 for a reason. The two countries have close economic ties, not only in the energy sector. About 6000 German companies operate in Russia with investments totaling 20 billion euros.[6] Therefore, representatives of the German economy were quick to oppose any serious sanctions against Russia.[7] This stance is supported by the overwhelming majority of Germans.[8] Nevertheless, even 25 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Germany is not a sovereign country and Washington’s fifth column wields massive influence, especially over German politics and media.[9] This has created an interesting situation, where an immense amount of propaganda is used to justify the actions of the Merkel-led government and its NATO allies in Ukraine and the new Cold War against Russia.

When the current CEO of Siemens AG, Joe Kaeser, followed through on a long-planned trip to Moscow in late March to discuss Siemens’ business in Russia with President Putin, he faced harsh criticism from the German government and media.[10] After his return, Kaeser was interviewed by Claus Kleber, host of a well-known news program and one of the foremost NATO propagandists on German television. Kleber tried desperately to portray the Siemens CEO as a traitor to his country thereby making a complete fool of himself.[11] Shortly thereafter, German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble did the same when he compared “Putin’s annexation of Crimea” with Hitler’s land grab of the Sudetenland.[12] Both the government in Berlin as well as the German media did their best to demonize President Putin and Russia in order to drive a wedge between Germans and Russians.

In case anybody had not gotten the message at this point, Polish American journalist Anne Applebaum spelled it out in Die Welt, the intellectual flagship of the Axel Springer SE: “Germans, you have to relearn deterrence” because “talking with Russia is not enough”.[13] The Axel Springer SE is a vital part of Washington’s fifth column in Germany and publishes similar anti-Russian propaganda on a daily basis. Applebaum is married to Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, who was one of the signatories to the short-lived February 21 agreement. Both have worked at the neoconservative American Enterprise Institute and are among the strongest NATO advocates in Europe. Since Applebaum had already emphasized the importance of the information war in an earlier Telegraph article, in which she argued for a robust campaign “to counter Moscow’s lies”,[14] her inflammatory piece in Die Welt is not surprising at all. The anti-Russian propaganda campaign in Germany has now reached a point, where the well-respected Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung is publishing articles blaming Russia for the creation of al-Qaeda.[15]

Germans have put up with a lot of blatant lies and propaganda over the years but the reporting during the Ukraine crisis was the last straw. Never before in the history of the Federal Republic of Germany have such large segments of the population refused to buy the official narrative. The mainstream media has become the target of harsh criticism on a scale never seen before and this is very disturbing for the propagandists [emphasis mine]:

“In my 30 years of experience with debates, I have never seen anything like what is now happening in Germany in the dispute over Russia and Crimea. There have been issues that have deeply divided the nation, such as nuclear energy. And there have been those that have prompted millions to take to the streets over the years, such as the military buildup of NATO. Four years ago, there was even a discussion that saw – like now – a sharp confrontation between published and public opinions: the controversy surrounding Thilo Sarrazin’s comments on the impact of Muslim immigrants on German society. But in hindsight, measured against the current debate on Russia, the Sarrazin dustup seems easy to explain and understand.

Unless surveys are misleading, two-thirds of German citizens, voters and readers stand opposed to four-fifths of the political class – in other words, to the government, to the overwhelming majority of members of parliament and to most newspapers and broadcasters. But what does “stand” mean? Many are downright up in arms. And from what one can gauge from letters to the editor, the share of critics seems significantly higher now than what was triggered by Sarrazin’s inflammatory book back then.”[16]

Instead of addressing the valid criticism, editors and journalists blamed spreading anti-Americanism and conspiracy theories for the numerous critical letters and emails they have been receiving.

The German people vent their anger about the political class in various different ways. While some German citizens wrote a letter to Russian President Putin distancing themselves from anti-Russian sentiment in politics and media,[17] over 20.000 people signed a petition asking Russia Today to start broadcasting in German.[18] Furthermore, the famous Monday demonstrations, which came to prominence in East Germany in 1989, were revived in recent weeks and thousands have taken to the streets in several cities to call for peace. The people protest against the mainstream media, NATO aggression, the military industrial complex, the U.S. Federal Reserve, TTIP and many other things.[19] Predictably, Washington’s collaborators in Berlin are terrified and the media lost no time in discrediting the grassroots movement. According to German mainstream media, conspiracy theories, anti-Americanism, anti-Semitism and neo-Nazism are the driving forces behind the movement and therefore nobody should join the protests. So far, this transparent strategy has always worked for the German establishment but with the credibility of the mainstream media at an all-time low due to the catastrophic reporting during the Ukraine crisis, the ruling elite will sooner or later have to pay the price for all the lies and propaganda.

Putin reveals NATO chief secretly recorded their talk, leaked it to media

April 17, 2014 By administrator

Vladimir Putin says that current NATO General Secretary Anders Fogh Rasmussen secretly recorded and leaked a private conversation with him, when he was the head of the Danish government.

Putin-and-NATO“During his time as Prime Minister he once requested an unscheduled meeting with me, and we met and talked. As it turned out, he had a voice recorder on him, and surreptitiously recorded our conversation, and leaked it to the press,” the Russian president recounted during his annual TV hotline.

“I couldn’t believe my ears and eyes – what nonsense!”

The Russian president didn’t specify when the meeting took place, but Rasmussen was his country’s Prime Minister between 2001 and 2009.

“He explained to me that he recorded the conversation for posterity. I am flattered, of course, but he should have warned me, or at least asked permission to make the content public,” continued Putin.

“How can you trust someone after an incident like that?”

Putin spoke about the leak when questioned on the relationship between Russia and NATO, frayed after a succession of contretemps, climaxing with the crisis in Ukraine.

“From interpersonal to official relations, there should be more transparency, stability, and partnership,” summed up the Russian leader.

Rasmussen’s current office in Brussels, which he has occupied for the past five years, produced a swift response.

NATO Spokesperson Oana Lungescu told RT in an emailed comment that “These accusations are complete nonsense. During his term in office as Danish Prime Minister, Mr Fogh Rasmussen never brought a dictaphone to record meetings with Mr Putin or anybody else.”

Supported by NATO, a second Turkish Genocide against Armenians held in Syria

April 7, 2014 By administrator

USA Armenian Life No 1410

In an article on March 31 titled “Armenians are awakening to the truth: Turkey and NATO are behind the ethnic cleansing in Latakia and Kessab” Christof nsnbc.com Lehman wrote that “Turkey has regularly facilitated the arton98788-480x270entry terrorist groups in the region Kessab Syrian province of Latakia. A member of the Armenian parliament who visited Syria made a call to the world to become aware of the fact that thousands of extremists have crossed the Turkish-Syrian border and that missiles were fired on the Turkish side of the border. Armenians, who have long considered NATO as an ally and partner realize that the war in Syria, the new ethnic cleansing of Armenian Christians in Syria including part of a long-term strategy of NATO. ”

Mr. Lehman also reported: “The Turkish Parliament Mehmet Ali Ediboglu, visited the border post Yayladagi after severe clashes that occurred in the region on March 21. Ediboglu stated that the Turkish army authorizes and controls the movement of insurgents who come and go across the border with Syria in both directions. After a Turkish F-16s have shot down a Syrian fighter over Kessab last week nsnbc.com spoke with an eyewitness to Kessab, who reported the presence of the Turkish special forces on Syrian territory in cooperation with terrorist brigades supported by the Turks. ”

Residents in Kessab call all Armenians and all humanity to realize that the Erdogan government is behind the military campaign, ethnic cleansing and massacres. Armenian parliamentary Arman Sahakian and residents Kessab call upon the UN and the governments of other countries to take measures to protect the population of the province of Latakia before it is too late.

In an emotional message transmitted by the Armenian Parliament, the people of Kessab made the call: “All we want is to live. If you do nothing, the terrorists will get us all suffer a horrible death, they will kill us in cold blood like many other Armenians in Aleppo, Yaakoubiyeh, Ghnaymiyeh and throughout Syria. Those you call … “rebels” are extremists from engaging in jihad with Syria among them many nationalities such as Afghans, Chechens, Saudis, etc.. The people of Kessab and throughout Syria have seen and have been attacked and killed by them. The media can not hide the truth forever. We can not play forever with people’s lives. Those you call “rebels” took targeting civilians and attacked. Wake up please. ”

Mr. Lehman said: “The Armenians, who have long regarded as a NATO ally and partner, realize the harsh reality that influential member states of NATO, including Turkey, the USA, the United Kingdom and France, are responsible for having designed this war in Syria, planned long before the first signs of 2011 … The city of Kessab is now in the hands of foreign fighters. The Syrian Arab Army launched a military campaign to dislodge the mercenaries, which is complicated by the presence of Turkish F-16 fighters over the area and the Turkish special forces fighting alongside foreign fighters and leading their artillery, missiles and tanks against the positions of the Syrian army. ”

He concluded: “The U.S. State Department said he was worried about the population of Kessab Latakia in Syria and everywhere where people suffer from violence. At the same time, the U.S. supply-air missiles and anti-tank insurgents and holds a common structure with intelligence and command squads of mercenaries. ”

“I want the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar as totally responsible for atrocities against Christians and Armenians in Syria, because they are the ones that cause, arm and support the so-called ‘rebels’. The civilized world must reject the killers acting under the guise of regime change to impose their radical power in Syria. The Syrian people deserve a democratic government; I fear, however, that the foreign fighters who have infiltrated Syria are much more barbarous than the Assad regime. I think that regime change should result in peaceful negotiations, not by beheadings and suicide bombings “Harut Sassounian said today, publisher of the California Courier in a written statement published in a Turkish newspaper.

Far from repenting for the Armenian Genocide, Turkey, under the leadership of Prime Minister Erdogan, takes more time to target Armenians, once again causing their death and displacement wrote frontpagemag.com.

“Armenians must once again go into exile because of the Turkish government, like their ancestors who fled the Armenian Genocide there for decades. No mention was made on the BBC support that NATO openly of Al-Qaeda groups. The attack took place in the wake of mass protests against Prime Minister Erdogan, who recently banned Twitter, wrote Mimi Al Laham Land Destroyer Report.

“The Armenian Christians fleeing again aggression Turkey and the silence of Western, quick to denounce the violations of international law by the Russian Federation, is not surprising. Certainly, the NATO member Turkey is allowed to occupy Northern Cyprus, hunting Orthodox Christians and settle on the conquered lands; to enter into northern Iraq to attack the Kurds when it suits the elites in Ankara; Turkey and NATO is authorized to be a basis for international jihadists and an area for supplying arms to terrorists, cult members and mercenaries fighting against the Syrian government. Recently undertaken by Turkey in the ethnic cleansing of Christian Armenians in northern Syria appears as a long continuation of past misdeeds, “recently wrote Ramazan Khalidov and Lee Jay Walker Modern Tokyo Times.

Towards the end of 2012, when the foreign ministers of NATO gave their green light for the deployment of Patriot surface to air missiles in Turkey under the pretext of “protecting against spillage of civil war in Syria neighbor “, they probably knew that the invasion of Kessab Turkey was imminent – awaiting only the right time. There is no doubt that Turkey is inseparable from the pure and simple conspiracy against Syria. Missiles were transported latest technology in Turkey, on the border with Syria. There would also be some reports on coordination of rebel organizations who fought the Syrian government and from Turkey and other countries in the region “has recently emphasized Abayomi Azikiwe, editor of Pan-African Newswire.

From NATO, which joined Turkey in the early 1950s, this is a deliberate policy. USA, who founded NATO and coordinating its activities widely, lobbied all members [NATO] to adopt a hostile attitude against Syria. If opposed to the war forces had not manifested to his international community, war against Syria would have gone much further, said Azikiwe.

According to information published in www.lragir.am March 29, Turkey paid 5,000 dollars for every Armenian killed in Syria. An Armenian survivor of Syria said: “Turkey conducts Aleppo everything that contributes to a second genocide. One day I went to Aleppo, accompanied by another person, in order to look for food and fuel. We were warned that it had to do with self identity documents of Christian Arabs and Muslim Arabs. We found a Christian Arab who looked vaguely, and I took her identity. Our car was stopped and checked several times by the rebels on the road to villages around Aleppo. They asked me if there were soldiers in the vehicle or the Armenians. We of course said there was none. As they asked us several times we asked them why. One of the rebels said that Turkey had promised to pay 1000 dollars for every soldier of the Syrian army killed and 5,000 dollars for each shot Armenia “.

This survivor Armenian Syria continued: “Armenian district is being targeted by snipers … The rebels seek Armenian districts. That maintaining hope is the fact that the Armenians remained united regardless of their affiliation to face these difficult times. Armenians abroad send money and food … Half of Aleppo Armenians fled the country … hoping to return when all this is over. Most of them prefer to stay, considering themselves at home in Syria, and will not abandon their homes no matter what. ”

Dissatisfied with the results obtained by the undisclosed policy of Turkey to sow death and destruction in Syria, NATO and its allies, especially Turkey, released their “projects” for the Syrian people in general, and more recently Specifically, for the Armenians of Syria.

It is now a fact that Kessab, one of the last medieval Armenian cities of the Mediterranean, is illegally occupied by Turkish agents in Syria.

Whatever denials Ankara, those of the first Ottoman Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan and his whimsical Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, evidence abounds. We are no longer in the years 1915-1923. There are now a variety of means of communication and electronic documentation. The Erdogan government has de facto subjected Turkey to a recent wave of civil lawsuits arising from acts of violence and crimes against humanity committed by terrorists came from a Turkish border.

Through unity of Armenians in Syria, thanks to their self-defense squads and their neighborhood well organized districts of Aleppo – Nor Kyugh (in Armenian, New Village), Suleymanié, Vilaner Sheik Taha and where they lived alongside Arab and Muslims as Christians, are still protected from the intrusion of foreign terrorists making the area a modern arena for the success of the Pan-Arab Nationalism Syrian.

From what we know about what happens to Kessab, however, no self-defense mechanism was established there. Nobody is informed. Some observers believe that the leaders of Syria and Kessab might think that the Armenian city could be an exception. Why do they think that? Armenians and other Syrians Kessab could serve as an example for Arab nationalist districts Syrian invincible other districts.

Many Armenian activists think in a sense, the debacle and disaster Kessab awakened minds of Armenians in the world and the U.S. in particular. With the power of Prime Minister Erdogan attracted by the Muslim Brotherhood, the invasion by proxy Kessab has already angered a large fraction of the international community.

It should be noted that while most Americans expressed strongly suggests that the U.S. should honor its obligations to defend its NATO allies for a possible Russian threat, it is unlikely they say some particular nations in NATO worth fighting, according to a recent survey (end of March) Huffington Post / You Gov. The study shows that only 20 to 29 percent are favorable to the defense of Turkey. It’s embarrassing for the neoconservatives going to war and the friends of Turks in Washington.

Kessab but will not be released by the mere sympathy. It will take determination and sacrifice on the part of all affected parties, especially the Armenians of the world. Demonstrations and petitions can help release the Armenian town of Kessab (Kasab) if they are not accompanied by concerted effort. It is high time that the Armenians joined the action to the word by sending funds as they are concerned.

How Armenians, transnational community can they convince the U.S. State Department, and that going to war as Adam Schiff Representative of the 28th District of California are sincere in their ‘conviction’ of the barbarity of Turks Kessab when in fact secretly under wraps, they finance, arm and train Islamic terrorists in Turkey and facilitate their invasion of Syria via Turkey?

Armenians should not underestimate their transnational status resigning himself to the role of protest or making only react; they must instead emerge as a proactive force to be reckoned with. It is time that the Armenians take a more decisive for the effective defense of their similar today Kessab political role; and perhaps elsewhere tomorrow. No Armenian should be delivered only to his fate. It is time that the Armenians taking on board and apply the rallying cry – ‘all for one, one for all.

Whatever the force that is attacking Armenians should be held responsible priori. They should not stick to the punishment of crimes once they are committed. They should identify the perpetrators before they commit another crime against humanity. Do you remember those who voted yes and who said no during the Artsakh war?

When the Syrian crisis erupted and escalated into a truly international terrorist invasion four years ago, not a single Armenian organization is recognized for providing one day Kessab be the target of a replica of the genocidal policy of the Turkish state.

Russia expects detailed explanations from NATO regarding expanding its military presence in Eastern Europe, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The statement comes after NATO bloc announced boosting its polandmilitary presence in the area.

“We have addressed questions to the North Atlantic military alliance. We are not only expecting answers, but answers that will be based fully on respect for the rules we agreed on,” Lavrov told reports at a joint briefing with Kazakhstan’s FM Yerlan Idrisov.

However, NATO chief Anders Fogh Rasmussen said he had not received any questions from Moscow.
In response he called Russian accusations about NATO’s actions “propaganda and disinformation.”

He denied that NATO was violating the 1997 treaty on NATO-Russian cooperation by boosting its forces in Eastern Europe.

The accusations by Russia, he said, are based “on a wrong interpretation” of a fundamental act of the 1997 treaty on NATO-Russian cooperation, in which NATO vowed to provide collective defense by using reinforcements rather than by additional permanent stationing of substantial combat forces at regular bases.

Lavrov’s statement came after the NATO chief, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, said the bloc will deploy more troops to Eastern Europe. According to him, NATO is considering “revised operational plans, military maneuvers and adequate troop reinforcements.” This military buildup was approved by many eastern European countries. On April 1, Polish PM Donald Tusk praised the NATO presence in the country.

After the announcement of deploying troops in Ukraine, NATO also said that it is suspending all military and civilian cooperation with Russia over the Ukrainian crisis, a move that was immediately blasted by Moscow who said that neither Russia, not NATO would benefit from such a step. Russia called this move reminiscent of Cold War language.

Lavrov also called upon the world’s powers to abide by the rules of the Montreux Convention, which allows a warship of any non-Black Sea country to stay in the region for only 21 day.

“US warships have recently extended their presence in the Black Sea several times,” he said, “This extension didn’t always obey the rules of the Montreux Convention.”

The statement comes after the USS Truxtun destroyer started a military exercises in March with the Bulgarian and Romanian navies a few hundred miles from Russian forces of the Black Sea Fleet.

Meanwhile, Lavrov also responded to Western criticism over the presence of Russian troops along the border with Ukraine, saying that the EU and Kiev should not stir up a conflict surrounding Russian drills launched in the south of the country.

According to the Russian FM, Russia had the right to move forces on its territory, and furthermore the troops would return to their permanent bases after completing military exercises.

“There are no restrictions on Russia’s troop displacement on Russian territory,” he said.

In March, Russia’s Defense Ministry launched artillery drills in the southern military district, which involved some 8,500 troops and a large amount of hardware. It coincided with war games conducted by the country’s Airborne Troops.

Although Russia has repeatedly denied any troop build-up on the borders with Ukraine, as well as plans to send any troops into Ukraine, the West has been turning a deaf ear to the claims.

Lavrov also commented on the crisis situation in Ukraine, saying that all its regions should be taking part in the constitutional process.

“We are all convinced that constitutional reform should be proper, not “cosmetic,” it is necessary to stabilize the situation in Ukraine and overcome the crisis,” he added.

According to Lavrov, it is necessary to remind the Ukrainian authorities that constitutional reform was written in the February-21 agreement on the crisis settlement, which was signed by ousted president Yanukovich and opposition leaders, including Arseny Yatsenyuk and Vladimir Klitschko, on ending the political crisis in the country. The agreement was witnessed by EU foreign ministers from Germany and Poland.
