Armenia ranked 72nd of 125 in The Good Country Index topping among its neighbors. Neighboring Georgia ranked 77th, Turkey 79th, Iran 115th in the index, while Azerbaijan, 122, was close to getting into the worst three. It is only ahead of Iraq, Viet Nam and “the worst country” in the index, Libya (125).

Among the CIS countries, only Moldova (60) is ahead of Armenia.

Seven criteria were used to compile the index: Science and Technology, Culture, International Peace and Security, World Order, Planet and Climate, Prosperity and Equality, and Health and Wellbeing.

Armenia behaved best in Prosperity and Equality. It ranked 15th going ahead of not only all the CIS countries, represented in the index, but also the majority of the G20 members.

For its contribution in Science and Technology, Armenia got the 50th place, Culture – 98th, International Peace and Security – 39th, World Order – 72nd, Planet and Climate – 95th, Health and Wellbeing – 110th.

The Top 3 best countries in the index are Ireland, Finland, and Switzerland.

“The idea of the Good Country Index is pretty simple: to measure what each country on earth contributes to the common good of humanity, and what it takes away. Using a wide range of data from the U.N. and other international organisations, we’ve given each country a balance-sheet to show at a glance whether it’s a net creditor to mankind, a burden on the planet, or something in between,” the author of the index notes.
