The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is within the mandate of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group, and it is not within the competence of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
German MP Axel Fischer stated the aforementioned at Tuesday’s PACE Winter Session debates on PACE MP Robert Walter’s (UK) anti-Armenian report entitled “Escalation of Violence in Nagorno-Karabakh and Other Occupied Territories of Azerbaijan,” and PACE MP Milica Marković’s (Bosnia and Herzegovina) likewise anti-Armenian report about Sarsang Reservoir in Nagorno-Karabakh, and entitled “Inhabitants of frontier regions of Azerbaijan are deliberately deprived of water.”
In his words, there are conflicting views on these two reports.
Fischer noted that they need to be careful in their statements, manifest a righteous demeanor, and make an objective assessment on the situation in Armenia and Azerbaijan.
